Chapter 334: On Purpose

Hayleyโ€™s POV: +8 Pearls

โ€œOh, Iโ€™m so sorry, I didnโ€™t mean to!โ€ Belleโ€™s voice sounded apologetic, but her tone was anything but sincere. I glanced at the coffee stains spreading across my workbook and frowned. Just as I was about to clean it up, Belle beat me to it. She grabbed some tissues and began wiping at my workbook, rubbing so hard that the pages ended up smeared and crumpled.

โ€œI wiped it up for you! Surely you wonโ€™t hold a grudge against me over this, right?โ€ she said, smiling smugly.

I stared at the mess she had made of my workbook, fists clenched tightly. Lifting my gaze, I fixed her with a cold stare. โ€œYou didnโ€™t do that โ€˜on purpose,โ€™ yet you managed to ruin my workbook this thoroughly?โ€

Belle shrugged, completely unfazed. โ€œI already apologized. What more do you want from me?โ€

The moment she finished speaking, I grabbed the water cup on my desk and, without hesitation, splashed it straight onto her face. โ€œOops, sorry! I didnโ€™t mean to do that. Youโ€™re such a generous personโ€”Iโ€™m sure you wonโ€™t hold it against me, right?โ€ I said, mimicking her tone.

Belle stood there, completely stunned. Water dripped from her hair and face, and she looked like a drowned rat. Drops slid from her forehead and onto the floor.

โ€œHayley, you b*tch!โ€ She gritted her teeth and shouted my name, seething with rage. โ€œYou did that on purpose!โ€

I let out a cold laugh and replied calmly, โ€œWerenโ€™t you the one who started it? Or are you saying what you did wasnโ€™t on purpose?โ€

My words sent her into a fit of fury. Her wolf instincts flared, and she bared her sharp fangs at me, ready to lunge. But the next second, I saw her eyes narrow slyly, as if sheโ€™d thought of something. She pulled back, regaining control, and sneered, โ€œYouโ€™re in a bad mood, arenโ€™t you?โ€

โ€œCould it be that Benjamin rejected you? And now you have nowhere to vent your anger, so youโ€™re taking it out on me? If thatโ€™s the case, I totally understand,โ€ she said mockingly.

I shot back without hesitation, my tone sharp and disdainful: โ€œYou? A punching bag for me? Donโ€™t flatter yourself. Youโ€™re not even worth that.โ€

I looked at her with pure contempt, my gaze slicing through her smugness. Belleโ€™s face turned a deep shade of red, and she started hurling insults like a madwoman. โ€œHayley, you pathetic Omega! Just because the Southwell family is shielding you doesnโ€™t mean you can strut around the school acting untouchable!โ€

โ€œA man like Benjamin deserves to be with a high-ranking Beta or elite Alpha lady. Do you think an Omega like you could ever dream of marrying into the Southwell family? Keep dreaming!โ€

โ€œBenjamin is only interested in you because youโ€™re new and novel to him. Once he gets bored, youโ€™ll be kicked out of the Midnight Pack in no time!โ€

I listened to her rant with an expressionless face, my emotions perfectly composed. When she finished, I asked flatly, โ€œAre you done?โ€

Belle seemed unsatisfied and opened her mouth to keep going. โ€œEven if youโ€™re clinging to the title of Benjaminโ€™s fiancรฉe right now, that position wonโ€™t stay secure for long. You shouldnโ€™t act so high and mighty, or youโ€™ll embarrass yourself when you fall from grace.โ€

She let out all the venom sheโ€™d been holding back, clearly enjoying herself. I knew she was waiting for me to crumble, for her words to hurt me enough to show weakness or pain. But her words had no effect on me.

I calmly looked her in the eye and said, โ€œEven if one day Iโ€™m no longer Benjaminโ€™s fiancรฉe, that title will never go to you. And it definitely wonโ€™t go to your so-called cousin Madeline. Benjamin isnโ€™t blindโ€”he doesnโ€™t just settle for anyone.โ€

I spoke slowly and deliberately, each word cutting like a blade. The entire classroom went silent. Belleโ€™s face turned pale, and her lips trembled as she struggled to form a reply.

I lifted my chin slightly, maintaining my composure, and continued, โ€œAnd as for the position of Luna of the Midnight Pack, it means nothing to me.โ€

โ€œBut for someone like you, that position is something youโ€™ll never reachโ€”not in this lifetime. So tell me, Belle, on what basis do you think you have the right to act arrogantly in front of me?โ€

โ€œHow dare you!โ€ Belle looked like she was about to explode, her chest heaving with suppressed fury.

โ€œWhat?โ€ I said coldly. โ€œMs. Hunter,โ€ I addressed her directly, my tone harsh and commanding. โ€œDid you forget about what happened last time? I didnโ€™t want to pursue the matter further, but you promised to apologize and still havenโ€™t said a single wordโ€”not even shown the slightest hint of regret.โ€

โ€œAnd now, donโ€™t you think itโ€™s time for you to take responsibility for your actions?โ€ My words hit her like a hammer, and she stood there frozen, her face a mix of anger and humiliation.
