Chapter 1003
Evelyn looked at Teresa, a bit puzzled. She asked, โWhy do you want Jonathan to come over?โ
Teresa said, โDidnโt we say we needed to talk about the kids? Now that Lucas is back, I will ask Fiona to come over, too. Itโs a good chance for all of us to have dinner together. Iโll order a few more dishes so you donโt have to cook. Letโs just eat and talk things over.โ With that, Teresa went to make the call.
Teresa called Jonathan, and Jonathan picked up right away.
โLucas is back today, and my momโs making ravioli. Why donโt you and Fiona come over for dinner? Didnโt we say we needed to talk about the kids?โ Teresa said.
Jonathan was silent for a few seconds before replying, โOkay, Iโll order a few more dishes.โ
โNo need, Iโve already ordered six,โ Teresa said.
โThen Iโll order six more from Fores Restaurant. You like their food, right? Fiona and I will be over soon, just the two of us,โ Jonathan said.
โAlright,โ Teresa replied and then hung up the phone.
She took a deep breath and thought, โMaybe itโs better this wayโat least we can talk things out face to face, and I can give him back the car keys while Iโm at it.โ
Teresa called the restaurant to order some dishes, then pushed the sofa aside to make some space for everyone to eat.
With Fiona coming over, Teresa rolled up her sleeves and kept herself busy cleaning up the house, not stopping for a moment.
Michael was helping Teresa tidy up the house. โMom, how come youโre working so hard today?โ he asked.
โWell, Fiona is coming over. If she saw the house all messy, sheโd laugh at us,โ Teresa replied.
Teresa cared a lot about appearances, so she made sure the house was spotless. She even put out a fruit platter.
Lucas headed downstairs to pick up the food theyโd ordered from the restaurant.
Michael had even finished tidying up his own room. He said, โAll done, Mom. Everythingโs spotless. Should we put up some balloons to welcome Fiona?โ
โNo need for that, just keeping the house clean is enough,โ Teresa replied as she started brewing some coffee. There were different types of coffee beans in the fridge, but she wasnโt sure which one Fiona would prefer.
Just then, Felix woke up and started crying, so Teresa went to the room to comfort him.
As the sky slowly darkened and the lights in the neighborhood flickered on, Michael heard a car horn outside. He leaned against the windowsill and shouted, โTheyโre here. Mr. Lime is here.โ
He was so giddy with excitement, oneโd have thought heโd spotted a wedding procession coming to pick up the bride.
Teresa had just managed to get Felix back to sleep, changed his diaper, and washed her hands when she heard the commotion downstairs and hurried down.
Spotting the familiar Maybach, Teresa strode over to Fiona as she got out of the car. She said, โFiona, youโre here. Please, come on in.โ
Fiona brought a small gift for Teresa. She paused to take in Teresaโs makeup-free, porcelain-like complexionโso fair and delicateโand felt a surge of genuine affection. She took Teresa by the hand and they went upstairs.
Teresa helped Fiona along, with Michael bouncing happily behind them.
โFiona, you know what? My usually lazy mom actually spent the whole afternoon cleaning the house just because you were coming,โ Michael announced.
Teresa shot Michael a glare as if saying, โYou have to spill the beans.โ
Fiona immediately felt a bit sorry for Teresa. She said, โWeโre familyโno need to be so polite. What matters most is that you get some rest. Come on, let me have a good look at you.โ
Jonathan came in loaded with bags, handed them to the driver, and then scooped Michael up into his arms. โWhereโs Felix?โ he asked.
โHe just fell asleep,โ Michael replied, snuggling up to Jonathanโs shoulder.
โOh, really?โ Jonathan said.
