Chapter 212

Roderick stood frozen, his face pale. He’d experienced all kinds of hardships throughout his life, but at that moment, he was at a loss. He thought being cheated on was bad enough, but this was a far greater “surprise.” His son wasn’t biologically his? This revelation was even more devastating than discovering his wife's infidelity.

“Mr. Rhys, are… are you sure?” Roderick’s eye twitched. He clung to the last glimmer of hope.

“Mr. Brooks, it’s a hard pill to swallow, but based on your current condition, you lost your ability to father children a long time ago. If you don’t believe me, you can get tested yourself,” Dustin said firmly. To be honest, he felt sorry for Roderick. Despite his wealth, his wife had had an affair, and his son wasn't his. This double blow would have driven an ordinary person insane.

“Alright. Thank you, Mr. Rhys. There are too many people here. Shall we find another place to talk?” Roderick asked, his face impassive.

“Of course.” Dustin caught Natasha’s eye and readily agreed.

“Alright, Dan, take Ms. Harmon and Mr. Rhys to the Brooks Manor. I’ll be there shortly,” Roderick instructed his driver.

Dan hummed in agreement and led Dustin and Natasha to the Rolls-Royce waiting outside.

After they left, Roderick’s expression finally darkened. Whether his son was his or not, a paternity test would reveal the truth. He could forgive his wife’s affair, but he couldn't handle raising another man’s child.

Dustin and Natasha strolled through the Brooks Manor gardens, admiring the beautiful scenery. Several housekeepers followed, carrying trays of pastries and tea, ready to serve at any moment. After their stroll, they found a shady spot to rest.

“Ms. Harmon, do you think Mr. Brooks can handle this shocking truth?” Dustin asked abruptly. If Chloe hadn't acted so despicably, he wouldn't have interfered.

“Mr. Brooks has overcome many trials and tribulations. He should be fine. Of course, that's assuming you can cure his secret illness,” Natasha replied with a faint smile. For a man, the ability to have children was very important.

“As long as Mr. Brooks believes me,” Dustin responded.

As he spoke, a large shadow fell over them. It was Roderick!

“Hello, you two. Sorry for keeping you waiting.” Roderick wiped the sweat from his forehead, forcing a smile.

“Mr. Brooks, is the matter settled?” Dustin asked cautiously.

“Yes, it’s settled.” Roderick nodded.

Thanks to the power of money, the paternity test results were available in under an hour. As Dustin said, his son was not his. Upon learning this, he was furious; he even felt a homicidal urge. However, after so many years, he had grown attached to them. In the end, he spared the mother and son. But from that day forward, they were never to appear before him again.

“Ah, fate truly dealt me a rotten hand! All my life, I’ve done only good deeds, so who would have thought that not only would I lose my ability to have children, but I would also end up parting ways with my wife and child.” Roderick sighed heavily.
