Chapter 59

Percival calmly analyzed the situation. Callum, somewhat taken aback, followed his train of thought. "Someone leaked your illness, knowing you were seriously ill. The Bennett family fears offending the Stewarts."

"If the Stewarts request a marriage proposal, the Bennetts wouldn't dare refuse. To prevent this, they brought Mrs. Stewart back as a backup?"

Percival nodded slightly, a flicker of coldness in his eyes. "Ordinary servants wouldn't know the extent of my illness. Only those close to me. Don't act hastily; investigate secretly and find out who's behind this," he said coldly.

"Understood." Callum's heart jolted. Gripping his iPad tightly, he turned and strode from the room.

Percival stood alone for a moment, then entered the bathroom. He noticed a small hole in the windowpane and the faint smell of something scorched. In the corner, a speck of ash—a paper charm. He touched it, rubbing it between his fingers.

"Mr. Stewart…" Dorian approached quickly, hesitant.

Percival turned, quietly asking, "What happened?"

"Mrs. Stewart mentioned I might have kidney stones…" Dorian began, producing a CT scan. "I had a checkup; it was caught early. Otherwise, at my age, I might not have handled repeated laser surgeries."

Percival's eyes darkened. "She figured that out just by looking at you?"

"Yes," Dorian replied, quickly showing a saved video. "I watched Mrs. Stewart's livestream. There's online controversy, but her divination for Selah came true that night. She also placed a talisman on the cave entrance to stop the flooding. And when she treated you, I saw her use a paper charm to summon lightning. Mr. Stewart, I think Mrs. Stewart is more than a healer; she has hidden talents," Dorian said softly.

Percival thoughtfully examined the CT scan, pausing before saying, "Tonight's events must remain between us few."

"Understood," Dorian quickly nodded.

"People are talkative. Not everyone believes her variety show abilities, but if someone with ill intentions notices, her situation could become dangerous. The Bennetts won't let her off easily," Percival said deeply.

Dorian, stunned, realized Percival's careful consideration. "Yes, I won't tell anyone," he said, feeling a heavy weight in his chest. He hadn't considered the danger to Odalys, only her abilities. Percival said nothing more, moving toward the door as Dorian stepped back.

Outside the bedroom, an eerie silence reigned. Percival sat on the sofa, contemplating. Then, he picked up his phone, went outside, and stood before Odalys's door. After a long pause, he knocked.

"Who is it?" Odalys asked, lying on her bed, her thoughts interrupted. She quickly got up and opened the door, surprised to see Percival. "Mr. Stewart? Did you need something?"

"If it's convenient, would you mind adding me on WhatsApp? That way, you can reach me directly," Percival said softly.

Odalys, unexpected, went back into her room, added him on WhatsApp, and exchanged numbers.

"Here you go," Percival said softly, handing her a car key. Odalys looked at him in confusion. "It's not convenient to take a taxi. I've arranged a car for you. If the driver isn't around, you can drive it yourself," he said softly. "It's a BMW 5 Series."

Odalys was surprised. "Well, thank you!"

"Get some rest. Goodnight," Percival said, turning to leave.

She called out softly, "Percival…" He stopped, glancing back with a look of confusion.

She continued, "If you want to find out who poisoned you, start with your closest relatives. This poison is potent, lingering in your blood. They likely used a family member's blood as a base. I suspect your family has investigated for years without success. Try to remember who you contacted around midnight on a particular night. That might help."

Her words shocked Percival. The poison had flared years ago, causing deterioration and confusion. Only later did they discover it was poisoning.

"Thank you," Percival said hoarsely, his expression inscrutable.

Odalys smiled. "No need to thank me. Think of it as a thank-you gift for the car, though a BMW 5 Series is flashy for an ordinary person."

She retreated into her room. Percival stood outside, her words weighing heavily on his mind, making him clench his fists.

That night, Odalys slept well. When she awoke, it was midday. She checked her phone, bombarded by news notifications:

  • [Bennett Entertainment is on the brink of bankruptcy.]
  • [Caspian was arrested for drug use after a late-night incident.]
  • [Rumors claim Sophia was once a mistress.]

These headlines flooded her screen. Another viral topic: [Requesting Odalys to open a Twitter account. Fans want to watch the goddess’s live-streamed divination.] This trending topic had 200,000 comments requesting an account and more divination sessions. Some even wanted to buy her water-blocking talismans.

Odalys got dressed, washed up, and went outside. Dorian greeted her. "Mrs. Stewart, what would you like for lunch?" he asked respectfully.

"Anything is fine," Odalys replied. She'd always been happy with whatever was available.

"I've prepared roast chicken and other dishes. Here's the menu," Dorian said softly, handing it to her.
