Chapter 503

“When Odalys spoke of the situation,” she said, “it was a pity.”

“However,” she continued, “I couldn’t interfere too much in others’ lives. I could only point the way; whether they chose to follow was beyond my control. If I overstepped, I would have to bear the consequences. I’m not some saint, and I couldn’t accept the backlash from others either.”

“If he knew the truth and returned the life force, his next life would be smooth sailing. Unfortunately, the woman didn’t ask him to do so. The child, who doesn’t even know what’s going on, will have to suffer consequences that aren’t his,” Odalys said, her voice ringing with regret. “He didn’t mean to take someone else’s life force, but he enjoyed the health it brought him for over a decade. So, there will be a price to pay. This woman’s greed killed not only her and her son but also her brother-in-law’s child.”

“I tried to help the woman,” Odalys explained, “confident that if the child knew the truth, he would willingly return the life force. But the woman didn’t take that step.”

“Exactly! So she indirectly caused the deaths of two children!” Selah fumed, her chest heaving with anger. “The sight of that woman’s twisted face, pointing at Odalys and telling her to let her brother-in-law take action, enraged me. Fortunately, Odalys stepped in just in time, or I might have choked on my fury.”

“Everything hinges on her one thought. She originally planned to do as I suggested, but when she saw that child, she hesitated. Seeing how rich and luxurious others were, she craved more money,” Odalys said. “At that time, she didn’t care about her son. She just wanted to please her brother-in-law and get more benefits from him.” Destiny had long been sealed, and no matter how much one tried to foresee it, they would end up walking the path they were meant to. “Thankfully, she’s dead. I don’t feel the least bit sorry for her,” Freya said casually.

She kept scrolling through the comments. Many people who watched the livestream were as angry as she was, especially those who had just watched it at noon. Some were even concerned about what would happen next.

“No one expected the same woman to slander Odalys and try to have her kidnapped. The plot twists stunned everyone,” Freya commented. “Enough about her. How did filming go today!” Odalys quickly changed the subject. Talking about the dead was pointless now.

Francis, sipping his drink, hesitated, then said, “Odalys, something strange happened during the shoot.”

“What?” Odalys asked, confused.

Francis set his drink aside, took a deep breath, and began, “I had a scene where I was supposed to ride a horse and shoot arrows. But after we went around once, someone suddenly appeared. He asked if I was Francis. I thought he was a crew member and answered yes. He stared at me for a long time, then said to come find him at midnight.”

As Francis spoke, everyone felt a prickle of unease. After the strange “Devil’s Triangle” encounter the night before, no one was sleeping soundly.

“I turned around, and he was gone. After the shoot, I felt strange. My hands were itching, so I thought I might be allergic to something. But look at this,” Francis said, rolling up his sleeve to reveal a faint mark resembling a blooming rose on his arm. No matter how much he rubbed, it wouldn’t fade.

“He said to meet him at midnight. Did you agree?” Odalys asked urgently.

Francis shook his head. Since meeting Odalys, he had been more cautious about supernatural occurrences, especially since strange events had often happened in this area before. “No,” he replied.

Chapter 503 (continued)

Odalys stretched out her hand to hold his arm, lowered her head, and stared at the mark. Percival also moved closer. He extended a long finger, lightly rubbing the mark, his voice low as he murmured, “This mark… I think I’ve seen it before.”

“I thought it looked familiar too,” Odalys added, her voice matching Percival’s.

Without thinking, Odalys moved aside to let Percival sit next to her.

Hearing their words, Francis felt nervous.

“After he spoke to me, I turned around and he was gone. Later, I asked around, but no one in the crew knew him. I even checked with the neighboring crew, but no one had seen him either,” Francis continued. “And he was wearing clothes from around the 1920s,” he added.

Stellan, who had been silent until now, spoke. “Clothes from the 1920s… Wasn’t this film set in the same location where, during the 1920s, the mansion was torn down to make way for the film set?”

It was an eerie coincidence.

Odalys instinctively touched the ring in her bag, a feeling stirring deep inside her. She sensed something was about to happen, but she couldn’t yet tell what.

“Odalys,” Percival suddenly called her name.

When Odalys heard him, she instinctively leaned closer, her face almost touching his. Percival lowered his head, his lips brushing her ear as he spoke softly, “When we were at the junction of energy, the clothes we wore for our wedding were also from the 1920s.”

“I’m not sure if there’s any connection, but since we could see ourselves from that time, and now he’s seeing someone from that era too, do you think there might be a link?” Percival asked.

Regardless of whether there was a connection, they couldn’t afford to be careless.

“Before I came here, the ring the major general gave me reacted,” Odalys said. She took off the ring and handed it to Percival. He took the ring, played with it in his palm, and seemed lost in thought. They were sitting so close that their bodies almost touched, an unspoken chemistry creating an almost palpable tension.

Freya, sitting across from them, rested her hand on her cheek, watching the scene. She quietly took a couple of photos and sent them to Evander.

“[Grandpa! Look! Evander seems to be in love!]” Freya was so excited her hands were shaking. It felt as if she had finally caught Percival in a vulnerable moment.

“I have a picture where it looks like they’re about to kiss, I’ll send it to you,” Selah whispered, quickly sending the photo to Freya and giving her an “OK” gesture. They shared a knowing smile.

“Good job,” Freya said with a grin.

Francis, sitting nearby, felt distracted and was about to retract his arm.

“Tonight, I’ll pick you up,” Percival suddenly said.

Francis froze, unsure if he had heard correctly. “Did you mean me?” he asked, a little stunned. He hadn’t expected Percival to offer to pick him up. It sounded strange, like something a guy would say to a woman.

“Yes, after you finish filming, I’ll pick you up,” Percival said.
