Chapter 894

Benny took a sip of his red wine and said casually, โ€œTrust me, get your mom a man.โ€

Jonathanโ€™s eyes sharpened as he stared at Benny, thinking he had lost his mind.

Benny curved his fingers and tapped the table. โ€œIโ€™m not joking. From what Iโ€™ve observed, Mrs. Lynn is starved for love. Sheโ€™s been alone all these years, and thatโ€™s why she needs attention. Get her some guys to keep her company.โ€

Jonathan frowned. โ€œI tried to set her up on dates, but she refused. She said she was done with marriage.โ€

Benny felt speechless. โ€œIโ€™m not saying get you a stepdad. I mean, get a few men to give your mother emotional support, got it? Like taking her out and having dinner with her โ€“ not about marriage or papers.โ€

Jonathan frowned again.

Seeing Jonathanโ€™s obvious disbelief, Benny added, โ€œTrust me. I know women well, and I can tell she needs someone to spoil her. Get her a few men whoโ€™ll shower her with sweet words, keep her busy, and she wonโ€™t have time to bother you.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll think about it,โ€ Jonathan said, catching sight of Michael riding his scooter over, so he quickly dropped the subject.

Benny also saw Michael. The kid, just over three, was pretty good on his scooter.

โ€œMr. Daddy Lime, Iโ€™m hungry,โ€ Michael said, parking his scooter in front of Jonathan and hugging his leg with a little pout. The nanny wasnโ€™t around.

Jonathan picked up Michael and said, โ€œSure. I will make you some food.โ€

Seeing this, Benny grabbed his coat and stood up. โ€œIโ€™m leaving then. Just call me if you need anything.โ€

Michael turned to look at Benny, saying, โ€œBunny, you can have my scooter. Just take it home.โ€

Benny looked at the little scooter, feeling both amused and speechless.

Jonathan made Michaelโ€™s favorite meatballs, steak, and some soup. The little one swallowed and said, โ€œIโ€™m going to call Mom and tell her to come home for dinner.โ€

โ€œWait a second.โ€ Jonathan reached out and stopped Michael. โ€œTry this. Iโ€™ll call her.โ€

Michael nodded and watched as Jonathan walked toward Teresaโ€™s bedroom.

Jonathan didnโ€™t make the call. Instead, he sat quietly on Teresaโ€™s bed for a while. Her scent lingered in the room, and he pulled a pillow from the bed and held it close, breathing in the faint trace of her.

When Jonathan finally came out of the room, he saw Michael sitting there, just staring at the food without taking a single bite.

โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you eat?โ€ Jonathan asked.

โ€œIโ€™m waiting for Mom so we can eat together. Mr. Daddy Lime, did you call her?โ€ Michael asked.

โ€œI did,โ€ Jonathan replied. He felt a little sad as he gently stroked Michaelโ€™s hair. โ€œSheโ€™s having some issues at your old house. Iโ€™ll go get her tonight, okay?โ€

Michael nodded and began to eat. He trusted Jonathan fully.

Jonathan wasnโ€™t hungry. He just quietly watched Michael eat.

Michael took a meatball from his plate and put it in Jonathanโ€™s mouth. โ€œMr. Daddy Lime, arenโ€™t you hungry? It tastes really good.โ€

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll try some.โ€ Jonathan nodded and began to eat as well.

Chapter 894

After dinner at Rosary Estates, Teresa noticed Jennifer rolling up her sleeves while washing dishes, revealing a long scar.

โ€œWhat happened to your arm?โ€ Teresa grabbed Jenniferโ€™s arm, frowning at the long, scary scar that reached her forearm.

โ€œItโ€™s okay. I got it when I was a kid.โ€ Jennifer pulled her arm back calmly and rolled her sleeve down.

โ€œIt hasnโ€™t even scabbed yet. Itโ€™s clearly a fresh wound. How did you get it?โ€ Teresa pressed.

Jennifer pursed her lips, said nothing, and kept washing dishes.

Teresa asked her whether Irene hurt her.

Jennifer said casually as she kept washing the dishes, โ€œI got into a fight with a thief in a motel. He cut me with a knife.โ€

Teresa was shocked. Jennifer had been taking time off alone, staying in a cheap motel in a strange town to save money. The small room was dark, the door broken. One night, a thief broke in and rummaged around her bed, waking her up.

The thief saw that Jennifer was somewhat attractive and got aroused. Jennifer fought desperately with him. During the struggle, she grabbed the bedside lamp and smashed it onto his head.

Enraged, the thief grabbed his knife and cut Jenniferโ€™s arm. The noise was loud and caught the front deskโ€™s attention. When he came and caught the thief, blood from Jenniferโ€™s arm was all over the floor.

Teresa couldnโ€™t help but say seriously, โ€œWhen youโ€™re alone in a remote place, you really should find a decent hotel.โ€

Jennifer smiled bitterly. โ€œI didnโ€™t have much cash left, so I thought I should try to save money.โ€

โ€œWait, did you get nothing from divorcing Donald?โ€ Teresa asked.

Jennifer answered quietly, โ€œYes, I didnโ€™t want anything from him.โ€

Teresa frowned in confusion. โ€œWhy? Come on, you lost a child. Didnโ€™t he give you anything to make you feel better?โ€

Jennifer explained, โ€œI told Donald it was my decision to have the abortion. I didnโ€™t want any compensation.โ€

Teresa suddenly understood. โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you tell him the baby was lost because of a car accident?โ€

Jenniferโ€™s eyes filled with tears. โ€œJust like you, I needed a firm reason to divorce.โ€

Teresa fell silent, not sure what to say. She bought some scar treatment creams online and had them shipped over.

She said, โ€œI got you some medicated creams. Theyโ€™ll arrive shortly.โ€

โ€œThank you, Teresa,โ€ Jennifer replied, feeling touched.

Teresa suggested, โ€œYou better tell Donald the miscarriage was caused by a car accident. He needs to know. Even if you donโ€™t want to tell him, youโ€™ve got to hash out the divorce settlement properly.โ€

Jennifer shook her head as she kept washing the dishes. โ€œNo. His salary is not that high, and the only thing of real value he has is the house his parents bought. I donโ€™t want to take anything from him.โ€

Teresa fell silent again, realizing Jenniferโ€™s situation was much like her own years ago, except she was harder since she was pregnant.

Jennifer dried her hands and said, โ€œIโ€™ll leave once the divorce paperwork is done next week.โ€

โ€œWhere are you going? Are you going to Ms. Nelson?โ€ said Teresa.
