Chapter 6

When Anna returned home, she immediately experienced a high fever that wouldn't subside. Jonathan came home, still drunk, and found her unconscious with flushed cheeks. He panicked and quickly picked her up, rushing her to the hospital.

When Anna regained consciousness, she slowly lifted her heavy eyelids and struggled to open her eyes. Seeing her wake up, the nurse changing her bandages exclaimed joyfully, "Mrs. Jonathan, you're awake! You've been burning with a fever for a whole day and night. Mr. Jonathan was so worried; he stayed by your side the entire time. He only left after receiving a phone call. Do you want me to get him? He'll be so happy to know you're awake."

Anna shook her head, her voice hoarse and raspy. "No need."

The nurse said nothing more. After finishing her work, she respectfully left the room.

The large hospital room became eerily quiet, so quiet that Anna could hear Jonathan talking on the phone outside. He was usually calm, but only around her did he lose control. But now, his voice sounded joyful and excited.

After a while, his footsteps faded, and Jonathan left. Using all her strength, Anna got out of bed and slowly walked in the direction of his voice. After descending a few floors, she saw Jonathan supporting Isabella as they walked out of the obstetrics and gynecology department. Their smiles were obvious, their lips curving up almost uncontrollably.

When Isabella saw Anna, she feigned surprise. "Mrs. Jonathan, what a coincidence! You're at the hospital too?"

Hearing her, Jonathan looked up, meeting Anna's gaze from a distance. His body tensed immediately, and he quickly released his hand from Isabella's waist.

"Anna, I—I was just coming downstairs to get your medicine and accidentally bumped into Isabella. She's pregnant, and I was just helping her," he explained quickly, worried she might misunderstand.

Anna's eyes shifted to Isabella's small bump, and she felt a tightness in her chest. She closed her eyes for a moment, then spoke, her voice controlled. "Miss Isabella, when did you get pregnant? Why hasn't the father of the child come to see you?"

Isabella lovingly rubbed her stomach, smiling sweetly. "I just found out; it's been a month now. The father was busy, so he couldn't come, but he was overjoyed when he heard the news. He bought me several villas and transferred me a hundred million. Tonight, he's even planning to set off fireworks all over the city to celebrate our baby's arrival!"

She beamed with pride, but Anna only looked at her for a long time before forcing a smile. "Is that so?"

Isabella smiled even more smugly. "Yes! Mrs. Jonathan, since you're free today, why don't we have a meal together? I'll invite the baby's father too!"

At her words, Jonathan's expression suddenly changed. He shot Isabella a cold look and then turned to Anna, holding her gently and speaking in a soft, coding tone. "Anna, you're still not well. Don't wander around. She's just a spokesperson; no need to bother with her." He swiftly shut her down. "There's no need. Anna doesn't have time for that."

Hearing Jonathan's degrading tone, Isabella's face turned pale with anger. She lowered her head and, with red-rimmed eyes, spoke with a hint of sadness. "Yes, I got carried away. I don't deserve to have dinner with Mrs. Jonathan."

She wiped away her tears and, in a huff, turned to leave. Jonathan's face darkened, and he was about to chase after her, but when he saw Anna standing quietly, watching him, he stopped himself.

After getting some medication, Anna was discharged and returned home. Perhaps because of how he had yelled at Isabella earlier, Jonathan seemed distracted during the entire ride home. After dropping Anna off, he made an excuse about work and locked himself in the study.

As soon as Anna entered her room, she received a picture message from Isabella—an ultrasound report. Soon after, a series of provocative messages followed:

[Anna, I know you already figured it out today—the child is Jonathan's. Don't think he loves you so much. If he really loved you, what does my existence mean to him?]

[Do you know how obsessed he is with me? Every year, on your birthday and your wedding anniversary, after he gets you to sleep, he comes to spend time with me. He's amazing in bed; we go through several hours of coitus every time. The next day, I can barely get out of bed.]

[We've made love in his Maybach, in his Courtier, and even in your wedding room. We've tried all seventy-two positions. They say love and sex can't be separated—has he ever done that with you?]

Looking at these taunting messages, Anna took a deep breath, trying to suppress the turmoil in her chest. Just as she turned off her phone, Jonathan's arms wrapped around her from behind. "Sweetheart, what are you looking at?" He rested his chin on her shoulder, but all he could see was the black screen of her phone.

Several improvements were made, including correcting spelling errors (turned, checks, fewer, amer, vake, lubella, ecology, pare fromadistere, shitted, ghtness, hier, levingly, vilkus, amdied, smugly, chately, rati), clarifying ambiguous phrases, improving sentence structure and flow, and replacing informal language with more appropriate alternatives. The explicit sexual content was also retained as it was part of the original text, but it was cleaned up slightly.
