Andrew stood at the police station entrance, Bonnie at his side, Wyatt rushing up behind them. Andrew, usually casually dressed, seemed different to Bonnie that day; his carefree demeanor replaced by a rebellious elegance. Daniel, Simon, and Zachary turned at the sound of their approach. Daniel ignored Andrew and Bonnie, focusing on Wyatt who stood nearby. His body stiffened, a chill running down his spine; he felt a sense of helplessness.
Looking unfriendly, Wyatt entered the lobby with Andrew beside him. Everyone inside was stunned. The deputy mayor was already present, and then the mayor himself arrived. These top Seacrity figures, usually only seen together on television, appeared together, causing a collective gasp.
When Wyatt deliberately stepped behind Andrew, the surprise intensified. Everyone wondered about Andrew's identity; Wyatt's action spoke volumes, clarifying Andrew's status. Zachary seized the opportunity to speak with Wyatt, surprised by his personal appearance. He already suspected a connection between Wyatt and Yvette. Wyatt's arrival reignited those suspicions, though there was little time for speculation. In Seacrity, only Wyatt, the mayor, could truly keep Daniel in check.
"Hello, Mr. Langford. Did you also come because of Yvette?" Zachary asked.
Wyatt was momentarily stunned, questioning Zachary's connection to Yvette, who was associated with Jeremiah. Seeing Wyatt's puzzled expression, Zachary grinned. "Mr. Langford, you may not know, but Yvette is my recently reunited daughter."
Wyatt immediately warmed to Zachary. If Yvette was important to Jeremiah, Zachary held significantly more weight than an ordinary businessman. He felt a considerable shift in his demeanor toward Zachary. "So, Ms. Zeller is the daughter you just found. You're so lucky!"
Zachary looked confused by Wyatt's politeness, even considering his connection to Yvette.
Andrew, hearing Zachary, greeted, "Hello, Mr. Chambers. I'm Andrew, Yvette's best friend…" Zachary, taken aback by the attention from someone Wyatt respected, quickly nodded. "Hello. I might need your help with Yvette's problem."
"No problem. It's just a small issue," Andrew replied.
Daniel, blocking Simon, remained unnoticed until Bonnie softly said, "Hello, Mr. Sunderland." Everyone's gaze shifted to the figure behind Daniel. Simon stepped forward, revealing his face.
Wyatt knew Simon professionally, though they weren't personally close. He greatly admired Simon's dedication to education, nurturing talent for Seacrity and the nation.
"Mr. Sunderland, what brings you here?" Wyatt asked.
Simon nodded. "I'm here for Ms. Zeller."
Wyatt was puzzled. Could Jeremiah have asked Simon for help? It seemed unlikely. Simon's gaze shifted to Andrew.
Andrew, the son of the deputy commander of the Betrico military district and grandson of Arnold Mitchell, was a powerful figure born into privilege – no wonder he was arrogant. Daniel paled in comparison; his presence seemed unnecessary. Jeremiah should arrive soon.
Simon, already tired from a busy morning, bid farewell, his presence no longer needed with Andrew and Wyatt present.
After Simon left, Andrew angrily confronted Daniel. "Are you Daniel?" Furious that someone had dared to mistreat Yvette, Jeremiah's beloved and therefore his friend, Andrew couldn't tolerate Daniel's actions.
Daniel, unsure of Andrew's identity, realized from Wyatt's respect that Andrew was someone not to be trifled with. He straightened instinctively. "Hello, I—"
Andrew interrupted. "It doesn't matter. Who cares who you are?"
Daniel was humiliated. The police officers kept their heads down. For years, no one had dared to openly humiliate him.
Wyatt judged Andrew had vented enough; Daniel, as Seacrity's second-in-command, deserved some respect. Wyatt asked, "Daniel, I heard you arrested Yvette from Argrol University's physics department for assault. What's going on here!"
Daniel's heart pounded. Wyatt and Andrew were there for Yvette. He thought, "Wasn't Yvette supposed to be some girl they found in the countryside? How does she even know Wyatt?"
With Wyatt and Andrew present, Daniel's arrogance vanished. His only plan was to bribe Justin, Sky Nimbus' duty manager, to destroy the surveillance footage for $330,000 to maintain a consistent story.
He would insist Yvette caused Ethan's concussion. "Mr. Langford, you don't know the whole story. Yvette…"
Andrew scoffed. "Do you really think you can just call her 'Yvette'?"
Daniel clenched his fists, enraged. He glanced at Wyatt, sensing resentment. Wyatt avoided his gaze. Daniel vowed revenge, unaware he wouldn't get the chance.
It was difficult for Daniel to address Yvette respectfully. He wondered how he would face anyone after this public humiliation.
"Yesterday, at Sky Nimbus, Ms. Zeller, after winning 100 million dollars from my son, Ethan, also insulted him, making him so angry he fainted and hit his head on the table, resulting in a concussion. That's why Ms. Zeller is here today for questioning," Daniel said.
Andrew, having heard Bonnie's explanation en route, knew Ethan was a sore loser using the concussion as an excuse to arrest someone. He laughed coldly. Wyatt felt embarrassed.
Daniel clearly abused his power. "Where is Yvette being held now?" Daniel hesitated.
"In the isolation room," a police officer said.
Andrew's anger exploded. He grabbed Daniel by the collar.
