Pei Song hadn't anticipated such a smooth resolution; Su Can seemed adept at knowing when to advance or retreat. "Mr. Su, Mr. Yun, let's go. Young Master Su will transfer the money to your accounts," Pei Song announced.
Yunlong glanced at Su Chen. While pleased with the outcome, he knew everything still hinged on his brother. Instead of leaving, Su Chen settled onto a nearby sofa and lit a cigarette. Smoke curled upward, obscuring a face subtly twisted into an amused smirk. The others, startled, were unsure of his intentions.
"This must be Mr. Su, right? Is there anything else?" Su Can asked, his brow furrowed slightly.
"Indeed," Su Chen replied with a faint smile. "Young Master Su is quite the businessman. Turning away sixty billion for six billionโno wonder the Su family prospers."
Pei Song and Yunlong stiffened, instantly recognizing the sarcasm. Su Chen was mocking not only Su Can, but the entire Su family. Pei Song mused, Where does this man get his audacity? He only speaks to shock!
Su Can's handsome face darkened. "What exactly do you mean, Mr. Su?" he demanded coldly. Had Pei Song not been present, he would have had Su Chen killed. Despite retreating, Su Chen remained relentless.
"Nothing," Su Chen said languidly, exhaling a plume of smoke. "Sixty billion. Take the money and leave."
"You jest," Su Can sneered. "Sixty billion? Think I'd hand that over?"
"Only Young Master Pei's presence secured you six billion; otherwise, not a penny!"
"So, Young Master Su, you intend to default?" Su Chen smiled, rising to retrieve a bottle of 1787 Lafite and two glasses from a nearby cabinet. Without aerating it, he uncorked the bottle, poured two glasses, and said, "I assume you're accustomed to such wines. I won't bother pouring for you." He handed a glass to Yunlong. "Heard this costs several hundred thousand. See if it's any different from a hundred-dollar bottle."
Yunlong, hesitant, accepted the glass. He'd tasted expensive wines before, but his confusion stemmed from his brother's actions. He felt his brother was the true master of the situation, relegating everyone else to supporting roles.
Su Can and Pei Song felt utterly bewildered, as if facing a lunatic. Both were at a loss for words.
Su Chen smacked his lips after taking a swig from the bottle. "Tastes like Great Wall dry red. Nothing special." The others winced. Boss, this is vintage wine, not something to chug! But their concern was secondary; they were baffled by his actions.
"Young Master Su, you haven't answered my question. Will you default?" Su Can pressed.
Su Chen slammed the partially full bottle onto the coffee table with a loud bang. "Those who know when to quit should leave, or they'll get nothing."
Su Can's fury flared. "Mr. Su, Young Master has been generous. Take what you can get." Pei Song intervened quietly.
Su Chen shook his head, stubbornly defiant. "Debts are repaid. Gambling debts are honored."
"That depends on who owes the money!" Pei Song retorted, exasperated. This man is beyond reason! He'll get himself into trouble!
"My money, no one dares refuse!" Su Chen stated indifferently, radiating an unshakeable confidence.
Pei Song was momentarily stunned. "Is that so? I'm not paying. What will you do?" Su Can sneered. "You think defeating Basha makes you invincible? You're naive!"
"You mean those two Martial Artists?" Su Chen glanced at two middle-aged men. He noted their Qi Refinement Level Six cultivation. Yandu's noble families are far more powerful than those in Jianghai. He considered them trivial.
"You know about Martial Artists?" Su Can scoffed. "Then leave!"
Pei Song was shocked. He knew the power of Martial Artists. Su Chen, unconcerned, tilted his head and smiled. "I'll ask one last time. Will you pay?"
"One last time, leave! Or face the consequences!" Su Can's eyes narrowed. Su Chen's stubbornness had exhausted his patience.
"Mr. Su, leave," Pei Song urged. Su Can was about to explode. With two Martial Artists present, Su Chen was courting disaster.
Su Chen ignored him, looking at Su Can with a dismissive smile. Su Can, unwilling to be outdone, returned the stare, arrogant.
"Idiot," Su Chen said, barely a whisper.
