Chapter 210: Donโt Bother with Irrelevant People
Ever since the incident on the cruise, Madelineโs reputation had plummeted in high society. On top of that, with Benjaminโs tacit approval, the Kilmers quickly fell from their status as one of the elite families. To make matters worse, Madelineโs uncle was reported for damaging the packโs interests and demoted to a low-tier Beta. Madeline was no longer the lady she once was. In a bid to protect the family, the Kilmers arranged for her to marry into a wealthy, but disreputable, family with human bloodlines. At that moment, Madeline appeared with her fiancรฉ.
Hayleyโs POV:
When Madeline saw Benjamin, she instinctively stopped, biting her lip with a somewhat pitiful look. โAlpha,โ she said softly. Benjamin furrowed his brow and glanced at Madeline. His expression held no emotion, and he ignored her completely. I couldnโt help but whisper, โIsnโt that Madeline?โ Benjamin reached out and ruffled my hair. He said, โLetโs go home. Donโt bother with irrelevant people.โ I nodded and looked away. Before I could intervene this time, Benjaminโs people had already handled it, so I let Madeline off the hook for the time being. But I was the type of person who never forgets a slight. Just because I let it go now didnโt mean I wouldnโt take my revenge later.
Madelineโs POV:
I watched as Benjamin and Hayley walked past me, perfectly in sync, completely ignoring my presence. In that moment, my hatred for them boiled over. If it hadnโt been for that incident, I would have been the one with Benjamin, not Hayley. Suddenly, the man beside me kicked at me, his voice sharp with malice. โYou filthy slut. What are you looking at? Donโt forget, youโre my woman now. If you dare betray me, Iโll kill you.โ I quickly turned my gaze away. Even though I felt wronged, I still forced a smile and said, โHoney, youโre overthinking it. Youโre the only one in my heart.โ
He seemed to calm a little at my words, but his hands strayed onto my body. That man pulled me close and pinched my waist hard. He warned, โIf I catch you looking at other men again, Iโll make sure you regret it.โ I swallowed my resentment and stayed silent. He outranked me, and with my familyโs precarious situation, I still had to rely on his family to survive. So, I had to bear it. But I couldnโt help feeling bitter. Why was a hideous Omega freak like Hayley living a life of luxury, while I had fallen to such a low point?
Hayleyโs POV:
When we got home, Benjamin unloaded all the shopping bags into my room. The space was filled with a soft fragrance. โIf you need anything else, just tell me, and Iโll have Tyrone bring it over,โ Benjamin said, looking at me. I glanced at the mountain of bags in surprise, wondering how he could have bought so much. โIโm good for now; this is plenty,โ I replied. Benjamin nodded, then asked, โWhat would you like for dinner? Iโll have the kitchen prepareโฆโ I thought for a moment before replying, โIโd love some escargot and a filet mignon.โ Benjamin smiled, making a mental note. โAlright, rest for now. Come down when itโs time for dinner.โ With that, he left the room with purposeful strides.
I rubbed my cheek, looking at myself in the mirror, feeling a strange sense as if weโre in love. Laying back on the bed, staring at the ceiling, Benjaminโs image flashed in my mind, bringing a wave of happiness. Hera was pleased with my mood. She spoke up. โHayley, we need to mate with him soon.โ Every time Benjamin was near, I had to fight the strong urge Hera had to leap toward him. โItโs not the right time yet,โ I reassured Hera. Before I knew it, I had turned over in bed and drifted off to sleep.
The night fell. I was awakened by a knock on the door. I stretched lazily and glanced at the timeโit was already past seven. โMs. Carson, dinner is ready,โ came the voice of the servant at the door. โGot it, Iโll be right down,โ I called out as I quickly got out of bed, slipped on my slippers, and walked out of the room.
I ran into Henry, who was playing games on his phone. As soon as he saw me, he instinctively hid his phone and greeted me awkwardly. โBoss!โ I raised an eyebrow at him and asked, โPlaying games again?โ He looked guilty. He grunted and said, โI only played one round; it wasnโt long.โ โOther than that, Iโve been practicing piano, horseback riding, and wolf-fighting techniques.โ I nodded and asked, โMm. Did you finish your calculus homework? Anything you donโt understand?โ When this topic was brought up, Henry hurriedly said, โYes, there are several problems I couldnโt solve. Can you help me tonight?โ I eyed him with a playful glint in my eye before replying, โSure, but thereโs a condition.โ He immediately became wary. โWhatโฆcondition?โ
