Chapter 389

“How can I win over the Bennett family? I heard he even wanted to get me a psychiatric evaluation!” Edie sneered. After being detained by the police for three hours, she was released with a verbal warning because she hadn't harmed anyone and because of her lack of a significant relationship with the Stewart family. The police believed she and Odalys were probably just messing around. Edie hadn't expected Evander to be at Odalys's company.

“What should we do now? Break his legs? Or use him to threaten the Bennett family?” the man interrupted impatiently. He was rough, raising his foot and kicking Henry.

“Take him back first. I will deal with it myself,” Edie said coldly. She glanced at Henry with disdain, her eyes devoid of any affection, as if he were a stranger.

At dusk, Odalys drove to the Film Capital. She had just gotten out of the car when she saw Freya, dressed in a dress, running toward her.

“Odalys!” Freya exclaimed excitedly, rushing over and throwing herself into Odalys’s arms, hugging her slender waist tightly.

“I haven’t seen you for half a day, and you already miss me so much?” Odalys teased.

Not far away, Selah approached, supporting her waist. Both women looked exhausted; the day's scene had clearly been intense.

Selah lowered her voice. “She’s been brooding all day about this morning—why you wouldn’t let us out during the opening ceremony, and why everyone was silent afterward.”

“She won’t tell anyone.”

“The strange thing is, we filmed all day with no accidents! Before, there were always casualties as soon as shooting started, making everyone nervous. Now, people are speculating you caught the ghost.”

Odalys raised an eyebrow, gently nudging Freya, whose adorable face was full of grievance. “Can’t you let me hold you for a little while longer?”

Odalys rubbed her brow, a dry smile curving her lips. “Are you done with work? I need to talk to you,” she whispered.

Francis and Stellan, still in costume, ran over.

“Edie wanted to set fire to the company today?” Francis exclaimed, shocked.

Stellan clenched his phone, his face flushed with anger. “Sophia gave you a hard time? But my mom saw Sophia in the hospital; she was injured.”

Freya and Selah were stunned, quickly checking their phones. After reading the trending searches and learning about the day's events, they were frightened. They couldn't believe so much had happened while they were filming.

“These are trivial matters. I have something very important to attend to. I need your cooperation,” Odalys whispered. As she spoke, the ring on her thumb emitted a scorching light.

“What is it?” they asked in unison.

Odalys looked around, walked to a dark corner, opened a folding door, and entered. The others followed. The moment the door closed, she took out several talismans and placed them in the four corners of the room.

Selah called out softly, “Odalys.” As she spoke, a fire erupted in the room. Selah recoiled, but Freya steadied her. Francis and Stellan were surprised but not overly shocked, exchanging knowing glances.

Odalys silently lit two sticks of incense and placed them before the window. The room's temperature plummeted; several people shivered, holding their breath.

Odalys’s voice echoed. “This filming location was once the home of a general hundreds of years ago. I saw him before the opening ceremony and learned the truth of his death. The accidents during filming were because he sensed danger—he thought someone wanted to claim his territory or that his enemy had returned for revenge.”

Their fear dissipated.

“The home of a general? Was he murdered? Was his whole family killed while he was at war?” Freya gasped. This kind of plot was common in novels and TV shows; many loyal and courageous generals met tragic ends. She felt empathy for the general.

“Not only that, but the woman he loved was also implicated. While fleeing, she died,” Odalys whispered, recounting what she had seen.

Silence fell.

Stellan watched as Odalys retrieved a ring from her bag and put it on her finger. The clear ring turned fiery red, like it had been dyed with blood.

“I cleansed him and promised to avenge him. However, a fragment of his soul is locked in this ring. Perhaps his experiences have caused a deep obsession. If his affairs aren't resolved, this part of his soul will disappear,” Odalys explained.

Selah was terrified. “What will happen to him?” she asked, curious and worried.

Odalys looked at the ring with a complicated gaze. “If this fragment of his soul learns his wish can't be granted, he will continue haunting this place and causing trouble.”

Freya was silent.

“So how can we help him? Kill his enemy? But centuries have passed; his enemy is dead. How about we buy this land and put it in his name?” Freya suggested softly, unable to think of a better solution. Since his obsession was tied to his home, returning the land might satisfy him.

“My father recently gave me a project. I can move it here, designate this as the acquisition location, and then merge and return it to him,” Stellan said after a moment. The Drake family was wealthy and influential; buying the land would be easy.
