Chapter 235: Leaving

Christineโ€™s legs gave out, and she fainted on the ground. โ€œChristineโ€”โ€ Christopherโ€™s voice lingered in her ears before she slipped into darkness.

Hayleyโ€™s POV: I had come with Christine. As I stood to the side, quietly observing the crowd, Christine unexpectedly fainted. Now was not the time to worry about exposing my alpha identity; I immediately moved forward. Christopher beat me to it. In front of everyone, he swiftly scooped Christine into his arms and ran toward the medical room. The moment the reporters saw this, they pulled out their cameras, snapping photos rapidly. I halted and gave them a cold, piercing gaze, wielding the presence of an alpha. Those reporters froze, intimidated by my stare and visibly shaken. โ€œCould you please stop taking photos in an emergency situation?โ€ I said, and a few reporters put their cameras down. They exchanged nervous glances. Just then, Caesar arrived. When I saw him, I finally started walking toward the medical room as well.

Outside the medical room, the doctor checked on Christine and turned to Christopher. โ€œThereโ€™s nothing serious. This young lady simply has low blood sugar. She just needs to rest, and sheโ€™ll be fine,โ€ the doctor explained. I breathed a sigh of relief. Christopher seemed to relax, too. He asked, โ€œWhen will she wake up?โ€ The doctor observed Christineโ€™s condition for a moment before responding, โ€œIt might take a few hours. Since sheโ€™s an Omega, her recovery will be slower.โ€

Once the doctor left, I warned Christopher, โ€œThis situation isnโ€™t as simple as it seems.โ€ Before I could finish, Christopher looked up at me, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes as if he had just thought of something. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. I know how to handle this.โ€

I saw no need to interfere. This was Christopherโ€™s personal matter, and I had no right to get involved. โ€œIโ€™ll take care of Christine. You should go home,โ€ I said. Christopher nodded and said, โ€œTake good care of her for me.โ€ With that, he left.

Christopherโ€™s POV: As soon as I stepped out of the medical room, Gillianโ€™s manager was already waiting by the door. โ€œChristopher, please, Gillian didnโ€™t mean any harm. Could you be generous and let her off this time?โ€ She pleaded, her voice full of desperation. I gave a cold laugh and asked, โ€œWhere is she?โ€ โ€œChristopher, it was an accident. Please, considering the years youโ€™ve worked together, donโ€™t hold this against her,โ€ she repeated. I growled, โ€œIโ€™ll ask one more time. Where is she?โ€ She shuddered and stammered, โ€œSโ€“sheโ€™s not here.โ€ I wasnโ€™t in any rush. I gave her a mocking smile and slowly said, โ€œDonโ€™t worry. This time, Iโ€™ll make her pay. Tell her to wait for me.โ€ With that, I walked away. Gillianโ€™s manager chased after me, still trying to plead for her. I bared my sharp teeth in a growl. She retreated reluctantly.

Hayleyโ€™s POV: I sat by the bed, my alpha hearing sharp enough to catch every word of their conversation. My hands clenched as I suppressed my anger. So it was Gillian who had started all of this. I looked at Christine lying on the bed and made up my mind to teach Gillian a lesson she would never forget.

Christine was fine, and she woke up about an hour later. The first thing she asked when she opened her eyes was, โ€œHayley, howโ€™s my hubby doing?โ€ I sighed and said, โ€œAll that you ever care about is him.โ€ Christine stuck out her tongue, her usual energetic self returning. โ€œHayley, I appreciate everything you did for me. Now tell me, how is he?โ€ I ruffled her hair and said, โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Heโ€™s fine. But how about you? How are you doing?โ€ Once Christine heard that Christopher was okay, her expression immediately brightened. โ€œAs long as heโ€™s alright, Iโ€™m fine too. Thank you, Hayley.โ€ โ€œFoolish girl. We donโ€™t need to thank each other,โ€ I replied, though I still worried about her health. I insisted on taking her home. After making sure she was settled in, I planned to head back to the Southwell Residence. However, no one was there to pick me up, so I took a cab on my own. As we passed Qrance Square, something suddenly crossed my mind. โ€œDriver, pull over here, please,โ€ I said, asking him to stop the car.
