Chapter 535: He Needs to Be Taught a Lesson
Daniel shrugged nonchalantly, showing no interest in joining forces with Irving. โI donโt care about your feud with your brother. But let me give you a heads-upโthere are Beta patrols nearby. If they catch your scent, thereโs no escape.โ
Without waiting for a reply, Daniel turned and walked away. He wasnโt naive. While it was clear Irving wanted to take down Benjamin, it was equally true that Irving had betrayed the werewolf pack by allying with witches. As a high-ranking werewolf of high status, Daniel couldnโt tarnish his familyโs honor by collaborating with a traitor willing to stoop to any level to achieve his goals.
Irving stood motionless, watching Daniel disappear into the distance. A flicker of determination crossed his face. He hadnโt expected Daniel to underestimate him like that. He wouldnโt let that slide. Daniel needed to learn a lesson.
Hayleyโs POV:
I left the restaurant with Benjamin. โAre you heading home or back to college?โ he asked.
After a moment of thought, I said, โIโll go to college. Iโve been on leave for so long, and thereโs a lot I need to handle.โ That had been my original plan for the day, but Kirstyโs unexpected situation had thrown everything off. I wasnโt fond of leaving tasks unresolved, and the Shadow Packโs daily matters also demanded my attention.
Once we got into the car, Benjamin instructed, โTake us to Hayleyโs college.โ โYes, Alpha,โ Tyrone replied, starting the car and driving us to college.
Benjaminโs POV:
We arrived at the college gates shortly after. Before stepping out, Hayley gave me a quick kiss goodbye, then walked toward the campus. I stayed in the car, my eyes following her until she disappeared from view. Only then did I turn to Tyrone.
โHowโs the private bodyguard you selected from the Beta enforcers?โ I asked. โEverything is set. Sheโll enroll at New College as Ms. Carsonโs classmate; Iโve arranged for them to share aโฆโ
His efficiency put me at ease, and I nodded in approval. Only by reaching that point could I feel somewhat reassured. I could never accept a situation where Hayley would be out of my reach for days or nights because I lost her.
Hayleyโs POV:
When I stepped into the dorm, the silence inside surprised me. Loretta was still fast asleep. I tiptoed toward my bed, careful not to wake her. As I got closer, my eyes fell on a stack of colorful notebooks neatly arranged on the desk.
Curious, I opened one and saw pages filled with detailed notes from various classes. The handwriting was bold and untamedโundoubtedly Lorettaโs. A wave of warmth filled me, and I couldnโt help but smile. Loretta, who usually skipped class whenever she could, had taken the time to write down everything for me. Perhaps that was the essence of true friendship.
Just as I was touched by her gesture, a familiar voice spoke up behind me. โHayley, youโre back? Iโm starving. Order something yummy for me, would you?โ
Loretta was still sprawled on her bed, her eyes closed, but she was already trying to charm me into helping her. โSure, what do you feel like eating?โ I agreed right away. โSince you went out of your way to take notes for me, I donโt mind spending a little extra. Or we could head out to eat if youโd preferโIโm good with either.โ
The moment I said that, Lorettaโs eyes snapped open, and she sat up, suddenly wide awake. โWait, are you serious? Are you treating me?โ
โOf course,โ I replied with a smile. โBut not right nowโjust ate lunch. How about we go for dinner instead?โ
โThat works perfectly!โ Loretta exclaimed, tossing her blanket aside and springing to her feet to get dressed. I figured she hadnโt heard me properly, so I reminded her, โWeโre going later, at night. Donโt you want to sleep a bit more?โ
Loretta quickly shook her head. โYou donโt get itโeating comes first!โ she said as she hurried down from the bed. Without missing a beat, she rushed to the bathroom to get ready.
Just then, I heard the distinct sound of high heels clicking steadily outside the door, growing louder as they got closer. A moment later, the door opened, and a tall woman with a long ponytail, wearing a leather jacket and pants, stepped into the room.
