Chapter 171

Sophia pointed a finger at Odalys's nose, her face contorted with fury. The others were dumbfounded by her unreasonable behavior. When they tried to pull her away, Odalys grabbed her finger and bent it sharply. A crack echoed, and Sophia's finger bent backward.

"Ouch!" Sophia cried out in pain, staring at Odalys in horror. "You broke my finger? Odalys, are you out of your mind?" she roared.

Sneering, Odalys gripped Sophia's finger tighter. "You're out of your mind. How dare you slander me? I know you well, even if others don't. Don't you dare throw dirt on me! Who do you think you are? Don't point your finger at me again unless you don't need it anymore," she said, exerting more force.

Another crack sounded, and Sophia's finger snapped back into place. The sharp pain brought tears to Sophia's cheeks. Odalys's push sent Sophia staggering backward, losing her balance and falling to the ground.

"Get out of my way! If you don't, I'll break your neck," Odalys warned coldly.

Terrified, Sophia instinctively moved aside, watching Odalys walk past before getting back to her feet. Her lips moved, but she swallowed her curses. She noticed a cameraman nearby, his camera aimed at her face.

"I'm so sorry for my slip of the tongue," she stammered, forcing a smile. Odalys misunderstood me. She had rushed from her bed without makeup, and her anger had distorted her face. Instantly, her public image was ruined.

[Is she a madwoman? I've never seen such a shameless person!] [How fiery Odalys is! I love her! I fell for her for breaking Sophia's finger and then fixing it!] [Don't tolerate slander, or you will suffer.] [Wait, I'll call my daughter over to watch this. It's a good example for her.] [I'm curious about the stuff on Sophia. What is that?] [Group B can help with your curiosity. Follow them!]

Odalys, having set a show while washing up, led her group members away, ignoring Sophia. They took the path they'd trodden the previous day, went past the woods, and arrived at the cliff.

"The air here is so fresh," Freya stretched, inhaling deeply. She casually picked a flower and pinned it in her hair. The pale yellow flower made her look vibrant. She then picked two more, placing one each in Odalys's and Selali's hair.

"By the way, what was that sticky liquid on Sophia?" Selah asked curiously.

Freya perked up her ears. "What was it? It was thick and smelly," she asked.

Stellan, rope in hand, approached his companions, eager for the answer.

"It looks like toad saliva," Odalys explained. "Given the mountains and water here, there must be toads around at night. Usually, toads don't attack humans."

"That slime did smell like toad saliva," Selah agreed. "When she pointed her finger at me, I saw blister-like things on it."

"What! Does that ugly thing have such a long tongue? If that slime was toad saliva, doesn't that mean a toad jumped on her and licked her clothes?" Selah's scalp tingled at the thought.

"As I said, everything has a soul," Odalys said quietly. "Yesterday, she stole eggs, attacked the python with snake repellent, and tried to burn it with wine. Animals will take revenge, especially snakes."

Stellan listened intently. "The toad took revenge last night because she angered the python. In other words, other animals might be visiting her. Does it mean she'll be attacked as long as she stays here?"

Odalys nodded. "You're right. There might be no retaliation if she hadn't used snake repellent or wine. Sophia is proud. She wanted revenge on the python because she thought it hurt her. She's unaware of her mistake."

"The worst thing is not being aware of your mistakes," she added.

Freya rubbed her wrist. Picking up a piece of gravel, she said, "I don't mean to turn on her, but we were once in the same crew, and she deliberately added something to my coffee—a used tissue! She even provoked me after her dirty trick was exposed. How outrageous!"

Selah added, "It's said she broke the leg of an extra in a film. The director didn't require violence, but she insisted. The victim got only four thousand dollars in compensation." A flash of sadness crossed Selah's eyes. "In this world, only the powerless suffer. The poor are bullied by colleagues from respectable families."

"Enough of Sophia," Odalys said. "I'll go down first. I'll signal if it's safe." She tied Stellan's rope around a rock, fastened the other end, and jumped down.

"Odalys, be careful!" Freya cried, her heart pounding. She'd never seen anyone so reckless.
