Chapter 283
"B-Buddy?!" General Jenkins stared, stunned, at Adam's friendly expression. His mind went blank. The man before him was the renowned God of War, the youngest chief general of Dragonmarsh. Thousands reported to him; he reported to no one. Yet, this all-powerful figure had called Dustin "buddy"? What was happening?
"Impossible! How could that bastard know Chief General Spanner?!" Jade exclaimed, her eyes wide with disbelief. Her investigation had shown Dustin to be insignificant. How could he be connected to the God of War?
"Now that you mention it, it has been a while," Dustin said, appraising Adam. "You're doing quite well for yourself, you rascal. I might need to start relying on you for money soon."
"Don't joke like that!" Adam replied, his expression strange. "My humble abode couldn't accommodate someone as great as you."
"Since we meet again, let me treat you to tea," Dustin said with a small smile.
"Someone, release him!" Adam gestured.
"No need. I'll do it myself." Dustin stretched, the sound of metal clinking echoing as the thick chains binding him shattered.
Everyone's jaws dropped. Those chains, forged from darksteel and supposedly unbreakable, were broken simply by him stretching? It was baffling.
"Oh, right. How shall we handle those two?" Dustin asked, turning to General Jenkins and Jade.
"We'll follow procedure. Kidnapping and torture warrant decades in prison, wouldn't you say?" Adam said indifferently.
The two heard this and their faces paled. A few decades was a lifetime. Would they die in prison?
"No! You can't imprison us!" Jade protested furiously. "Dustin is the guilty one! What right do you have?"
"What right?" Adam smiled faintly. "More power than you. Is that sufficient?"
"You're abusing your power!" Jade defied him.
"Correct," Adam said bluntly, mirroring General Jenkins's earlier description.
"Try me! I'm a member of the Grant family!" Jade insisted.
Adam laughed, tossing her a phone. "I'll give you a chance to ask the Grant family for help. Let's see who dares rescue you!"
Jade was thunderstruck. She knew the Grant family wouldn't cross Adam for her.
"Why? Who are you?" she demanded, staring at Dustin, her eyes filled with surprise, defiance, hatred, and despair.
"Since you're dying anyway, I'll enlighten you," Adam said nonchalantly. "The young man you kidnapped is Logan Rhys, eldest son of the Rhys family and a close friend of mine!"
"Logan Rhys?!" General Jenkins collapsed in despair. He finally understood Bloodbeast's flight, the pleas for Dustin's release, General Murry's army, and Adam's nervousness.
