Chapter 173
Netizens were thrilled, their hearts pounding as Group It rappelled down the cliff one by one. From the cameraman's perspective, the hole at the bottom appeared deep and difficult to discern. Undeterred, Odalys descended without a second thought. She consistently surprised viewers, maintaining an air of mystery.
"The water beneath the waterfall is black, so I think the pit is bottomless," Odalys said, hands clasped behind her back. "The fish in pits like this are delicious. Want to try some?"
She squatted, peering into the pit. Intrigued, her companions followed her gaze. Some, however, succumbed to acrophobia.
"Can the cameraman come over?" Odalys asked.
The cameraman hurried over, aimed his camera at the spot Odalys indicated, and zoomed in.
Odalys explained, "Clear water means shallow, blue water means deep, and black water means abyss. The water here is clear, but we can't see the bottom. Therefore, it's 'black water,' and there's a pit. Another opening might be elsewhere. For your safety, stay away from water like this, especially water that doesn't echo when you throw a stone into it. Don't swim in it, even if it's boiling hot." As she spoke, she spotted a fish.
It was large, swimming near the surface, provocatively flicking its tail. Without hesitation, Odalys picked up a stone and hit the fish—quickly, accurately, and ruthlessly. Her action seemed casual, yet the fish was struck instantly. Blood spurted as the fish thrashed.
While the others gaped in surprise, Odalys rolled onto the nearby grass. She picked up a stick, hooked the dead fish, and flung it toward her companions.
"Stellan, catch it!" she shouted.
The entire sequence happened so quickly that her companions were astonished. The pit was 10 meters away, yet Odalys had successfully launched the fish. Stunned, Stellan reached out, but the fish landed squarely on his face. His hands flailed, and the weight of the fish caused him to stumble backward. He instinctively clutched the fish as Selah and Freya rushed to his aid.
"Damn, the stone made a hole in the fish! How strong is Odalys! She hit it from that distance!" Selah exclaimed, staring at the hole in the fish's belly and probing it with her finger. The hole was so large she couldn't see her fingertip on the other side.
Worried, Freya quickly looked down. She saw Odalys lying back, supported by a vine. Alert, Freya reached for Odalys, falling into her arms. Hearing Odalys's strong heartbeat, Freya felt unreal. She pinched herself, whispering, "Oh god, I must be dreaming."
"Then wake up," Odalys teased, rubbing Freya's face.
Chapter 173
Freya gazed at Odalys with admiration. "Odalys, you can fly, can't you? How did you kill that fish with one stone? From that distance! Teach me!" Freya's excitement made her voice stutter. Odalys's feat seemed like a dream.
"I'll teach you when you can lift a cow with one hand," Odalys said blandly.
Wide-eyed, Freya asked incredulously, "Pick up a… a cow… with one hand?"
Just then, she saw Stellan struggling to lift the fish with one hand, dropping it to the ground. He had to use both hands. He then noticed Freya's strange expression.
"What's wrong?" Stellan asked, confused.
Freya swallowed. "You can't even carry a fish with one hand, so how am I supposed to lift a cow?"
"Only when you're strong enough," Odalys explained. This explained her ability to kill the fish from a distance and fling it with one hand.
"Fine. I think learning to fly with a vine is easier," Freya conceded.
Amused, Odalys agreed, "Relatively."
Selah's mouth twitched. "They say sandbags help with agility," she said, shaking her head. "Attach dozens of pounds to your legs and walk for an hour every day. Two legs, at least 100 pounds."
Freya fell silent.
Odalys quickly put her arm around Freya's shoulders. "Relax, you can learn something else."
"Great," Freya nodded.
Odalys packed the sorted herbs into her bag. With Stellan's help, she carried the fish to the other end of the cave. Odalys climbed up using the rope, then Stellan tied the fish to the rope and let Odalys pull it up.
The cameraman was last to leave, feeling a sudden tug before landing on the cliff floor.
"Thank you," he said to Odalys, breaking into a cold sweat after his unexpected adventure.
Stellan hoisted the fish onto his shoulder, insisting on carrying it despite the mess.
"Hey, it's Stellan!" Finnian spotted Group It from afar.
Group A gaped in astonishment, watching Stellan's fish parade. They marveled at the fish's size.
"About 50 pounds," Stellan announced. Then, seeing Francis's reaction, he added, "It's okay. Not that heavy. Just…"
Francis fell silent. It was clear Stellan was showing off. 150 pounds?
