Alpha Hayleyโs Destined Mate
Chapter 665: A Wolf in the Den
Hayleyโs POV:
Darcy clearly hadnโt expected me to agree so easily. She froze for a few seconds before snapping out of it and hurrying to catch up with me. Hera was still grumbling, Benjamin. My head ached, annoyed that I was giving this woman a chance to get close to me. Even after I explained my reasoning, she huffed and said I should just let her take over my body and get rid of Darcy once and for all.
I sighed helplessly. Her possessiveness over Benjamin was even stronger than mine. We arrived at the courtyard next door in quick strides. Just as we stepped inside, Benjamin happened to walk out of the main hall, standing tall by the doorway.
I walked straight up to him and got right to the point. โDarcy wants to stay here. Got a room for her?โ
Now face-to-face with Benjamin, Darcy looked so flustered that she nearly stumbled into him. After taking a deep breath to steady herself, she stood there trembling slightly, her eyes filled with anticipation as she gazed up at him. Benjamin narrowed his eyes to glance at Darcy, then turned his attention to me. His brows furrowed in obvious displeasure as he shot me a questioning look.
I arched a brow at him, smiling. His expression only darkened further. A rare flicker of anger flashed across his face, and he muttered irritably, โIf you think there is, then there is. Do whatever you want. You donโt need my permission.โ
Even though he was annoyed, he still went along with it. I immediately followed up, โGreat. Then sheโll stay here. She can help out like the staff โ cooking, cleaning, whatever. Thereโs no need to be polite.โ With that, I clapped Darcy on the shoulder like a senior offering advice, then slipped into Dominicโs room.
Benjaminโs POV:
I couldnโt believe Hayley actually shoved this woman into my house. What the hell is she trying to do? Watching her casually arrange things before hurrying off, I felt an uncomfortable tightness in my chest. Lawrence was restless inside me, too. And as if I wasnโt annoyed enough, Darcy was still standing in my way. She even dared to toss her hair and ask in a coy voice, โMr. Southwell, which room will I be staying in?โ
A low-tier wolf like her, talking to me so casually? Does she actually think sheโs on the same level as Hayley?
โOut on the street!โ I snapped.
โWhat?โ Darcy flinched, visibly shaken.
Just then, through a gap in the door, I saw Hayley inside Dominicโs room, looking at him with obvious concern. My irritation only deepened. So, just to be spiteful, I said, โThe first room on the right, right next to mine.โ
โReally?โ Darcyโs voice lit up with excitement. I could see right through her. She made my skin crawl, and Lawrence despised her, too. But since Hayley was so insistent on throwing her in my face, I might as well play along. I felt exhausted just thinking about it. โYeah, really. If you need anything, ask Tyrone to prepare it.โ
โGot it!โ Darcy beamed. โIโm not picky โ just some basic necessities will do.โ I barely responded with a grunt before turning and walking into my room.
Darcyโs POV:
I wasnโt expecting things to go this smoothly. Benjamin must be attracted to my beauty. Otherwise, why else would he let me stay in the room next to his? It wonโt be long before I replace Hayley and officially become his Luna. I was beyond thrilled. I had assumed that their bond would be unshakeable since Hayley and Benjamin were engaged. But from the looks of it, their relationship seemed to be just for show. Iโve only been here a day, and Benjamin is already so cold toward her. Give it some time; sheโll be completely out of the picture. Just thinking about marrying the most powerful Alpha in North Annestone โ every womanโs dream man โ made me so excited that I almost wanted to shift and run wild. After calming myself down, I immediately went to find Benjaminโs Beta, Tyrone, to handle my move-in arrangements.
Benjaminโs POV:
After deliberately assigning Darcy the room next to mine, I kept an eye on Hayley, waiting for any kind of reaction. But she didnโt even glance at it when she left Dominicโs room and walked past Darcyโs door. She looked completely indifferent.
I swallowed the disappointment rising in my chest. As soon as her footsteps faded, I strode toward the door.
โMr. Southwell!โ Darcy called out with a hint of grievance. โI wasnโt done talkingโฆโ
I ignored her completely and walked straight to Dominicโs room. Once inside, I shut the door behind me without hesitation.
