Chapter 506: Benjaminโ€™s Regrets

Benjaminโ€™s POV

โ€œIrving! Youโ€™re sick!โ€ Henry, furious beyond measure, tried to snatch the phone from me to curse him out. But Irving had already hung up. โ€œDamn it!โ€ Henry punched the wall in frustration.

โ€œHow did Irving turn into thisโ€ฆ heโ€™s a complete lost case,โ€ Christopher said, his voice laced with bitterness. โ€œBut hasnโ€™t he been on the run ever since he lost his wolf? How could he just suddenly reappear like this?โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s rightโ€”I made a mistake,โ€ I admitted, the weight of regret crushing me. โ€œI should never have stubbornly upheld those family traditions and spared his life. Last time, I only stripped him of his wolf when he escaped from Hayley. I thought I was being merciful, but clearly, I was far too soft.โ€

After a moment of deep thought, I made up my mind and gave my orders. โ€œWe save them both!โ€ I stood up and turned to my second-in-command. โ€œIssue a global bounty. Find Dr. Ahern at all costs!โ€

Right now, the most urgent thing was saving my motherโ€™s life. If she survived, Hayleyโ€™s name could be cleared. As for convincing my mother, I would figure that out later.

Dr. Claudio Ahern was known as the best doctor, but everyone knew he was always on the move with no fixed pack to call home. No one could directly contact him; seeking his medical expertise often depended entirely on luck. But given the precarious state of my motherโ€™s life, how much longer could we wait? As the Alpha of the Midnight Pack, I had no choice but to mobilize every resource to find him.

Perhaps the Moon Goddess herself took pity on us, because the very next night, as I sat in the hospital room watching over my mother, a stranger suddenly appeared before me.

โ€œI hear youโ€™ve been looking for me,โ€ the man said as he stepped into the room with a straight face.

โ€œYouโ€™reโ€ฆ Dr. Claudio Ahern?โ€ I stood up cautiously, trying to assess him. Lawrence, standing beside me, immediately recognized him as an Alpha of equal rank to mine. That confirmed his identity for me.

โ€œMm-hmm,โ€ Claudio admitted nonchalantly. โ€œNeed me to prove it? Though I wouldnโ€™t recommend wasting timeโ€”plenty of others are searching for me too. I suggest we proceed with the surgery immediately.โ€

Claudioโ€™s lips curled into a slight smile. โ€œArenโ€™t you worried I might have come here to sabotage you?โ€

โ€œIf I doubted you, I wouldnโ€™t have called you. And if Iโ€™ve called you, Iโ€™ll trust you,โ€ I replied sincerely.

โ€œGood. I like doing business with decisive people,โ€ Claudio said as he set his bag on the table and began examining my motherโ€™s condition. While working, he casually remarked, โ€œThe fee is ten million dollars. Any problem with that?โ€

โ€œNo problem. If my mother pulls through safely, Iโ€™ll throw in another ten million as a bonus,โ€ I answered without hesitation.

โ€œDeal.โ€

The surgery began quickly, and Claudio worked efficiently. By the end of the operation, my mother was out of immediate danger, though she had fallen into a temporary coma.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

When I heard that Odessaโ€™s surgery had been a success, I finally let out a sigh of relief. Thomas continued with his report. โ€œAlpha, the restaurantโ€™s surveillance footage was wiped clean, but I found a witness who can confirm that Irving was there. However, the witness is too scared of retaliation and refuses to testify in court.โ€

I nodded slightly, remaining calm. โ€œThatโ€™s to be expected. The witness is just an ordinary human. Even if they have a sense of justice, who would dare risk their life for it?โ€

Thomas hesitated for a moment before suggesting with a meaningful look, โ€œMaybeโ€ฆ we could use some special method?โ€
