Chapter 550: Irvingโs Hiding Place
Phones may look the same, but Hayleyโs phone was anything but ordinary. Unlike a regular screen, hers was pitch black, save for an endless stream of code scrolling rapidly across it. Only two blank spaces remained in the centerโslots to enter a username and password. What kind of software looks this futuristic?
The officer quickly dismissed his curiosity, thinking it was just some new game. He didnโt give it another thought.
Meanwhile, Mira had quietly stepped aside. Taking advantage of the brief moment when no one was watching, she sent a quick message to Benjamin: โAlpha City Police Station!โ No extra explanation was needed between smart people.
At that moment, Benjamin was en route to a location suspected to be Irvingโs hiding place. The second he saw Miraโs message, he immediately understood that they were in trouble. He quickly turned the car around and sped toward the city.
Catching Irving was important, but not as important as ensuring Hayleyโs safety.
Hayleyโs POV:
City Police Station. The once noisy police station fell into an unusual silence the moment we were brought inside. Mira didnโt waste her breath on a meaningless conversation. Instead, she showed the investigating officer a video from her phone.
The officer watched, his expression unreadable, then leaned back with an unimpressed sigh. โYeah, Iโve seen this. If youโre planning to use it as evidence for harassment, Iโm afraid youโre wasting your time.โ
โSo?โ I wasnโt surprised in the slightest. His dismissive tone only confirmed what I had already suspected.
The officerโs lips curled into a knowing smirk. โSo, if you insist on pursuing this, you might find yourself facing a defamation lawsuit instead. And if that happens, youโll have a permanent record. Thatโs not something to take lightly.โ
I got it now. He was one of Jonahโs men. His veiled threat barely fazed me. I leaned back in my chair calmly, wanting to continue the game even more. โWhat if thereโs another video that proves I was harassed?โ I asked.
His smirk deepened, laced with contempt. โBut I donโt see it. No one else sees it either.โ I was just an easy-to-bully Omega for him.
Then, as if playing the role of a just and reasonable officer, he offered a solution. โBut since the guy did say something inappropriate, he should at least apologize properly, donโt you think? How about this, let the manager say sorry, and weโll call it even?โ His tone suggested that I should feel grateful for the offer.
The officer shot a glance at the manager, a silent cue. Realizing he was off the hook, the manager grinned smugly. With an exaggerated sigh, he turned to me and muttered, โIโm sorry, Miss.โ His half-hearted attitude made it clear that he wasnโt offering an apology; he was mocking me.
Hearing this pathetic excuse, the officer clapped his hands together. โAlright, thatโs settled. Youโre all free to go.โ
โWait!โ I dropped my casual demeanor and said solemnly, โI donโt recall saying this was over.โ
Bullies remain bullies unless they face real consequences. Did they think they could brush us off so easily? If it werenโt for the fact that revealing my true identity right now would be inconvenient, I wouldโve let Hera teach them a lesson theyโd never forget.
The officer had already turned to leave, but he froze mid-step at my words. โAnd what exactly do you want?โ His brows furrowed as he glared at me.
Before I could get a word out, Hera surged with excitement inside me. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Benjamin stride toward me.
โWell, you can discuss this with my fiancรฉeโs lawyer,โ Benjamin said smoothly. He exuded a powerful Alpha aura, and his sharp gaze fixed on the police officer. After saying that, he lowered himself slightly, his piercing gaze softening as he gently took my hand in his. โAre you okay?โ he asked, worry etched on his face.
I shook my head and said suspiciously, โWhy are you here?โ
Benjamin smiled bitterly, โIf I donโt, my fiancรฉe will be bullied like this.โ
The officer, who had been visibly rattled by Benjaminโs presence, snapped out of his daze when his phone rang. He fumbled for his phone and glanced at the screen. That was a call from his superior. A nervous cough escaped his lips as he stepped aside to take the call. Lowering his voice, he asked respectfully, โSir, is there something you need?โ
โLet me ask you: Is there a woman named Hayley Carson there? Whatever you do, donโt offend her!โ
The officerโs spine went rigid, and he hurriedly asked, โSir, who exactly is she?โ
