Jonathan frowned and let go of her. โHey, what did I even say? She probably doesnโt even have time to check. Sheโs too busy dating.โ
Teresa blinked. โWas he for real?โ She thought Jonathan had to be joking.
Jonathan didnโt bother explaining any further. He tapped her on the head. โDinnerโs ready. I made you a late-night snack. Come eat something.โ He brought her slippers over.
Teresa slowly got out of bed, Lucas still on her mind. โI want to go see Lucas. Iโm not sure how heโs doing at Risemon World Studios. I want to visit him on set,โ she said.
โDonโt make things hard for yourself. Youโre in no shape to travel right now. Once the babyโs here, Iโll go with you,โ Jonathan replied.
โOkay,โ Teresa said. She had no choice but to put her plans on hold for now.
Michael sat in his high chair, and the three of them ate together. He rested his chin on his hand. โMommy, why donโt you call Mr. Lime โhoneyโ anymore?โ
Jonathan nodded. โSee, even Michael is asking why you donโt call me โhoneyโ?โ
Teresa rolled her eyes. โDonโt push your luck.โ
โI gave you some face in front of Hayden yesterday. What, now I have to keep up the act in front of Mike too?โ she thought.
Michael finished eating in no time and dashed out to the yard to play, with the nanny watching over him. He was already old enough for kindergarten, and they could get him enrolled whenever they wanted.
But since Teresa would be heading to Jarisburg with the new baby after giving birth, they figured it was best to let Mike enjoy a few more months of carefree days before school started.
Teresa turned to Jonathan. โWe donโt have to keep pretending for Mikeโs sake. I just donโt want him to feel weird or left out when we go our separate ways. Just call me by my name like you used to.โ
Jonathan arched an eyebrow. โCall you by your name? Teresa?โ
โYes,โ Teresa responded.
His tone deepened. โAlright, Teresa.โ
Not missing a beat, Teresa shot back, โOkay, Jonathan.โ Jonathan was speechless.
Just as Teresa was about to get up, she suddenly felt a cramping tightness in her belly. Jonathan immediately put down his fork. โWhatโs wrong? Does your stomach hurt? Are you going into labor?โ
โMaybe. Iโm not sure,โ Teresa replied.
โIโm sorry, I shouldnโt have made you mad. Letโs get to the hospital,โ Jonathan said. His forehead was already sweating with worry.
His arms were strong and firm as he lifted her sideways, holding her tightly. Teresaโs heart skipped a beat. She saw that he was drenched in sweat. He placed her in the car, allowing her to finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Luckily, the hospital was really close by. That was exactly why Jonathan insisted Teresa move in with him. If something happened while she was living at Rosary Estates, like getting stuck in traffic and not being able to get to the hospital in time, heโd regret it.
The department head of gynecology gave Teresa a thorough check-up. Jonathan asked, โDoctor, howโs she doing? Is this premature labor?โ
The doctor told Jonathan, โLetโs keep monitoring her for now. Sheโs still got ten weeks until her due date. From the exam, her amniotic sac is intact, thereโs no bleeding, and her contractions arenโt obvious, so it doesnโt look like premature labor. Right now, she shouldnโt get too emotional and needs to keep her mood calm and steady.โ
Jonathan nodded. โThank you.โ
Teresa said, โIf everythingโs fine, letโs just head home.โ
But Jonathan was still worried about her. โLetโs get you checked in for observation. The doctor said they should keep an eye on you.โ Somehow, he just had a bad feeling about this.
โStay here and wait for me,โ Jonathan said. He went downstairs to make a call, contacting Vincent, the hospital director, directly to take care of the admission and payment.
โMr. Lynn, what a coincidence.โ From behind, a voice called out to Jonathan.
