Chapter 316
Seeing Callum's surprised look, Orson retracted the ultrasound picture. He said, "Edie is pregnant! A 30-year-old widow is pregnant! It's probably Henry's child. I haven't told Percival yet. I'm still thinking about how to tell him. After all, Edie treated him badly and even tried to kill him. He'd only been married for half a month when his own mother got pregnant—through an affair with his wife's elder brother. How am I supposed to tell him that?" Orson rubbed his nose.
He almost blurted it out during his recent phone call with Percival, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Callum also fell silent, finding the situation absurd.
"It's really hard to talk about," Callum nodded slightly. "If it were me, I wouldn't know how to break it."
A slamming door interrupted them. Edie, with a red bump on her forehead and disheveled hair, crawled out of the ward. Her noble demeanor was gone. "Orson, help me!" she shouted, seeing him nearby.
Orson stood quietly, watching her. After a while, he walked forward, stopping a few steps away. He looked down at her, hands in his white coat pockets, and smiled casually. "Help you? How? The hospital ran every test, and found nothing wrong. You're not sick or in pain. Everyone says you're faking it to gain sympathy from the Stewart family."
"I don't know if that's true. Since the tests showed nothing, you're not sick. I'm a doctor, not a god. How can I help you if you're faking it?"
Callum stood silently, alert. If Edie made another move, he would stop her. He might not kill her, but he wouldn't let her succeed.
"It's a curse! Odalys put a curse on me! Call Percival! This woman targeted me! Now that she's cursed me, she'll definitely curse Callum next!" Edie murmured.
Orson's face darkened at the mention of Percival. "Percival is dead. Don't you know? How am I supposed to call him?" he said in a deep voice.
Edie, seemingly frantic, shook her head. "He can't be dead. The Stewarts are powerful. If they let Odalys marry him for good luck, they would have saved him. Percival can't be dead. It must be a faked death." She paused, then realized the Stewarts hadn't held a funeral, nor had anyone seen his body. They'd even cut off contact with her afterward. These actions seemed like something Percival would do.
"Quickly, tell him Odalys put a curse on me! She wants to harm the entire Stewart family! If he doesn't let Odalys save me, he will regret it!" Edie said through gritted teeth.
After speaking, her chest heaved, and she spat out a mouthful of blood, falling heavily to the ground, muttering, "Odalys, you bitch! I will kill you! I will kill you!"

Chapter 316
Orson and Callum watched her fall, but didn't help. Only after she fainted from the pain did Orson ring for nurses. He had them take her inside and lock the ward, forbidding entry.
"I just don't understand why Edie hates Odalys. I think Odalys is a very good person," Callum said, finding their hatred of Odalys insane.
Orson walked to the other side of the corridor. "Edie's the only abnormal one. Look at the Bennetts. Are any of them normal? The whole family dotes on Sophia, who isn't even related by blood, and forces their biological daughter into a corner. If Odalys wasn't so capable, they would have driven her to death, especially when they forced her to marry in Sophia's place. Fortunately, she married Percival. If she'd married another man, she might be dead by now."
The world was unfair. For their own interests, people would sacrifice anyone close to them.
"By the way, Percival asked you to find information about Sophia's adoption. How's it going?" Orson asked.
Callum's face darkened. "I haven't found anything. It's like it's been completely erased. If she was adopted through normal procedures, there should be a trace, but there's nothing. It's as if Sophia was conjured out of thin air, which is very abnormal," Callum said. Not only was Sophia abnormal, but he felt something was wrong with recent events.
"That's right," Orson said flatly. He took off his white coat and opened the lounge door. Callum followed, taking a glass of wine Orson offered. He took a sip.
"My grandfather's been pushing me to meet Odalys. He's very interested in her medical skills, saying they're passed down from ancient times," Orson whispered.
Callum laughed. "Before you meet Odalys, you have to deal with Finnian first," he chuckled.
Orson's face darkened at the mention of Finnian. That night, Finnian and Sophia had tried to seduce him, but the matter was exposed, and Finnian arrested. His father, however, used his connections to get him out, fearing it would impact the Lark family. Orson felt a headache coming on.
Orson was puzzled. "The Lark family treated Finnian well, even investing in his entertainment career. Besides the family inheritance, he had everything. Why would he get involved with the Bennett family?" The Lark family had already given him so much. As an illegitimate son, he was accepted into the family. Perhaps, a phone call earlier, might have stopped his parents from attacking him.
"What more does he want? If Finnian could kick you out, he'd be the sole Lark heir! An actor is definitely less tempting than a Lark heir," Callum said quietly.
Orson was silent.
