The woman had put on some weight, her figure fuller than before, but her face was unmistakable. She was wiping away tears, and he had the sense of Rosary Estates too.

Eason found himself stepping out of the car. Evelyn froze when she saw him. Neither of them had expected to run into each other here.

If she hadn’t stubbornly insisted on marrying Philip, maybe she would’ve ended up with Eason instead. They had grown up together, thick as thieves.

“Eason, is it really you? When did you come back home?” Evelyn blurted out. She remembered that right after she got married, Eason had packed up and moved to Elarioa.

Eason replied, “My company moved back to Nareigh. Evelyn, are you okay? Did something happen?”

Evelyn couldn’t hold back her tears. She explained that the beauty salon she ran in Gorthany had caught fire because she used some electrical appliances against the rules. Half the place was burned down. Luckily, no one got hurt.

“I’ll just get a loan from the bank,” Evelyn said, turning to leave. She had come here to borrow some money from Teresa to help cover the losses.

“Hey, Evelyn, hold on a second,” Eason called after her. “How much do you need? Let me lend it to you.”

“No way. I can’t take your money,” Evelyn said.

“Come on. If you get a loan from the bank, you’ll still have to pay interest. How much do you need? Just let me help you out,” Eason insisted.

Evelyn said she needed 150 thousand dollars. To Eason, that was pocket change. “I’ll just transfer it to you,” Eason said.

“Thank you so much. Here’s my number. It’s the same on WhatsApp. I promise I’ll pay you back as soon as I can,” Evelyn said.

“Don’t worry about it. Just use it for now.” Eason noticed that Evelyn had changed a lot. The girl he remembered was young and spirited, always wearing her hair in a high ponytail. She was a real fighter, never one to back down or cry.

But now she seemed so cautious. Looking back, Evelyn had always just seen him as a friend. She picked Philip, and that heartbreak pushed him to leave the country.

Only after moving abroad did he meet his wife, Katrina. He was already married now. Katrina was the woman he’d chosen to spend his life with.

After Evelyn left, Eason left as well. Suddenly, Eason remembered something. A few years after Evelyn had married Philip, she actually called him out of the blue.

She was completely drunk, slurring her words as she confessed she regretted marrying Philip. Back then, Eason still had a thing for Evelyn, so he dropped everything and rushed back home to “comfort” her.

Then, Katrina found him, cradling a newborn baby girl in her arms. “This is your child, Eason. I don’t want my baby to grow up without a father. Can we be a family?” she pleaded.

Eason was stunned. After coming to Elarioa, he met Katrina, who was studying abroad there. They dated for a while, but broke up a year ago. He hadn’t wanted to lie to her, so he told her the truth.

There was always a childhood sweetheart in his heart, someone who’d already gotten married. He’d only started seeing Katrina to force himself to move on, but he just couldn’t let go of the past.

But he never expected that, a year after their breakup, Katrina would end up having his baby.

“I gave birth to her on a sunny day, so I named her Yalena Kelly, using your last name,” Katrina said.
