Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 264: He Killed Grandpa

Benjaminโ€™s POV:

Seeing that devil, Irving, cower in fear, I finally felt a little better. I waved my hand, summoning two high-ranking Beta warriors into the room. As the Alpha of the Midnight Pack, I announced firmly, โ€œIrving is being charged with premeditated murder. Lock him up and interrogate him harshly!โ€

At my command, the Beta warriors quickly handcuffed Irving. โ€œMr. Southwell, you are accused of premeditated murder. Come with us.โ€ Irving stared at me, his eyes wide with terror. โ€œBenjamin, what are you doing? Donโ€™t forget, Iโ€™m a Southwell too! Isnโ€™t this a bit much?โ€ he cried. I ignored him, watching as he was led away. Only then did I look away.

Irvingโ€™s POV:

Instead of being taken directly to the Midnight Packโ€™s prison, I was brought to the Southwellsโ€™ Residence. Seeing all the familiar surroundings, I struggled desperately. โ€œWhat are you doing? Why are you bringing me here? I donโ€™t belong here! Let me go!โ€ But the Beta warriors acted as if they didnโ€™t even hear me, taking me straight into the mourning hall.

All around, peopleโ€™s eyes were fixed on me. I couldnโ€™t control my shaking, and I didnโ€™t dare look up at Grandpaโ€™s portrait. My head stayed lowered the entire time. โ€œIrving, you b*stard! How dare you show your face here!โ€ Henry transformed into a wolf, baring his sharp fangs as if ready to charge at me. Christopher grabbed him, holding him back. โ€œHenry, donโ€™t act on impulse.โ€

Henry glared at me with fury. โ€œHe killed Grandpa! Heโ€™s a murderer!โ€ Hearing those words, my body shook even harder. I shook my head over and over. โ€œNo, it wasnโ€™t me! This wasnโ€™t what I intended! I didnโ€™t want it to turn out like this!โ€

Hayleyโ€™s cold voice cut through the tension. โ€œBow and apologize to Grandpa Southwell,โ€ Her voice rang out slowly, filled with so much hate that it made my heart ache. I was about to bow when someone kicked my calf. My knee hit the ground with a thud.

Benjaminโ€™s voice came from behind me. โ€œGrandpa, Iโ€™ve brought him here. You always told me to value family, but who could have known heโ€™d be the one to take you away from us? Iโ€™m sorry, but I canโ€™t listen to you anymore.โ€ Take him away!

As the Beta warriors restrained me and led me out of the Southwellsโ€™ residence, my heart ached. As I left, I glanced at Hayley one last time, slowly closing my eyes. This wasnโ€™t what I wanted. Grandpa, Iโ€™m sorry.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

After Grandpa Southwellโ€™s funeral, the Midnight Pack returned to normal, and the Southwells resumed their usual roles. But it was strange. There was a space in our home that I couldnโ€™t get used to. For instance, when I returned from school, Iโ€™d automatically glance at the living room. Grandpa Southwell used to sit there, watching TV or playing chess, but now it was empty. Iโ€™d never see the kind-hearted old man again.

The thought of it made my throat tighten. I quickly looked away and headed up the stairs. Since Grandpa Southwellโ€™s death, Benjamin had become unusually busy. He no longer had time to drive me to school, a task he used to handle easily. Hera, unable to be near him, was clearly in pain, and I couldnโ€™t help but feel sorry for her.

Today, once again, it was Henry who dropped me off at school. He said, โ€œBoss, finals are coming up. Letโ€™s hit the library this afternoon.โ€ I gazed out at the bare trees, still finding it hard to believe that winter was already halfway through.

โ€œTomorrow is Christmas Eve, right?โ€ I casually remarked. Henry quickly checked the calendar. โ€œYes, tomorrow is the 24th, and the day after is Christmas. I heard thereโ€™s supposed to be snow on Christmas Day. I wonder if we will see it.โ€ I withdrew my gaze and said, โ€œI saw the weather forecastโ€”seems like snow is coming. Weโ€™ll just have to wait and see.โ€ We got out of the car and walked together toward the school.

As soon as we entered the classroom, I overheard some of the students chatting. โ€œI heard Tristaโ€™s new drama is airing tonight on Netflix. Letโ€™s all watch it together to support her.โ€ โ€œTristaโ€™s acting is really good. The trailer already got me hooked. Iโ€™m definitely watching tonight.โ€

I pulled out my chair and sat down. Christine immediately leaned over. She suggested, โ€œSince Tristaโ€™s show is airing tonight, letโ€™s celebrate her success together.โ€ I agreed. โ€œItโ€™s her first drama, and she did well. Iโ€™ll order a bouquet for her later.โ€ โ€œGreat! Iโ€™ll get her a gift too,โ€ Christine said, eyeing me with curiosity. Then, in a teasing tone, she asked, โ€œHayz, has Christopher been up to anything recently?โ€

I raised an eyebrow and asked, โ€œYou donโ€™t know your own husbandโ€™s schedule?โ€ Christine blushed slightly. โ€œIโ€”I donโ€™t know! I just heard heโ€™s been busy lately.โ€ I felt a hint of suspicion rise. โ€œWait, Christine, whatโ€™s going on? Why are you so interested in Christopherโ€™s plans?โ€
