Chapter 151

Back at the Peaceful Medical Center, Dustin downed glass after glass of wine, trying to numb himself with alcohol. Although expressionless, he felt inwardly frustrated. Maybe he should finally let go of his past relationship and move on.

“Doctor! Doctor!”

Just as Dustin felt a little tipsy, a hurried knock came at the door. Opening it, he found two young women standing outside. One, dressed entirely in white, looked like an angel. Her aura was pure and innocent. The other, in a black bodysuit that showed off her curves, had prominent features that gave her a tough, masculine appearance. However, she was bleeding profusely from an abdominal injury, her face pale from blood loss.

“Excuse me, is the doctor in? My friend is severely injured and needs immediate treatment!” the woman in white said anxiously.

“I am the doctor. Come in,” Dustin replied, ushering them inside.

“Thank you so much! Claudia, let’s go inside,” the woman said gratefully, turning to her friend.

“Wait a minute! Sheila, I smell alcohol on him. He must be a drunkard; I don’t trust him!” Claudia Doyle frowned.

“But you’ve lost so much blood. If you don’t receive treatment immediately, you might die!” Sheila Murray said worriedly.

“It’s fine, I can hang on until support arrives. I’m not entrusting my life to a drunkard!” Claudia gritted her teeth. Her injury wasn’t superficial; even skilled doctors would struggle to treat it, let alone one who appeared drunk.

“Sorry to interrupt, but will your support arrive within thirty minutes?” Dustin asked indifferently.

“It’s none of your business!” Claudia retorted.

“Alright then. Based on experience, with that blood loss, you’ll be dead in thirty minutes,” Dustin said, glancing at Claudia.

“Nonsense! Do you think I’ll be intimidated by your threats? I’m well-acquainted with frauds like you!” Claudia hissed.

“Believe it or not. But if you’re going to die, don’t do it on my doorstep. I don’t want to clean up your mess,” Dustin said, waving them away.

“You–!” Claudia’s body jerked as she spat out blood.

“Suit yourself,” Dustin started to close the door.

“Wait! Please wait! Sir, I apologize for Claudia’s disrespect. Please don’t hold it against her. Please save Claudia! We will repay your kindness!” Sheila stopped him.

“Sheila, why are you begging him? Even if I die, I won’t let him treat me!” Claudia said stubbornly.

“Lady, it’s not that I’m unwilling to save her. She refused treatment. If she survives, you need to get her brain checked. Maybe that’s why she’s so…retarded,” Dustin shook his head.

“You bastard!” Claudia clenched her jaw, trying to stand when she suddenly lost consciousness and fell. She might have fainted from Dustin’s provocation rather than her injuries.

“Claudia!” Sheila anxiously tried to lift her, but lacked the strength. Turning to Dustin, she pleaded, “Please help Claudia! I have the money to repay you. I’ll give you anything to save her!” Tears streamed down her cheeks.

Dustin, weak to a woman’s tears, sighed and nodded. “Alright, because of your sincerity, I’ll save her this time.”

He grabbed Claudia’s collar, lifted her like a sack of potatoes, and tossed her onto the bed. Sheila suspected Dustin was retaliating for Claudia’s insolence.

“Miss, take off her clothes. I will stop the bleeding,” Dustin instructed.

Sheila nodded eagerly. “Okay!”

Within minutes, she had undressed Claudia completely. Dustin recoiled in shock.

“Miss, I didn’t mean for you to strip her naked. At least leave her underwear and bra on!”

“Huh?” Sheila blushed crimson and quickly redressed Claudia. She’d misunderstood Dustin’s instructions. Thankfully, Claudia was unconscious; it would have been extremely awkward otherwise.

Dustin breathed a sigh of relief. Although he’d briefly seen Claudia’s figure, it was obvious she had a curvaceous body. The superficial wound wasn’t too serious. Dustin sewed it up to prevent further blood loss. Internal injuries would require medication.

“Alright, she’s out of danger. I’ll give her a prescription, and she’ll be fine after a few days,” Dustin said, writing a prescription.

“Thank you so much!” Sheila replied gratefully.

As Dustin handed Sheila the prescription, he accidentally touched her hand. He raised his eyebrows. “Miss, your condition seems worse than your friend’s!”

“I’m fine, it’s just a chronic illness,” Sheila smiled wryly. She’d suffered from the cold since childhood and took multiple medications daily.

“You–” Dustin was about to question further when Sheila was distracted by Claudia regaining consciousness.

“Claudia, are you awake? How are you feeling?” Sheila asked, delighted.

“Sheila? Where am I?” Claudia looked around suspiciously.

“This man saved you, he’s a skilled doctor. With a few stitches, your wounds stopped bleeding!” Sheila gushed.

“No one asked for his help!” Claudia muttered, looking at her bandages.

“Claudia! He saved you out of kindness, how could you be so rude?” Sheila said, annoyed.

“Sheila, you’re too naive. You never know what’s in a man’s heart. Maybe he saved me with ulterior motives!” Claudia said cynically.

“You’re mistaken. I believe he’s a good person!” Sheila insisted.

“Miss, your words are music to my ears. Unlike some, who have no sense of gratitude,” Dustin said sarcastically.

Claudia opened her mouth to retort, but was interrupted by a commotion outside. Loud stomping and gruff voices were heard.

“Boss, their tracks end here. They must be inside!”

“I’ll teach them to run from me! Boys! Surround the medical center. Make sure not even a bug escapes!”

The center’s doors were violently burst open.
