Hayleyโs POV:
I walked out of the restaurant, my mind racing with worry. I hailed a taxi and quickly got in. I didnโt expect someone would come after me, let alone kidnap my assistant, Thomas. Who could it be? Thomas, as my assistant and a high-ranking beta, rarely encountered any opponents. Who could possibly kidnap him? All these years, I thought I had concealed everything perfectly, but I never imagined someone would still catch on. It seemed tonight was going to be a tough fight.
I made a phone call. โIโll give you half an hour. Get three million dollars ready.โ When the person on the other end heard my voice, they sounded surprised. โAlpha, is that you?โ
I grunted in response and gave my orders. โHurry up and get everything ready. Iโll be there to pick it up soon. Also, get a high-performance car and a weapon ready.โ
โOkay. Got it.โ
I hung up the phone, my anxiety growing. I couldnโt stop worrying about Thomas, so I quickly urged the driver to go faster.
Benjaminโs POV:
After Hayley left, I stared at the empty chair, a sense of loss washing over me. Just as I was about to leave, my assistant, Tyrone, called.
โAlpha, we have new intel. Something big is going down tonight. Someoneโs kidnapped a key member of Drakon Claw. It looks like theyโre trying to lure out the organizationโs boss.โ
I smiled. โWhoโs bold enough to target their people?โ
โWe havenโt gathered any specific intel yet, but from what weโve heard, itโs a pretty big operation. Our men are hesitant to move without more information, so I wanted to ask your opinion.โ
Drakon Claw was a criminal organization that had risen to power rapidly over the past three years. Its influence spread quickly, and in just three years, it had already claimed half of the underground territory. However, the leader of Drakon Claw had never been seen in public. There were countless rumors surrounding this mysterious figure. Their true identity had become the stuff of legend, and nearly every underground figure was desperate to uncover the real face behind Drakon Claw. I, too, was no exception.
โUnderstood, Alpha.โ
After hanging up, I sat there, staring at the empty seat, deep in thought. It was common knowledge that North Annestone was home to two major underground organizations, the rapidly rising Drakon Claw and the long-established Thunder. But what no one knew was I, the Alpha of the most powerful pack, the Midnight Pack, was the leader of Thunder. Given the organizationโs mysterious and formidable reputation, not to mention its โevilโ image, I couldnโt help but worry. If Hayley knew about this side of me, would she still choose to be with me?
Hayleyโs POV:
When I arrived at the designated location, everything I needed was already prepared. The man respectfully asked, โAlpha, this is everything you requested. Is this enough?โ
I glanced at the items and ordered, โItโs enough. Now bring me my mask.โ
โOf course.โ He swiftly returned with a lifelike fox mask, which I put on.
โDo you need us to go with you?โ he asked.
I instructed, โYou can station some beta warriors nearby to provide backup. Use the sound of weapons as a signal. If Iโm not out within half an hour, and you havenโt heard from me, then charge in.โ
โUnderstood.โ
I had the three million dollars loaded into the car, then quickly got into the driverโs seat. I inserted the car key, pressed the gas pedal, and sped off. Driving at high speed, I completed the 30-minute journey in just 15 minutes and arrived at Westhill Manor. The place was eerily quiet, so quiet that it sent a shiver down my spine. I glanced at my watch. There were still 20 minutes left until the agreed time. I didnโt rush. Instead, I sat in the car, taking my time to survey the surroundings.
But just two minutes later, my phone buzzed in my pocket.
โAs I expected, you actually came alone. I must admit, I admire your courage.โ
