Chapter 38 (or remove if Chapter 38 is irrelevant)
Robert hesitated before saying, "I believe you." Then, catching sight of the purple bruises on Emma's neck, his eyes turned bloodshot. He thought, If Elysia is behind this, I won't let her get away with it.
His fists clenched, his heart filled with rage. Emma was someone he cherished; someone he wouldn't dare to harm. He couldn't forgive these men for hunting her. He said, "Mr. Rosewood, call the police."
Bella chimed in, "Robert's right, Scout. They deserve life in prison."
Scott retorted, "No way! We can't call the police. Do you want this scandal to become public? What would that do to our family's reputation!"
Emma remained silent, holding back tears. Although she agreed with Scott's approach, she still felt wronged.
Bella glared. "Are you going to let them go scot-free?"
One man quickly said, "If you dare do anything to us, we'll expose this whole thing. Don't believe us? Go ahead and try!"
Scott pinched his brow. "Our family can't afford this disgrace."
Robert's hands were balled into fists, his eyes hard as he looked at the men.
Bella admitted Scott had a point. Innocence was crucial. If this scandal became public, she feared Emma would never recover.
"Alright, get Emma some clean clothes. We shouldn't stay here," Scott said, then barked at the men, "Get out!"
Seeing Scott's expression, the men fled.
Emma changed clothes and washed her face, but her eyes were still red and puffy. She said, "Dad, you have to stand up for me."
"You say Elysia is behind this. How can you prove it?" Scott asked.
Emma thought, Elysia must have been here; otherwise, how could she have colluded with these men? She said, "The security cameras. Elysia was here. The cameras must have caught her."
Scott nodded. The Rosewood Group had dealings with the Glory Hotel, and Scott knew the manager. A phone call secured access to the security footage.
They reviewed the footage. Surprisingly, Elysia didn't appear. Instead, at around 8:20 PM, Emma appeared, joyful, holding a room card and entering room A5302. Footage showed them entering the room.
Everyone except Emma was confused. Emma went in there herself, and she looked so happy!
Emma could hardly believe her eyes. How could there be no sign of Elysia! She started to speak, but Scott's gaze stopped her.
Bella couldn't believe what she was seeing. Emma is my daughter; how could she have done this?
In the blind spot of the security camera in the Glory Hotel's underground garage, Elysia received a memory card from a man. He said, "Lady, this card has the video. What about the money?"
Elysia handed him a bank card. "Here's 150 thousand dollars. The password is the last six digits of the card number."
The men hesitated. One said cautiously, "Lady, didn't we agree on 300 thousand?"
Elysia's brow twitched. "I promised 300 thousand, but you messed things up. 150 thousand is more than enough. If you don't want it, I'll take it back." She started to put the card away.
The man quickly said, "It's enough! Thank you, lady."
Elysia handed him the card.
The men thought, As long as we deal with that woman, we still get 150 thousand!
Elysia sneered inwardly. Emma, blame yourself for not having as much money as me. Since you want to play, I'll play along.
Scott and the others left the Glory Hotel. Robert left separately. Although worried about Emma, he knew the Rosewoods had family matters to handle. His presence would be inappropriate, given the previous engagement.
Scott drove. Bella and Emma were in the back. No one spoke.
Emma, eyes red, leaned against Bella, hating Elysia. She planned everything. I was blinded by joy.
Bella hesitated, then asked, "Emma, did you"
Emma said, "Mom, ask whatever you want. I can handle it."
Bella asked, "Emma, did you really have thisspecial preference?"
Emma sat up. "No, Mom! You have to believe me. It's Elysia. She's framing me!"
Bella patted her back. "I believe you, sweetheart."
This revised version addresses grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure issues, creating a more fluid and readable narrative. It also removes unnecessary repetition and clarifies ambiguous phrasing. I have also removed the repeated Chapter 58 heading as it appears to be a duplication.
