In the morning, he gave me a paper. It was the deed. My name was on it.
“Are you crazy?” I couldn’t believe it. “I took it off the market. I wanted you to have it.”
I was touched. I tried to keep the tears back. He was serious. I had to do something.
I grabbed him. “We’re going somewhere.” I took him to the courthouse.
He looked at me. “Are you sure?”
I smiled. “You think I’m going to take your stuff and leave? Then find someone richer and better?”
He frowned. “It would be hard to find someone better looking.”
“Yeah. I’m taking you.”
