Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 264: He Killed Grandpa
Benjaminโs POV:
Seeing that devil, Irving, cower in fear, I finally felt a little better. I waved my hand, summoning two high-ranking Beta warriors into the room. As the Alpha of the Midnight Pack, I announced firmly, โIrving is being charged with premeditated murder. Lock him up and interrogate him harshly!โ
At my command, the Beta warriors quickly handcuffed Irving. โMr. Southwell, you are accused of premeditated murder. Come with us.โ Irving stared at me, his eyes wide with terror. โBenjamin, what are you doing? Donโt forget, Iโm a Southwell too! Isnโt this a bit much?โ he cried. I ignored him, watching as he was led away. Only then did I look away.
Irvingโs POV:
Instead of being taken directly to the Midnight Packโs prison, I was brought to the Southwellsโ Residence. Seeing all the familiar surroundings, I struggled desperately. โWhat are you doing? Why are you bringing me here? I donโt belong here! Let me go!โ But the Beta warriors acted as if they didnโt even hear me, taking me straight into the mourning hall.
All around, peopleโs eyes were fixed on me. I couldnโt control my shaking, and I didnโt dare look up at Grandpaโs portrait. My head stayed lowered the entire time. โIrving, you b*stard! How dare you show your face here!โ Henry transformed into a wolf, baring his sharp fangs as if ready to charge at me. Christopher grabbed him, holding him back. โHenry, donโt act on impulse.โ
Henry glared at me with fury. โHe killed Grandpa! Heโs a murderer!โ Hearing those words, my body shook even harder. I shook my head over and over. โNo, it wasnโt me! This wasnโt what I intended! I didnโt want it to turn out like this!โ
Hayleyโs cold voice cut through the tension. โBow and apologize to Grandpa Southwell,โ Her voice rang out slowly, filled with so much hate that it made my heart ache. I was about to bow when someone kicked my calf. My knee hit the ground with a thud.
Benjaminโs voice came from behind me. โGrandpa, Iโve brought him here. You always told me to value family, but who could have known heโd be the one to take you away from us? Iโm sorry, but I canโt listen to you anymore.โ Take him away!
As the Beta warriors restrained me and led me out of the Southwellsโ residence, my heart ached. As I left, I glanced at Hayley one last time, slowly closing my eyes. This wasnโt what I wanted. Grandpa, Iโm sorry.
Hayleyโs POV:
After Grandpa Southwellโs funeral, the Midnight Pack returned to normal, and the Southwells resumed their usual roles. But it was strange. There was a space in our home that I couldnโt get used to. For instance, when I returned from school, Iโd automatically glance at the living room. Grandpa Southwell used to sit there, watching TV or playing chess, but now it was empty. Iโd never see the kind-hearted old man again.
The thought of it made my throat tighten. I quickly looked away and headed up the stairs. Since Grandpa Southwellโs death, Benjamin had become unusually busy. He no longer had time to drive me to school, a task he used to handle easily. Hera, unable to be near him, was clearly in pain, and I couldnโt help but feel sorry for her.
Today, once again, it was Henry who dropped me off at school. He said, โBoss, finals are coming up. Letโs hit the library this afternoon.โ I gazed out at the bare trees, still finding it hard to believe that winter was already halfway through.
โTomorrow is Christmas Eve, right?โ I casually remarked. Henry quickly checked the calendar. โYes, tomorrow is the 24th, and the day after is Christmas. I heard thereโs supposed to be snow on Christmas Day. I wonder if we will see it.โ I withdrew my gaze and said, โI saw the weather forecastโseems like snow is coming. Weโll just have to wait and see.โ We got out of the car and walked together toward the school.
As soon as we entered the classroom, I overheard some of the students chatting. โI heard Tristaโs new drama is airing tonight on Netflix. Letโs all watch it together to support her.โ โTristaโs acting is really good. The trailer already got me hooked. Iโm definitely watching tonight.โ
I pulled out my chair and sat down. Christine immediately leaned over. She suggested, โSince Tristaโs show is airing tonight, letโs celebrate her success together.โ I agreed. โItโs her first drama, and she did well. Iโll order a bouquet for her later.โ โGreat! Iโll get her a gift too,โ Christine said, eyeing me with curiosity. Then, in a teasing tone, she asked, โHayz, has Christopher been up to anything recently?โ
I raised an eyebrow and asked, โYou donโt know your own husbandโs schedule?โ Christine blushed slightly. โIโI donโt know! I just heard heโs been busy lately.โ I felt a hint of suspicion rise. โWait, Christine, whatโs going on? Why are you so interested in Christopherโs plans?โ
