Chapter 962

"Okay, go ahead," Gary said.

Teresa said, "Jonathan doesn't want the kid to have his last name. He might call you and ask you to handle the household registration. Just ignore him. If he really asks you to do it, just register the child as Felix Lynn."

Gary got it. "So you mean the household registration will be under your name, but the child will still have Jonathanโ€™s last name?"

"Yeah, that's exactly it," Teresa confirmed.

After listening to Teresa, Gary finally saw clearly that she and Jonathan had no real plans to get back together. Either way, the kidโ€™s household registration had to be handled.

Teresa really knew Jonathan well. Sure enough, Jonathan asked Gary to handle the household registration for the second child. He told Gary to go back to Nareigh and get it done, and to name the kid Felix Johnston.

Gary agreed with Jonathan on the surface, but in truth, he was following Teresaโ€™s instructions. He called Teresa. "Iโ€™ll go with your decision. The kidโ€™s name will be Felix Lynn. Is that final?"

โ€œYeah. Letโ€™s go with that,โ€ Teresa said and hung up. She couldnโ€™t just sit back and wait for things to happen. If she wanted to settle the score once and for all, she had to come clean about everything Yalena did to provoke her.

Teresa took the initiative to contact the police, telling them every detail about what Yalena had done to Lucas. She also had the photos Yalena had taken of Lucasโ€™s injuries.

But Teresa had to show up in person and hand over those photos, so the cops would have solid evidence to bring Yalena in for questioning right away.

Jonathan told Teresa, โ€œIโ€™ll head back to Nareigh tomorrow. First, Iโ€™ll help you hand over these photos to the police and explain the situation to them. Then Iโ€™ll go check on your brother to make sure heโ€™s okay."

โ€œAfter that, I need to check in on Hayden and also head back to the company. Iโ€™ll take care of everything as quickly as I can and then come back.โ€ There were a lot of things that Jonathan needed to handle back there.

Teresa was clearly unhappy. โ€œI can get out of bed now. Let me go back with you.โ€

Before she could even finish, Jonathan shut her down. โ€œJust focus on your postpartum recovery. Mike will stay here and keep you company,โ€ Jonathan said.

โ€œI donโ€™t need to go through the postpartum recovery,โ€ Teresa insisted.

โ€œSeriously?โ€ Jonathan snorted. โ€œIโ€™ve never seen a woman try to leave the hospital less than three days after giving birth. If you end up with health problems later, donโ€™t come crying to me."

โ€œJust stay here and get some rest. Once our son is out of the incubator, weโ€™ll go back. And remember, when youโ€™re around other people, just say youโ€™re my wife. That way, youโ€™ll be safer,โ€ Jonathan said.

After saying that, Jonathan turned and walked out. Before leaving, he told the bodyguards and doctors to keep their eyes peeled and stay alert, then finally left.

Teresa went to visit her baby in the incubator.

The doctor told her that the baby now weighed about 6.2 pounds and was in pretty good shape. His lungs were slowly getting stronger, and he should be able to come out soon.

That was definitely great news for Teresa. Looking at the tiny baby in the incubator, Teresa felt a mix of joy and sadness.

She whispered to the baby, โ€œSweetie, you need to come out soon. Mommy, Daddy, and your big brother are all waiting for you. Mommy will always protect you from now on.โ€

Meanwhile, Eason had asked his secretary to get a DNA test done, and the results were out. Eason told him to bring the results to his house.

โ€œYes, Mr. Kelly,โ€ Beeman replied. He brought the sealed DNA test results to Easonโ€™s house. Katrina was home as well. She greeted Beeman briefly and took the envelope from him. โ€œBeeman just brought over the DNA test results,โ€ Katrina said.

โ€œWhy donโ€™t you open it and take a look?โ€ Eason replied.

But Katrina handed the envelope back to him, clearly wanting him to open it himself.

Eason couldnโ€™t help but feel anxious. For the past couple of days, heโ€™d been staring at old photos of him and Yalena. He was somehow afraid that Yalena might be a fake.

At the same time, he couldnโ€™t figure out why Yalena would end up like this. Finally, with his heart pounding, Eason slowly opened the DNA test results.

Katrina leaned in close to get a look, while Eason flipped straight to the last page. The DNA test results showed there was a 99.99% probability that Yalena and Eason were really father and daughter.

Katrina finally breathed a sigh of relief. โ€œSo this DNA test basically means we were just overthinking it, huh?โ€

Eason let his hands fall to his sides, looking disappointed. โ€œYeah, guess I really was just overthinking things. But I still canโ€™t figure out how Yalena turned out like this.โ€

Katrina sighed. โ€œHow could such a good kid change so much? Iโ€™ve noticed Yalenaโ€™s whole lifestyle has changed too. Maybe the kidnapping traumatized her and affected her mentally?โ€

Eason nodded. โ€œThatโ€™s possible. Iโ€™ll have a doctor run a brain CT scan on her.โ€

Katrina nodded. โ€œYalenaโ€™s still in the hospital. Iโ€™ll visit her tomorrow and ask the doctor to check her brain.โ€

โ€œSure,โ€ Eason replied.

Before Katrina even had a chance to visit Yalena, Yalena got detained. Jonathan brought back the evidence Teresa had given him, and only then did Eason realize Jonathan was back in Nareigh. Eason saw Jonathan at the police station.

Eason jabbed a finger at Jonathan. โ€œYalenaโ€™s injuries havenโ€™t healed yet. Isnโ€™t that enough for you? Are you really going to keep going after her?โ€

Jonathan let out a cold laugh. โ€œMy wife and kid are still in Jarisburg, and my baby is still in the incubator. You really think Iโ€™d just let your daughter off the hook? Not a chance.โ€

โ€œAlright, Jonathan. If thatโ€™s how youโ€™re going to treat us, then the real fight starts now. Just you wait and see,โ€ Eason spat. With that, Eason spun around and stormed off, seething with anger.

Jonathan didnโ€™t even spare Eason a glance. He left the police station and, barely stopping for breath, made his way straight to see Lucas.

Lucas was almost fully recovered, but his leg was still in a cast from the fracture, and there were a few bruises on his face that were still pretty obvious. He asked Jonathan, โ€œHowโ€™s Teresa doing?โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s fine. Sheโ€™s worried about you,โ€ Jonathan replied.

โ€œItโ€™s just some scrapes and bruises. Give me a few days and Iโ€™ll be fine,โ€ Lucas said.

โ€œWhat about anything else I canโ€™t see? Are you really alright?โ€ Jonathan pressed, eyeing Lucas carefully. He wondered if maybe Lucas was too embarrassed to say something and was hiding it.

But Lucas shook his head. โ€œIf Ms. Kelly did anything to me, I wouldnโ€™t be embarrassed or try to cover it up. But honestly, she didnโ€™t do anything. A few guys just roughed me up and tossed me aside. Thatโ€™s all there is to it.โ€

Jonathan frowned. He wouldnโ€™t say someone like Yalena would let Lucas off so easily. He couldnโ€™t help but feel that there was something more going on beneath the surface.
