Eternal Claim: Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 284: Shattering My Illusions
Madelineโs POV:
I was startled by his stern command and quickly bowed respectfully. His cold attitude left me feeling hurt. Embarrassed, I forced a smile and said, โAlpha, after all, we grew up together. Even if we canโt be lovers, canโt we at least be friends?โ
Benjamin replied coldly, โSorry, Iโm not interested.โ Without another word, he stood up and instructed the waiter, โPlease pack this up.โ The waiter quickly packed everything and handed it to him. โAlpha, itโs all ready.โ Benjamin took the takeout and walked away without sparing me a glance.
I refused to give up and chased after him. โAlpha, I was foolish before and made mistakes. I know I was wrong. Can you forget everything that happened and forgive me? Can we go back to how we were before?โ
Benjamin, clearly impatient, bared his sharp, wolf-like teeth at me. โStop bothering me! If you donโt, Iโll deal with you myself.โ The thought of him transforming into a wolf to punish me terrified me, making my whole body shake. His words shattered all of my illusions.
I had hoped that if we both acted as if nothing had happened, we could return to being as close as we once wereโfriends, as if nothing had ever changed. But I had completely forgottenโhe wasnโt just my childhood friend. He was the Alpha of the Midnight Pack.
โAlpha, Iโm sorry, Iโฆโ I quickly lowered my head in apology. Benjamin didnโt listen. He opened the car door, got in, and drove off without a second glance.
A deep sense of frustration washed over me. Why was this happening? We had never been like this before. Now, he wouldnโt even spare me a single word! When did everything begin to change?
My mind drifted back to when Hayley first arrived at Midnight Pack. My hands clenched into fists. It was all because of Hayley! โHayley! That b*tch!โ I muttered, furious. She must have done something to make Benjamin hate me so much.
Hayleyโs POV:
Today was the last day of finals week. I walked into the exam room with confidence, feelingโฆ Before the official time was up, I had completed all the questions and left the room. I returned to the Southwellsโ house, dropped my bag, and headed upstairs. Henry followed me closely, threw his bag down, and went straight to his room to play video games. Even from upstairs, I could still hear the sound of his game.
I closed my door, shutting out the noise, and dialed my grandmotherโs number. โGrandma, Iโll come home in a couple of days to keep you company.โ Before I could finish, Grandma quickly interrupted, โHayz, thereโs no need to come home. Your grandfather and I are going on a trip, and weโll be gone for quite some time.โ
I was taken aback. โWhen did you leave? Why didnโt you tell me?โ Grandma laughed and said, โIt was a last-minute decision, so we didnโt get a chance to let you know. You should stay at Midnight Pack. No need to come back to Shadow Pack.โ
Seeing she was set on it, I sighed. โAlright, stay safe and come back soon.โ After hanging up, Bill quickly asked, โHow did it go? Did anything slip?โ
Dorothy smiled mysteriously. โWho do you think I am? Of course, nothing slipped. Hayz will never suspect that weโre heading to Midnight Pack in a couple of days. When she sees us, sheโll be so surprised.โ
