Alpha Hayleyโ€™s Destined Mate

Chapter 664: Eyeing the Alpha

Darcyโ€™s POV:

Facing Virginia, I put on my most innocent expression. Testing the waters, I asked, โ€œVirginia, do you think I should share a room with Michelle? That way, we can bond more easily, right?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Virginia shut me down instantly. โ€œMichelle doesnโ€™t like sharing a room with anyone.โ€

I wasnโ€™t expecting such a firm rejection. It annoyed me. Still, I kept my composure, smiled, and looked at her again.

โ€œOh, I see,โ€ I nodded, as if I agreed. โ€œYou have a point, Virginia. In that case, Iโ€™ll just stay with you instead!โ€

โ€œNo way!โ€ Virginia frowned, her tone irritated. โ€œI donโ€™t like sharing a room either! Just go pick an empty one for yourself!โ€

I knew Virginia would never agree to my suggestion. And that was exactly what I had been waiting for.

Grinning, I went off to choose my room. At first, I thought Benjamin was staying in this house. However, after wandering around, I realized his room was in the courtyard next door. If that was the case, then staying with Hayley and the others wouldnโ€™t get me any closer to Benjamin, would it?

I stopped in my tracks, torn.

Hayleyโ€™s POV:

I was just about to leave to do needle therapy for Dorothy when an all-too-familiar, unpleasant scent filled the air. Her nose wrinkled in disgust. Looking up, I saw none other than the fake Darcy sneaking around, peering into every corner like a thief.

โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ I asked icily.

She flinched, then quickly turned to face me, her eyes darting away in guilt. After a brief silence, she spoke. โ€œVirginia told me to pick a room, but there arenโ€™t any left here.โ€

I thought about it. She wasnโ€™t wrong. After Claudio arrived, all six main rooms were occupied. There really wasnโ€™t any space left.

โ€œThen go stay with Marie and the others,โ€ I said casually.

โ€œMarie? Whoโ€™s that?โ€ she asked.

โ€œWhat? No way!โ€ Darcy immediately raised her voice in protest, her expression appalled.

Realizing how bad that sounded, she quickly tried to explain. โ€œI donโ€™t mind, really! But if people found out that the daughter of the Sanders was staying with the servants, wouldnโ€™t that be humiliating for our family?โ€

โ€œMichelle, you canโ€™t be serious.โ€ I crossed my arms, staring her down. โ€œSo that wonโ€™t work, and this wonโ€™t work either. Then tell meโ€”where exactly do you want to stay?โ€

She pretended to think it over, pausing for a moment before speaking. โ€œWhen I arrived, I noticed the courtyard next door was guarded, too. That means itโ€™s one of our familyโ€™s properties, right? I could just stay there.โ€

I instinctively glanced toward Benjaminโ€™s residence. Oh, so thatโ€™s her game. Before, I couldnโ€™t understand why Jeremy had suddenly decided to send his daughter here. Now I get it. Sheโ€™s here for Benjamin.

Wow. On her first day here, and sheโ€™s already eyeing my fiancรฉ? Darcy sure is bold. But seriously, do she and Jeremy think they stand a chance? Darcy is nothing but a two-faced, low-tier Beta with average looks and a scheming little brain. Even my regular Beta soldiers wonโ€™t consider her a mate.

Fine. I wonโ€™t stop them if theyโ€™re so eager to embarrass themselves. Might as well sit back and enjoy the show.

โ€œSure.โ€ I hid my amusement and agreed without hesitation. Then, turning on my heel, I walked toward the courtyard exit.

โ€œIโ€™ll take you there.โ€
