Chapter 282: The Truth Will Come to Light

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

Over the past few days, Benjamin had noticed my worry about Christine. He should understand how important she is to me.

As an Alpha, I had spent most of my life in intense training, leaving me with little time for friends. The only one close to me had been my assistant, Thomas. Later, when I disguised myself as an Omega and lived with the Midnight Pack, Christine was the first classmate who accepted me for who I truly was.

Benjamin tried to comfort me. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Maybe she has something she canโ€™t share right now.โ€

I still looked at him, confused, unable to find a reasonable answer.

โ€œAlright, stop thinking about it for now. At least we know sheโ€™s still alive. As for everything else, when she returns, everything will be made clear. Donโ€™t stress,โ€ he said.

I turned to look out the window, silently praying that Christine would come back soon.

When I got home, I adjusted to the time difference before heading to school. I missed quite a bit of class due to the incident in Smulia. I had taken a lot of days off, but since my grades were good, the teachers didnโ€™t say much about it.

โ€œTomorrow begins exam week, everyone. Make sure you have your revision,โ€ my math teacher said from the front of the classroom, his gaze shifting toward me. โ€œIf you have a question about anything, feel free to come by my office and ask.โ€

โ€œGot it, teacher,โ€ I replied.

The class responded, and everyone closed their textbooks.

After gathering my things, I was about to leave the room when the math teacher stopped me in the hallway.

โ€œHayley, I know your foundation is strong, but youโ€™ve been absent quite frequently this semester. If thereโ€™s anything youโ€™re falling behind on, donโ€™t hesitate to ask. The final exams are just around the corner, and I hope you can maintain your usual performance and get the results you deserve.โ€

I could feel the genuine concern in his words. I thanked him sincerely. โ€œThank you, Mr. Carver. Iโ€™ll do my best.โ€

He said no more but reminded me as I started to walk away, โ€œIf anythingโ€™s unclear, just ask. Donโ€™t be shy.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re the most talented student Iโ€™ve had in all my years of teaching. If you ever decide to specialize in math, youโ€™ll be a shining star in the field,โ€ he added.

I smiled and replied, โ€œI understand. Thank you, Mr. Carver.โ€

With a wave, I left.

โ€œHenry, are you confident about the exams?โ€

Henry nodded. โ€œI should be fine, but Iโ€™m still a bit behind you.โ€

I encouraged him, โ€œDonโ€™t worry about comparing yourself to me. Just focus on improving yourself. As long as you make progress with each test, thatโ€™s what matters.โ€

Henry looked up at me with determination. โ€œBoss, donโ€™t worry! Iโ€™ll work hard and catch up to you soon.โ€

โ€œGood! Keep at it,โ€ I said. Then, I asked, โ€œIs there anything you donโ€™t understand?โ€

Henry grinned and quickly handed me his workbook.

โ€œCan you explain this problem?โ€

I glanced at it, and the solution came to me. Taking a piece of scratch paper, I began solving the problem for him, fully focused on the steps.

โ€œThis is the general approach. The final result is v3. You can double-check it yourself,โ€ I said.

Hera, who had been watching, started getting excited.

I set my pen down, and when I looked up, I saw Benjamin standing in the doorway.

Surprised, I quickly stood up and asked, โ€œWhen did you get back?โ€
