Listen to this chapter:

At the hospital entrance, Andrew gently held Bonnie, saying in a deep voice, "Let's go, Bonnie. Yvette's waiting for us at home."

As Bonnie stepped outside, her eyes reddened. She fought back tears, forcing a smile. Her voice was confused, and she seemed fragile, like a lost deer. "I don't have a home anymore, Andrew." She had lost her grandmother and sister, and couldn't return to Dungo Village.

Andrew's heart ached. Placing her hand over his chest, he said, "You still have me, Bonnie. You have Yvette, Jeremiah, and Emmett. You'll never be alone."

Bonnie felt the warmth of his chest, a comforting presence. Wiping away tears with her sleeve, she murmured, "You're right. I still have Yvette."

Andrew smiled bitterly. He knew Yvette came first in Bonnie's heart. It would be a long road, but he aimed to draw closer to her, though he doubted he could ever surpass Yvette.

In the villa's living room, Emmett, Samantha, and Charles sat on one side of the circular couch, gazing toward the kitchen where Jeremiah cooked. They were stunned by his transformation into a house husband. Samantha, legs crossed, munched happily on chips, watching Jeremiah. She sighed, "I can't believe Jeremiah's actually cooking for Yvette."

Emmett closed his laptop, adjusted his glasses, and said seriously, "Honestly, I never dreamed of this scene, not even in my dreams."

Charles, putting down his anatomy book, had been equally surprised earlier, seeing Jeremiah enter with groceries and Yvette. However, the meal's intended recipient made it seem logical. He reflected on Braydon, a powerful, ruthless man, yet humble and deferential to Yvette. He mused, If Yvette asked Braydon to cook, he'd probably obey. There's nothing Yvette can't do.

The doorbell rang. Emmett opened it to Andrew and Bonnie. Bonnie had composed herself, her usual carefree demeanor restored.

Upon entering, they saw the others staring toward the kitchen. Andrew asked, "Samantha, Charles, what are you all looking at?"

Five minutes later, they sat neatly on the couchโ€”Samantha, Andrew, Bonnie, Charles, and Emmettโ€”all staring at the kitchen. Bonnie sighed admiringly, "No wonder they say men look handsome when they cook." Andrew subtly blocked her view, clearing his throat. "Hey, my cooking isn't bad."

The others exchanged awkward glances. They didn't comment; his last attempt at grilling skewers at Skyland had resulted in a charred disaster. Bonnie rolled her eyes, thinking, Does he think I'm stupid? Him cooking is the least likely thing in the world.

Yvette descended the stairs in casual attire. As soon as the five saw her, they turned their attention to her in unison.

Yvette ignored their curious gazes, settling onto the couch, legs crossed, wrists relaxed. She sipped the coffee Jeremiah had brought from Betrico, a pleased expression on her face. Lifting her eyes, her cold gaze softened into a subtle, teasing smile. Casually, she asked, "Want to play games?"

They were taken aback. Why is she suggesting this now? Samantha hesitated, saying, "Jeremiah's still cooking, Yvette. Playing games while he's working seems inappropriate." She secretly thought it would be fun, but lacked the boldness to voice that, especially as she hoped for a peaceful return to Betrico.

Andrew's eyes lit up. "I'm in! Definitely!"

The game commenced with Yvette, Andrew, Charles, and Emmett playing, while Samantha and Bonnie watched.

Midway through, Jeremiah emerged from the kitchen, observing the game. Calmly, he said, "Good luck."

Half an hour later, Andrew, defeated, put down his cards. "I'm done, Yvette. I give up."

Yvette raised an eyebrow, a faint smirk on her lips. "Give me the money."

Andrew was speechless, gritting his teeth as he transferred the funds. He'd lost again. Of twenty-eight rounds, he'd lost twenty-seven, with only one tie.

Emmett and Charles shrugged, laying down their cards. They'd anticipated the outcome. Winning money from Yvette was impossible.

They tallied their losses: Andrew lost $300,000; Emmett, $70,000; and Charles, $100,000. Samantha patted Andrew sympathetically.

Jeremiah called from the kitchen, "Food's ready."

They served the dishes. The table, laden with delicious-looking food, left them awestruck. Did Jeremiah learn this from a five-star chef? Even the plating is perfect.

Yvette sat back, hand resting casually on the table, her sleeve revealing a delicate wrist. She surveyed the dishesโ€”all her favoritesโ€”raising her eyebrows in satisfaction.

Andrew swallowed hard at the sight of fried chicken wings, buffalo wings, salmon salad, mushroom pasta, steak, grilled meat, lamb stew, and shrimp. The homemade style made them even more tempting. Everyone silently urged her to eat.

Yvette smiled, picking up a buffalo wing. She chewed slowly, then nodded. "It tastes good."

Andrew was second to eat. This was his first taste of Jeremiah's cooking. After a bite of fried chicken, he was speechless. Oh my goodness, I'm eating Jeremiah's cooking, and it's delicious!

Samantha and the others followed suit, devouring the food. Jeremiah sat beside Yvette, elegantly peeling shrimp onto a clean plate.

Yvette turned, offering him a piece of meat, saying softly, "The money I won is enough to buy this food."

Andrew almost choked. The meat suddenly tasted less appealing. Yet, tears welling in his eyes, he took another large bite. It doesn't matter how expensive it is. This is too delicious to resist!
