Chapter 607
Everyone was stunned by Freya's expression of shock, as if she were looking at an insane person. She watched him stand there, one hand across his face, the other clutching his leg.
"Is it masochistic tendencies?" Francis asked, puzzled, after a long silence.
Odalys didn't respond. She took half a step back, followed by the other two.
"All of you die!" Windsor roared incessantly. It was as if a demon within him directed his every movement. He lunged at Odalys. While beating himself, he suddenly smiled wickedly, then spun around and…
"Ah!" Windsor flew backward from Odalys's kick.
A loud bang echoed from outside the door, followed by two figures bursting in.
"What are you doing, Odalys!" "Dad!"
Atlas and Caspian's voices rang out simultaneously. The moment they entered, Windsor, having been kicked by Odalys, flew straight into them, knocking them to the floor.
"Ugh," they groaned in pain, their faces contorting. Trapped beneath Windsor, they struggled to free themselves. He swiftly flipped over, holding them down. Then, Windsor leaned down and bit them.
"Ah!" Atlas cried out. His chest, still wounded from Sophia's attack, was reopened by Windsor's bite, tearing flesh through his clothes. The excruciating pain was almost unbearable.
"Dad, what are you doing? It's me, Caspian!" Caspian panicked. He'd rushed over after Odalys's call, but before he could understand the chaos, Windsor knocked him over. Windsor, seemingly mad, viciously attacked his neck. The pain jolted Caspian back to reality. He gripped Windsor's neck and shoved him away.
Seeing the playful look in Odalys's eyes, Caspian's heart skipped a beat. Even a fool could see that Odalys had called them for a reason.
"Caspian, is Dad gone crazy?" Atlas asked, terrified. His chest wound was torn open, and he was near fainting from the pain. Windsor's bloodshot, enraged eyes reminded Atlas of a maniacal beast from a horror movie. Even Caspian sensed something was terribly wrong.
Caspian kicked Windsor to the ground, pounced on him, and pinned him down.
"Ouch," Caspian grunted, clutching his neck. He touched the wound, grimacing. As he met Odalys's eyes, his lips moved, wanting to speak.
"Don't bother asking me for help. The Bennett family's matters are none of my concern. Since you're here, handle it yourselves," Odalys waved dismissively. Seeing Caspian brought back memories of the previous timeline and his plan for her posthumous marriage. Before, she'd been puzzled by the concept. After last night, when Caspian had sent Sophia away for the posthumous marriage… she realized Caspian had tried to sell her into one, making her a bride in that villa's basement. Edie was the mastermind. It dawned on Odalys: in the previous timeline, everything felt destined. Even with a second chance, nothing had changed; she was alive, but everything else followed the same course.
"What have you done! Even if you were abandoned, you still have the Bennett family's blood in you, Odalys! Why would you do this to Dad? No matter what, he is our father!" Atlas yelled in anguish. Looking at Odalys, he saw a cold, unfamiliar stranger.
Odalys smirked. "He's your father, not mine. The money he earned was spent on you, not me. You enjoyed the affluent life he provided; I didn't. You used his connections…" she said coldly, her tone emotionless. "They abandoned me and nearly killed me. My gratitude for life and hatred for their attempt to kill me cancel each other out." Despite their pain, she felt nothing.
"Ah!" Windsor screamed in pain.
Caspian felt anger listening to Odalys, yet his gaze was full of conflicted emotions. They knew she was right, but seeing her thrive while they suffered filled them with bitter resentment.
"I brought you here to show you what happens to those who cross me," Odalys's gaze swept over them, a chilling glint in her eyes. Caspian and Henry recoiled; a sense of foreboding washed over them. As Odalys stepped forward, they tried to cry out, "No!", but no sound escaped.
Odalys didn't give them a chance. With a flick of her wrist, she summoned another talisman and hurled it at Windsor. A deafening boom echoed as Windsor was seemingly blown away, his body bouncing before falling with a sickening thud. Shadows were ripped from his body, darting swiftly into Caspian and Atlas. Both brothers cried out. Windsor landed with a brittle crack, groaning and spitting blood. He lay there, eyes wide with disbelief, looking at Odalys, then at the stricken Caspian and Atlas.
"Ah!" Caspian and Atlas screamed. They felt something drilling inside their bodies, trying to occupy them—a maddening itch they couldn't scratch, driving them to the brink of insanity.
Chapter 607
"What happened to me!" Windsor sat up. He looked at his hands in disbelief, then turned to Odalys in astonishment.
"I don't care about your intentions in sending that message, but since you suppressed those things and regained your senses despite the backlash, I'll give you a chance. I've expelled the shadow inside you, along with the other soul that wanted to replace you, and transferred them into Atlas and Caspian's bodies. But they've been in your body too long and have taken ownership, so you only have 48 hours of consciousness. After 48 hours, they will break out of Caspian and Windsor's bodies and return to yours," Odalys said.
