Chapter 396: If You Donโt Come, Deal with the Consequences.
Hayleyโs POV
A familiar female voice came through the phone: โItโs Odessa. Where are you right now?โ
Hearing the voice, I paused before responding. I quickly called out, โMrs. Southwell, do you need something?โ
โIโm shopping at Evermore Mall right now. Come pick me up.โ
โButโโ I had just started speaking when Odessa cut me off. โDonโt want to? Thatโs fine, just pretend I didnโt ask.โ
I sighed helplessly. โThatโs not what I meant. Itโs just that I have some things to take care of here. How about you keep shopping, and Iโll come over a bit later?โ
โIโll give you half an hour. If you donโt come by then, deal with the consequences yourself.โ
With that, Odessa hung up the call.
Listening to the beeping tone from the receiver, I suddenly lost all appetite for the meal in front of me. After checking the time, I paid the bill and immediately called for a ride to Evermore Mall.
โOdessa, do you think sheโll really come?โ A stylishly dressed woman clung to Odessaโs arm, her tone soft and sweet.
Odessa snorted. โNo matter what, Iโm still her future mother-in-law. If she doesnโt come, then thereโs no point in maintaining this relationship any longer.โ
Vivian Jagged felt a flicker of joy at those words, but she didnโt let it show. Instead, she said with a regretful tone, โHonestly, I think Ben is such a great guy. I just donโt understand why heโd get engaged to an Omega like her.โ
Odessa quickly took her hand and said, โVivian, you know this! Your mother and I have been best friends for so many years. In my heart, youโre the only rightful Luna for our Midnight Pack. As for this Hayley, sheโs nothing more than someone that old man arranged. Now that heโs gone, this engagement doesnโt hold any weight anymore.โ
โReally, Odessa?โ Vivianโs excitement lit up instantly at her words.
โTrust me, of course, itโs true. Once Hayley gets here, weโll make sure she fully understands the gap between her and our circle,โ Odessa said with absolute confidence.
Vivian nodded vaguely, then sneered, โI heard Hayley comes from the Shadow Pack, that remote and backward place. Sheโs probably never even been to a mall before! If she sees that the clothes and bags we casually buy cost tens of thousands, sheโll probably be green with envy and realize what a joke she really is.โ
Odessa scoffed with disdain. โI just donโt understand how an Omega like her caught that old manโs eye. She probably played the pity card to gain sympathy. A woman like that is nowhere near worthy of our Alpha Benjamin.โ
โDonโt worry, Odessa. Sheโs just an Omega. Iโll make sure to teach her a proper lesson later,โ Vivianโs expression turned dark and malicious as she spoke.
Hearing Vivianโs words, Odessa immediately felt reassured.
Hayleyโs POV:
It took me half an hour to rush over to Odessa.
โMrs. Southwell, Iโm here.โ
Odessa gave me a cold glance and said, โJoin us for some shopping.โ
It was only then, thanks to her comment, that I noticed the Beta girl standing next to her, dressed head-to-toe in designer brands.
Out of politeness, I smiled and nodded in greeting. โHello! Iโm Hayley Carson.โ
She returned my smile as she spoke, โHello, Iโm Vivian Blackwell. Iโve heard all about you from Odessa! Youโre the Luna Ben picked, right? Ben is so lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend like you,โ Vivian said, her tone dripping with subtle sarcasm.
I quickly picked up on the underlying mockery, but she kept up a polite facade, so I responded calmly, โThank you. Youโre beautiful as well.โ
Vivian didnโt reply, instead casually linking her arm with Odessa.
โOdessa, I heard Chanel released a new collection. Letโs go check it out.โ
โSure, letโs go take a look.โ
The two of them walked ahead, as close as a mother and daughter, completely ignoring me trailing behind.
