Chapter 609
Francis chimed in, "Odalys is no saint. How could she forgive those who hurt her? It's remarkable she didn't kill them."
"Oh, is that so? You think you're the only one who knows her well?" Freya retorted, sparking an argument.
Seeing her approach, Francis quickly raised his hand, saying, "You're the only one who understands her." Freya silently withdrew her hand, seeing his reaction. Their arguments, even at their young ages, were utterly childish.
Odalys was amused by their bickering. Rubbing her temples, she mused, "How good it is to be young." Freya wrapped her arms around Odalys, acting coquettishly. Though older, Freya acted coquettishly towards Odalys, who indulged and spoiled her rotten.
"By the way," Francis asked with concern, "should we keep Atlas and Caspian locked up here? What are we going to do with them?" After all, it was a film set, with constant traffic.
"Lock the door first. I'll ask Henry to pick them up later," Odalys replied.
Freya shrank back, glancing at Francis. "What about the bite marks on Francis's neck? Is it dangerous? Will it make him a ghost magnet or something?" she asked, her imagination running wild.
Francis subconsciously touched his neck. The scene kept flashing through his mind, and he still felt scared.
"He'll be fine after washing the wound with talisman water," Odalys explained. "The creature was burned by Zachary; after transferring to Oliver and backfiring, its vitality was severely damaged. This time, it was forced to transfer to Windsor. It can only bite; it can no longer absorb divine energy. Later, I will return it to its original form and send it away."
She hadn't initially wanted to interfere, but found these occurrences increasingly annoying. She'd initially wanted to see what Oliver intended to use it for, but his weakness removed any reason to keep the creature.
"That's good," Freya breathed a sigh of relief. Biting her fingertip, she asked, "Why are more problems coming Francis's way after his name change?"
"If he hadn't changed his last name, he'd be dead," Odalys said lightly.
Francis trembled. Recent events, many directed at him, flooded his mind.
Freya was silent for a few seconds before pushing Francis toward Odalys. She wasn't worried about herself; if Francis was too far from Odalys and something happened, Odalys would have to return, which would be inconvenient.
Francis grew even quieter after being pushed.
"What if we use him as bait to lure out the mastermind?" Francis suddenly suggested. He felt like a ticking bomb; better to detonate him directly. Always in danger, a swift, fatal blow made more sense than living in constant fear.
"We'll talk about this later. Let's see what's happening at Stellar's," Odalys said.
The three went over. Zachary stood there, ashen-faced, speaking to Selah. Hearing footsteps, they turned. Seeing Odalys and the others, Selah ran forward.
"How is it? Did you find the man?" Odalys asked.
Selah looked awkwardly at Zachary. "It's better if he tells you."
Zachary's expression was grim. He lit a cigarette. After a long time, he said, "We investigated. We reviewed today's surveillance footage and found that my brother-in-law has been secretly following Francis."
"He's my wife's brother. His business failed recently, and he's struggled to find work. He recently helped out on set with some easy tasks."
Zachary looked thoughtfully at Odalys. "He's honest and dutiful. I wonder if there's a misunderstanding?" he asked cautiously. He and his wife might divorce if this wasn't handled well.
Odalys looked at him coldly. Zachary's heart pounded.
"Remember how Oliver was after the baby in your wife's belly?" Odalys suddenly asked.
The others held their breath, sensing something.
"Tell me, why did Oliver target your wife? Did it start when your brother-in-law's business failed? Or when your wife accompanied him to pray?" Odalys asked calmly.
Zachary's fingers crushed his cigarette. His mind raced.
"Oliver targeted your wife because of her birth date. He wanted her to conceive, linking a lingering presence to the unborn child. If your wife miscarries, two lives are lost. Who will inherit her property? Check if she purchased insurance. Check the beneficiary," Odalys reminded.
Zachary panicked, pulling out his phone. After his assistant answered, he immediately investigated. The set was tense and silent. Sweat beaded on Zachary's forehead. After a while, his phone vibrated.
He answered. His assistant spoke briefly before hanging up. Zachary opened WhatsApp and was stunned—his brother-in-law was the beneficiary of all her insurance plans.
"Life insurance, critical illness insurance, accidental death insurance... Over 30 million dollars," he muttered.
Freya leaned closer, startled. "Odalys, these policies are more ruthless than the ones the Hennett family bought for you." No one would buy so many policies.
"Why didn't she tell me?" Zachary's face turned pale. He'd investigated with Stellan, and doubted the brother-in-law's involvement. Now, the insurance made him deeply uncomfortable.
"Zachery, are you looking for me?" A man in a vest walked over, his gaze falling on Freya when he saw the celebrities.
