Chapter 101
Back in the interrogation room, Dustin and Dahlia sat with their backs against each other for warmth. Such peaceful moments were rare, from their wedding day until their divorce. Silence hung heavy between them.
"Dustin, do you think we'll walk out of here alive?" Dahlia finally broke the silence. The damp, dark surroundings fostered depressive thoughts, and Mr. Gardner's intimidating presence only fueled her fear. Her heart pounded.
"Don't scare yourself. We'll definitely leave this place in one piece," Dustin comforted her.
"What if we don't? Do you have any last wishes?" Dahlia murmured glumly.
"There's no possibility of us dying. Let's talk after we get out," Dustin replied.
"Not after we've offended Lord Asmon. With his connections and resources, getting rid of us would be as easy as killing a gnat," Dahlia sighed. Even her considerable resources paled in comparison to the nobility's wealth.
"Dahlia, this isn't like you. I thought you were someone who wouldn't give up until the last second. You'd take on any challenge. Why are you being so pessimistic?" Dustin raised his voice.
Dahlia chuckled. "You're right. No one knows what will happen until the last minute. Perhaps we should hope things will turn around!"
As she finished her sentence, the metal door creaked open. Light streamed into the room as Mr. Gardner stomped in with several burly, intimidating men.
"Kid! Your time's up; have you made your decision?" He glared fiercely at Dustin.
"Yes, I've decided. I will not return the items," Dustin replied firmly.
"What?" Mr. Gardner frowned. "Kid, don't you know who these men are? I'll be honest, they're the worst criminals and bandits I have in prison! They've been deprived of a woman's touch for a long time! If you refuse to cooperate, you will definitely regret it. These men will have their way with your girlfriend while you watch."
"If you dare to touch her, I'll tear this whole place down!" Dustin growled.
"You piece of shit! How dare you talk back to me! Now, you have no choice but to bear the consequences!" Mr. Gardner gestured to his men. "Guys, make sure to put on a good performance for this kid so he knows his place! Show him a fate worse than death!"
"Of course, sir! We are much obliged!" The men cackled. Having been locked up for a long time without female companionship, they couldn't hide their eagerness to assault Dahlia.
"Hi, gorgeous! Let's have some fun!"
"I'll get the girl, you can get the guy!"
The men began stripping, laughing maniacally as they advanced menacingly toward Dahlia.
"You must be looking for death!" Dustin stood, furious.
He tore the shackles from his hands and legs with brute force, the metal clanging to the floor. He then easily untied Dahlia.
"You!" Mr. Gardner was taken aback. The interrogation room's shackles were specially made—virtually unbreakable. How had this scrawny kid done it?
"Gardner, you've pushed my limits!" Dustin kicked the shackles aside and rushed toward him.
"Quick, stop this kid!" Mr. Gardner screamed for help. The burly men immediately surrounded Dustin, attacking him simultaneously.
"Get out of my way!" Dustin unleashed a surge of energy, stomping his heel on the ground. The sheer force threw the men backward, crashing them into the walls. They were all instantly dead, bleeding from internal injuries.
"Help, anybody! Please help!" Mr. Gardner, pale with terror, whirled around and fled.
