Chapter 467: Donโt Call Me Grandma
Hayleyโs POV:
Freyaโs voice came from behind me, โGrandma, I heard youโre backโฆโ Something about her made my wolf, Hera, uneasy and repulsed by her scent. Before I could reflect further, Freya entered the room. She stopped short at the sight before her and exclaimed in surprise, โGrandma, youโฆโ
She could not finish her sentence before Mrs. Laurel, rising from the floor, cut her off sharply, โYou demon, donโt call me Grandma!โ
Freya, unfazed, responded calmly, โGrandma, what are you saying? Iโve always been your granddaughter. Even if Dad and Peter canโt be here, I will still look after you and Mom.โ
Mrs. Laurel scoffed, โNonsense! You just want the family fortune. Dream on! Iโd rather donate everything than leave you a penny!โ
Despite the accusation, Freya stayed calm and explained, โGrandma, thatโs not true. Mom really likes Ms. Carson, so I invited her to keep her company. Having Ms. Carson around might make Mom feel better.โ
โGet out! Both of you, get out!โ Mrs. Laurel shouted, pushing Freya towards the door without listening to any more explanations. Freya was forced out, and then Mrs. Laurel turned her fierce gaze on me, growling, โAre you leaving on your own, or do I need to throw you out?โ
I quickly tried to defuse the situation, โPlease, calm down. Iโll leave on my own.โ
Mrs. Laurel huffed coldly and stepped aside to let me pass. As I walked out, the woman known as Virginia clung tightly to my clothes, following me.
โCome back, Virginia! Come back!โ Mrs. Laurel yelled out in frustration. However, Virginia only had eyes for me, not letting go. She smiled warmly at me, her eyes filled with affection. โMichelle, donโt be scared of Grandma. Grandma loves you the most!โ
As she finished, Mrs. Laurel, overhearing, exclaimed, โVirginia, what did you just say?โ
I stayed quiet, knowing she had mistaken me for her daughter once again. Virginia turned to Mrs. Laurel and calmly asked, โMom, shouldnโt Michelle call you Grandma?โ
Tears of anger formed in Mrs. Laurelโs eyes as she grasped Virginiaโs hand. โWhat did you just call me? You called me Mom! Virginia, you finally remember meโฆโ
Virginia clung to me, appealing to Mrs. Laurel, โMom, please donโt send Michelle away, okay?โ
Mrs. Laurel nodded in agreement, โOkay, she can stay.โ Then, turning to me with a softened look, she asked, โHayley, can you stay a bit longer to talk with her?โ
After a brief pause, I nodded, โSure.โ
Mrs. Laurel then directed her attention toward Freya, her tone harsh, โDemon, canโt you understand? Get away from me!โ
As I turned, I saw Freya attempt to speak, but Mrs. Laurel slammed the door shut with a resounding thud. Outside, Freya stood, her teeth clenched in frustration, her fists balled at her sides. A servant cautiously approached her. โMs. Freya, are you okay?โ
Freya responded icily, โIโm fine!โ The servant hesitated before asking, โWill bringing Hayley here disrupt our plans?โ
Freya gave a dismissive glance. โThe newly enrolled Omega college student? What threat could she possibly be? If that madwoman likes her, let it fulfill her last wishes. Itโs a small price to pay for all these years spent looking after her and her daughter. As for Hayley, that naรฏve Omega who wonโt even take moneyโdonโt worry. Sheโs no threat to my plans. Not many are as foolish as her in this world.โ
With that, Freya walked off with confidence. Inside, Mrs. Laurel stood by the door, overhearing Freyaโs conversation. It was then she realized that perhaps she had misunderstood Hayley.
