Chapter 315

The blood poison in the village soil could invisibly kill people and silently cause cancer. Therefore, Percival asked Callum to investigate the number of cancer cases, their family histories, any connections to the Bennett family, and any secret ties to Edie.

Odalys said coldly, “That's not enough. Edie's curse worm is of unknown origin. It doesn't seem ordinary; it looks like it was raised with human blood.”

“Your uncle has been missing for a long time, without a trace. It turns out he went abroad. Now that something has happened to Edie, we'll see if he returns.”

Percival gripped the steering wheel, his dark eyes fixed on the dark night.

“Whether he returns or not isn't up to him. Even if he doesn't want to, I have ways to force him.” Percival, powerful and influential, certainly had his methods.

“Okay. Let's wait until he returns.” Odalys leaned back, closing her eyes. Using her magic tonight had depleted her energy, leaving her fatigued. Leaning back in the car, she immediately succumbed to tiredness.

Percival watched her weary face, his lips pursed. He drove the SUV slowly. Upon returning to the Stewart Villa, she was still asleep. Percival sat in the car for a long time before getting out, walking to the passenger side, opening the door, and attempting to carry her. Unexpectedly, she grasped his wrist.

Percival groaned. He realized her grip was strong, powerful, threatening to crush his wrist.

The moment Percival groaned, Odalys sharply opened her eyes, meeting his deep black gaze. Her heart skipped a beat as their eyes met.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know it was you,” Odalys quickly released his wrist. Seeing the mark of her pinch on his wrist, she scratched her head.

Percival noted her wary expression, his black eyes flashing with concern. She was clearly hurt to be so wary even while asleep.

“Let’s go home,” Percival said huskily.

Hearing this, Odalys grabbed her bag and jumped out of the car. They walked side-by-side toward the Stewart Villa. Entering the living room, they saw Evander sitting on the sofa, eyes closed.

Hearing their footsteps, Evander opened his eyes. Seeing them, he attempted to stand, clearly disoriented.

“Grandpa, be careful,” Percival quickly stepped forward to support him.

Odalys also hurried over, noticing the indentation on the sofa, indicating he’d been sitting there a while.

“It’s too late. Why didn’t you go to your room to sleep?” Odalys asked.

Evander, supported by Percival, regained his balance. He glanced at them and chuckled softly. “I couldn’t sleep because I was waiting for your return, but I didn’t expect to fall asleep.”

Neither believed his story, but they didn’t argue.

“Go to your room to rest,” Percival said softly.

They helped Evander upstairs. He seemed happy to have their company.

11:35 PM Chapter 315

Evander said domineeringly, “Edie fainted and was rushed to the hospital. After regaining consciousness, Orson called, saying she was causing a disturbance, demanding to see Odalys. I refused.”

“That vicious woman dared to hurt Odalys. We can’t let her get away with it. Even if she’s your mother, if you dare to secretly help her, I won’t acknowledge you as my grandson.” He was clearly pleased with Odalys as his granddaughter-in-law.

“Don’t worry, Grandpa. I’ve never been on her side. Besides, you and Odalys are my real family. Edie stopped being my family the moment she tried to hurt you,” Percival said sincerely. He didn’t keep his thoughts to himself; he believed honesty was essential for a real family.

“That’s good to know.” Evander nodded, satisfied.

After escorting Evander to his room, Odalys went to hers. After showering and lying down, she saw a message: “[Dad might be coming back.]” It was from an unfamiliar number, but she recognized it as Caspian. He’d sent a similar message before. She felt he was smarter than other Bennetts, trying to save himself as the Bennet Group crumbled.

Odalys ignored it. She wanted nothing to do with the Bennetts, past or present. She deleted the message, charged her phone, and fell asleep.

That night, in a hospital VIP ward, Edie thrashed about, her face contorted, her screams echoing in the corridor.

“It hurts so much! Odalys, you bitch! How dare you hurt me!” Edie roared.

She fell off the bed, hitting her head. Even self-harm didn’t ease the pain. She tried to crawl to a doctor but didn’t get far. Orson stood nearby, arms crossed, coldly watching. It seemed she had gone mad for using magic against Odalys. Callum was shocked. If Orson hadn’t told him, he wouldn’t have believed it.

Over the years, Edie had become increasingly erratic, doing as she pleased and spiraling out of control. She thought Percival would always overlook her actions. He had merely been watching, waiting for her to slip up. He had seen through her from the moment she betrayed the Stewart family and helped her own family. His affection for her had vanished.

“Even Henry is more sensible than anything or would do?” Orson scoffed. He never expected Edie to remain a widow, let alone be with her old friend’s son. There was a large age gap.

“Take a look at this,” Orson said, handing Callum something.

Callum, confused, adjusted his glasses, looked at the ultrasound picture, his lips moving slightly. He turned to Orson, shocked and astonished.

“What’s going on?” Callum thought he’d misread it.
