Eternal Claim, Chapter 263: Make Him Pay
Irving laughed harshly, his smile twisted. โWhat should I do? What can I do? Whatโs Benjamin going to do to me? No matter what, I still have the blood of the Southwells running through me. Does he plan on betraying his family for the greater good?โ
His assistant stayed silent, though a hint of fear lingered in his eyes. โMr. Irving, maybe we should leave. Thereโs no harm in retreating.โ
โWhat if Benjamin doesnโt care about family rules and simply expels you from the pack?โ
Irving shook his head. โNo, Iโm not going anywhere. Iโll stay right here and wait for Benjamin to come for me.โ
Since he couldnโt change his bossโs mind, the assistant decided to stop trying. โTake care, Mr. Irving. If fate allows, weโll meet again.โ
With that, the assistant walked away, leaving Irving alone in his office. Slowly, Irving closed his eyes. He knew this moment had been inevitable.
Hayleyโs POV:
On the day of Georgeโs funeral, almost all the key leaders of the important packs showed up. I had been by Benjaminโs side, keeping him company at the memorial hall for three days straight. He hadnโt eaten or drunk anything, and he looked utterly drained.
โBen, please, just eat something. You canโt keep going like this,โ Henry urged him, but Benjamin didnโt respond. Since his words had no effect, Henry turned to me for help.
โBoss, can you talk to Ben? Grandpaโs gone now, let him rest in peace. We, the living, still have to carry on. As the Alpha, he canโt keep hurting his body.โ
I looked at Benjamin, knowing how deeply he was hurting. Because of their fated bond, my wolf, Hera, could sense his pain at all times. Right now, no words would do justice to the hurt in his heart.
I signaled Henry to leave before I spoke softly to Benjamin, โPlease, eat something. Your body wonโt handle this much longer.โ
Benjaminโs eyes flickered, a hint of response. He lifted his gaze, his eyes as deep as ever, impossible to read. His voice was hoarse when he spoke. โI need to go somewhere. Iโll eat when I return.โ
With that, Benjamin stood up and walked out. I called after him, but he didnโt look back, striding away with determination.
Benjaminโs POV:
Tyrone was waiting outside. When he saw me, he hurried over. โAlpha!โ
I didnโt waste time. โDid you find everything I asked for?โ
Tyrone handed me a file. โHere it is. All the details are in here.โ
โSo, itโs him,โ I muttered, flipping through the papers, my hands tightening into fists. โLetโs go. Weโre going to confront him. Also, take these to the police and get the best lawyer we can. I want him locked up for life.โ
โYes, Alpha.โ
I slammed the car door shut, eager to find this man and make him pay. I wanted nothing more than to face him right now, and sink my teeth into his throat.
When I arrived at the massive office building, I saw Irving standing alone in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, staring off into the distance.
โYou finally arrived,โ Irving said, his tone calm, almost like heโd been expecting me. โYou show up earlier than I thought.โ
Rage boiled inside me. Without thinking, I let Lawrence take control of my body. In an instant, I lunged at Irving, knocking him to the ground. For a moment, I nearly lost control and tore his throat out. But I steadied myself and growled, โDid you do this?โ
Irving didnโt deny it. He simply replied, โYes.โ
I didnโt hesitate. I raised my fist and slammed it into his left cheek. Irving winced from the pain, but he didnโt make a sound. He met my gaze and calmly said, โThatโs right. I did it all. But Benjamin, I didnโt want Grandpaโs life. I wanted yours. He died in your place.โ
Hearing such cold, merciless words from him made my fury flare again. I threw another punch, growling, โYou bโโstard!โ
Irvingโs expression was indifferent. โGo ahead, hit me. Kill me if you like.โ
I closed my eyes, shaking with anger. Punch after punch rained down on him.
โBenjamin, even if you kill me, what does it change? Grandpa is already gone. Killing me wonโt bring him back.โ
Irvingโs words hit me like a blow. Grandpa was gone, and my heart felt as if it had been hollowed out.
Helplessly, I stopped, staring down at Irving. I let out a cold laugh. โYouโre right. Killing you wonโt change the truth. But since thatโs the case, Iโll make sure you live in torment for the rest of your days. Donโt worryโI wonโt let you die easily. Iโll make sure you suffer for the rest of your life.โ
12:23 Tue, Jan 7 GG.
Irving frowned, and there was a flicker of fear in his eye. โWhat are you going to do to me?โ
