Chapter 234: No Evidence
Christopherโs POV:
โI will issue a legal letter regarding the false reports online. As for the rumor-mongers, just wait for your subpoenas,โ I said, each word clear and precise, resonating through the crowd. But the reporters didnโt seem ready to back off. One of them fired another question: โMr. Christopher, if thatโs the case, then you and that female student arenโt โmates,โ are you?โ
โWhatโs your relationship then? Could you elaborate on the intimate moments you shared at the hospital? Care to explain?โ
โCan you just answer our questions directly?โ
I turned to face the reporter who had spoken. โYou all sure know how to spin a story from a photo,โ I said. โBut the truth is far from what youโve been spreading. Your deliberate fabrication of facts is already defamation. Which media outlet do you work for? Write it downโIโll sue you anytime.โ
My words hit the reporter like a punch. I knew they had only seen rumors online, with no solid evidence to back their claims.
โBut Mr. Christopher, the public needs your explanation. We need the truth,โ the reporter persisted.
Before I could respond, Christine suddenly appeared out of nowhere. She spoke up loudly, โThe truth is, all of you have misunderstood Christopher.โ
At her words, everyone turned toward her. Christine walked out of the crowd with a calm expression, stopping beside me. Our eyes met, and I almost tried to stop her, but Christine gave me a reassuring smile.
She turned to the reporters and said, โMr. Christopher and I are not in the kind of relationship you all think.โ
โThe truth is, Christopher is a good person. He accidentally bumped into me and then took me to the hospital, making sure I was okay. Heโs been checking on me regularly.โ
โThe photos you took were secretly snapped by someone with ill intentions when he was visiting me at the hospital. As for the so-called โintimate gesturesโ you all keep talking about, please look again. Those shots are just tricks of perspective.โ
โAre you saying this was all a misunderstanding? That you didnโt go to the hospital for an abortion?โ a reporter asked again.
Christine smiled, pulling out her hospital admission record and showing it to the reporters. โDoes this prove enough for you? Do you have any idea what kind of impact your rumors have on the people involved?โ she said.
The crowd fell silent. Christine pressed her lips together, then added, โWhat Iโve said is the truth. As for the online rumors, they are all completely fabricated. Please donโt spread lies. Thank you.โ
โMr. Christopher, is that really the truth? Then why didnโt you explain before? Your management agency hasnโt made any statements yet. Could you clarify this?โ Another reporter asked.
I gave them a sarcastic look and said, โHonestly, the truth doesnโt matter to you, does it? Youโre just after the drama, the clicks, with no concern for whatโs actually true.โ
โI initially chose not to engage with all of you, to protect this young lady here,โ I said, glancing at Christine. โBut now that sheโs come forward to set the record straight, I hope the rumors stop with those who are wise enough to understand the truth.โ
โAlso, I ask that you donโt disturb her life any further. If you have any questions, you can come to me. Thatโs all.โ
With that, I turned to Christine again, locking eyes with her. I didnโt expect this Omega girl to be so brave and stand by me through this.
Christine smiled at me and waved. I turned to leave, but suddenly, a loud crash came from behind us.
