Chapter 605: Youโre Not Even a Part of the Sanders
Hayleyโs POV:
โYou?โ The officer scanned me with a look of disbelief. โWhatโs your name?โ
โHayley Carson.โ
The moment he heard it, he rolled his eyes in irritation.
โEnough with the drama,โ he snapped, clearly impatient. โI donโt have time for this nonsense. Youโre not even a part of the Sanders, so what right do you have to speak here?โ
With that, he turned away and motioned for Freya to take Virginia with her.
As they started to leave, I raised my voice, stopping them in their tracks. โIโm Virginiaโs daughter, Michelle Sander! Iโm alive!โ
The group froze, and all eyes turned to me, their faces a mix of disbelief and surprise. They waited for some kind of explanation.
I took a steady step forward, pushing Freyaโs hands off Virginia and gently guiding her back with me. Virginia was still in a daze, her mind struggling to process my words, but she walked beside me, following my lead, confused and disoriented.
But Freya snapped out of her shock quickly. She lunged forward, grabbing Virginiaโs other hand. Her eyes were full of venom as she sneered, โYou think you can just say that and itโs true? Everyone in this city knows that Michelle, the other Sander daughter, is dead!โ
โHayley, if youโre trying to pull some scam, at least pick someone you can handleโa weak werewolf. Donโt mess with me!โ she added, her voice dripping with scorn.
โLet go!โ I ordered sharply.
โNo way!โ Freya shot back stubbornly, her grip tightening. โNo matter what, Iโm taking my mother with me today!โ
โOh?โ I tilted my head slightly, raising an eyebrow. I studied her calmly and then responded, โSounds to me like youโre hoping I wonโt reveal how you bribed the testing center staff, falsified the results, and have been holding both Mrs. Laurel and Mrs. Virginia captive.โ
โYโyouโre lying!โ Freyaโs eyes betrayed a brief flicker of panic.
She quickly regained her composure, brushing off my accusations with a smooth defense. โMy grandmother is elderly, and she recently lost her wolf. She needs constant care. As for my mother, thereโs a medical report confirming her mental condition. She canโt be left alone.โ
โIf you want to call this โimprisonment,โ then Iโm sure the officer will be able to make the right call,โ she added, her tone now sharp and warning.
โReally?โ I smirked, my voice cool and cutting. โThen tell me thisโif youโre so concerned, why were both Mrs. Laurel and Mrs. Virginia kidnapped before? Was that just a mistake, or was it part of a bigger plan?โ
โOfficer, donโt you find this suspicious?โ I asked, narrowing my eyes.
โHayley!โ Freyaโs voice rose, now filled with anger. โStop spreading these lies and slandering me!
โThe bottom line is this: Iโm my motherโs daughter, the rightful heir to the Sanders family, and her legal guardian. I have every right to take her with me!โ she declared loudly, her words echoing with defiance.
Then, feigning helplessness, she turned to the officers. โOfficers, youโve seen the paperwork. Please, help me take my mother back.โ
โMs. Sanders, donโt worry. As long as Iโm here, no one will separate you from your mother!โ the officer reassured her, placing a hand firmly on mine where I was still holding Virginiaโs hand.
His voice grew stern as he directed his attention to me. โMs. Carson, please release her. Do not interfere with my duties!โ
I didnโt budge. Instead, I tightened my grip, holding onto Virginia even more firmly.
The officer, sensing my defiance, grew furious. He pulled out his gun and aimed it directly at me.
Inside me, Heraโs fury erupted like a storm. Her voice thundered in my mind, โHayley, let me take over!โ
