Chapter 0089
Deep down, Calvin blamed Sam for his lack of reservations. Two friends were fighting over the same woman, but Sam had revealed his intentions first. What was going to happen?
Sam waved his hand nonchalantly. “You don’t need to give me advice. I’ll find out for myself whether it’s enjoyable, forced or not.”
After leaving the café, Miranda went to the mall and bought a new scarf and wool coat. Then she went to the supermarket for groceries.
By the time she left, the sky was dark. The sun set early in winter. She quickened her pace on her way home.
It was pitch black when she reached the duplex lobby. Suddenly, a silhouette rushed from a dark corner. Thinking it was a neighborhood thug, Miranda felt a chill run down her spine, and her hair stood on end.
However, seeing it was Hansel, she sighed in relief. Nonetheless, she frowned at his drunken stumbling.
Hansel had been waiting. His nose was red from the cold.
Intoxicated, he grabbed her hand. “Mimi…”
“Let go,” Miranda pulled away uncomfortably. She could no longer tolerate his touch.
“I won’t let go unless you come back to me.”
Miranda didn’t know where this madness came from. “You’re drunk.”
“Mimi… I mean what I said…” This was the second time a man had said that to her.
Hansel continued, “You asked me before if you would become the mistress. Now, I’ve broken up with Ingrid. If you come back, I’ll pretend the affair with Sam never happened. I apologize for my words yesterday. You can yell at me or hit me if you want…”
It was late, and few pedestrians were around. The weather forecast predicted the coldest day of the winter; they should keep warm.
Miranda hadn’t felt cold earlier, but now chills ran down her back. Even her breath felt cold.
“I’m sorry,” she said, looking down. Her eyelashes trembled. “We can’t go back to the way we were.”
The stubborn Hansel finally bowed his head, but she no longer wanted him.
“With your stomach issues, you should drink less.” She pulled away and left.
Chapter 0089
Drink less…
She still cared about him!
Hansel’s eyes lit up. As before, she’d advised him to drink less. Did this mean he still had a chance?
He chased after her, clutching her arm and pulling her into an embrace. “Mimi, you still care about me, don’t you? Can we start afresh?”
He kissed her urgently.
Miranda’s eyes widened. She shoved him away and wiped her mouth in disgust. “Don’t touch me!”
Hansel froze. Miranda’s repulsion felt like knives to his skin. Even drunk, he felt suddenly cold.
Miranda said, “Actually, I’ve known all along that you cheated on me with more than one woman! Did you think you hid it well? A woman in a relationship is the best detective. Did you really think I never noticed the evidence you didn’t clean up?”
The first clue appeared after a business trip. While unpacking his suitcase, she found a corner of a condom wrapper. It was smaller than her fingernail, but she immediately recognized it wasn't the type they usually used.
