Chapter 217

Gina glanced at him playfully beneath her mask. "What do you think?"

"Since you said so, it must be settled," Owen replied.

Gina smirked. "Don't you know what my mother is capable of? How dare she break my son's hand? She's either in the emergency room or the morgue by now."

"That's great!" Owen grinned broadly. "As long as they don't cause any trouble, Alyssa can't do anything to us this time. Mom, make sure she doesn't find out about this."

"I know, I know," Gina replied. "Now hurry and go. Your hand hasn't recovered yet. Don't drink or move around too much. Do you hear me?"

Owen responded perfunctorily and left immediately.

In the courtyard, Owen climbed into the passenger seat of a fluorescent Lamborghini. Without looking at the driver, he said, "Let's go to Eldor Bar."

The driver remained silent.

Owen ignored him, scrolling through Instagram and then making loud, profane phone calls to people at the bar. He urged the driver, "Hey, speed up! Did you hear me? Drive faster!"

The driver remained unmoved, maintaining a steady speed, but he switched to a less-trafficked route, almost deserted at night.

Owen reacted belatedly. He put down his phone, scratching his chin. "Is this a shortcut? Wait, this road doesn't seem familiar."

He opened his navigation app, discovering he was farther from his destination. Enraged, he raised his hand to strike the driver, demanding, "What the hell are you—"

Before he could finish, a strong arm seized his wrist. His phone flew out the window, and his neck was pinned to the seat.

Terrified, Owen stammered, "Who… who are you? What do you want?"

The driver then revealed himself, discarding his Allen family chauffeur disguise. A black mask concealed his face, a long scar marking his left eye. He was clearly no servant.

Owen, cowardly since childhood, always hiding behind Gina, was now so petrified he nearly wet his pants. "What do you want? How much money do you want? I'll give it to you! I have money, my dad has money! Please, don't do anything rash."

The masked man said, "We don't want money."

"You don't want money? Then what do you want?" Owen swallowed hard.

The man said nothing, only staring at Owen before erupting in a sinister laugh. His eyes held a chilling cruelty. In a heartbeat, Owen's vision blacked out; he didn't even scream before losing consciousness.

"Mr. Hall, we've solved it," Levi reported.

Liam had mobilized Team Thunder. Within ten minutes, they'd identified the culprit. "It's the Allen family. Their youngest son had a conflict with Mrs. Hall and Ms. Kemp outside a bar. Gina, fearing trouble for her son, used a fugitive to silence them. Owen is in our custody; the entire Allen family is under surveillance," Lai reported.

Hearing this, Liam recalled Emma's tears and injuries. His aura darkened. He coldly commanded, "I want the Allen family gone from this city before dawn!"

Meanwhile, Lawson's three-hour surgery concluded. Exhausted, he spoke to Liam in the corridor, his mouth dry. "The patient's stable, but complications are possible. It depends on rehabilitation. Damn it, I'm worn out. You owe me big time for this."

Liam merely glanced at him. Formalities were unnecessary; they were childhood friends. Liam pursued finance, Lawson medicine.

Three Grail Hero Emblems existed; one originally belonged to Lawson, who, preferring freedom, never participated in the selection. He remained a hidden powerhouse.

Despite his exhaustion, Lawson gossiped, glancing into the ward. "Who's that woman? Why are you so upset? Your girlfriend?"

Liam gave him a cold look. "She's my wife's best friend."

Lawson's eyes widened in disbelief. He exploded with profanity. "When the hell did you get married? Why didn't I know? You got me here for your wife's bestie? Does she have a boyfriend?"

Liam looked at him with disdain. "Stop drooling. I'm going to keep my wife company. You rest."

As Liam left, Lawson adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses. "You haven't paid me for the surgery!"

Liam stated flatly, "Go to the hospital director; put it on insurance."

"Fuck!" Lawson cursed. He'd been advised to curb his profanity, yet he'd cursed three times in minutes! "I, a top expert, flew here to help you. You're so rich, but you won't spare a million or two for me?"

Liam retorted, "If my wife weren't sick, I wouldn't need you. She can handle it herself."

Lawson's face reddened. "Who's your wife?" Scoffing at his medical prowess, he added, "Her best friend is barely twenty. Your wife's probably young too. She can't compare to me."

Liam saw Lawson's smugness and decided to deflate him. "Indeed, she's only twenty. She never charges for treatment. Unlike your exorbitant fees, she really can't be compared to you. Oh, by the way, she's also known as Grail."

"Thump." Lawson's jaw hit the floor. He fell silent, thinking he'd misheard. 'Grail? The Grail I know? Liam's wife is Grail? The world-famous Grail is a twenty-year-old girl?'

Lawson felt he might explode. He chased after Liam, who was entering Emma's ward.

"Don't close the door!" Lawson yelled, wedging his arm in the crack, preventing Liam from shutting him out. He barged in, locking eyes with the girl in the bed.
