Chapter 76
Looking at the disdain in the bodyguard's eyes, Henry couldn't help but think of the Porsche that had directly knocked his car off the road. His back was still covered in cold sweat. He didn't dare to think too much and stepped on the accelerator.
He drove back to the hospital, bought some fruit and food, and walked toward the inpatient department.
As soon as he pushed open the door and entered, he saw Sophia standing up from the sofa. Her body swayed, and she spat out a mouthful of blood.
She screamed softly. It felt as if something were burning inside her, as if it were trying to tear her apart. Sophia rolled her eyes and fell to the ground.
"Sophia!" Hannah cried out in shock, seeing her vomit blood and fall. "Quick, call the doctor!"
Seeing this, Henry threw down his things and hurried out.
A doctor entered and saw Sophia lying unconscious on the ground. Noticing her pale face, he quickly examined her. After a while, he said, "She's probably malnourished and hasn't slept well. It's nothing. Let her sleep, and she'll be fine."
A nurse came forward and carried Sophia to the empty bed. This was a VIP ward with two beds—one for the patient and one for a caregiver.
"But she just vomited blood," Henry frowned, vaguely sensing that things were not so simple.
"She's probably just angry. She's fine. If you don't believe me, you can take her to another hospital for a checkup," the doctor said sourly. He clearly didn't treat patients who doubted him well.
Henry was stunned. He stood there in a daze, not expecting a doctor to lose his temper at him.
In the past, wherever he went, people had been polite to him. However, recently, everyone seemed unhappy with him. Even knowing he was the CEO of Bennett Entertainment, people looked down on him.
"Why does she look so pale?" Henry stood before the bed.
Sophia's expression was extremely grim. She looked as if she had aged several years. Henry vaguely felt that she looked different—like someone else.
Doubt clouded his eyes. If he hadn't seen that it was Sophia when he entered, he wouldn't have recognized her.
Hannah said, "She's probably overly worried about me. She's so selfless, it breaks my heart. She's afraid we'll worry and doesn't dare tell us about her situation."
"We implicated her. She should have been on camera, enjoying the admiration of fans and netizens, but now her reputation is ruined. She went on a variety show and was deliberately ostracized by Odalys, causing her to be hated by the entire internet."
"Henry, you have to find a way to clear her name. She's too kind-hearted and can't stand the criticism of others. I haven't let her look at her phone, in case she sees the criticism."
Hannah looked up and noticed a palm print on Henry's cheek. "Henry, what happened to your face? Who hit you?"
She could clearly see his red, swollen face. Hannah sat up excitedly, heartache evident. "Did Odalys do it? How could she attack you?"
"Mom, I don't want to talk about it. I want to be alone," Henry said irritably. He took out a cigarette and lit it, his frustration boiling over.
He hadn't been to the company for several days because many people were protesting at the entrance. Many celebrities were taking a break and looking for other opportunities.
The Bennett Group was in a perilous situation overnight, struggling for survival.
"Mom, what happened?" Atlas and Caspian walked in, seeing Henry slumped despondently on the sofa.
They walked over and looked at Sophia before disdainfully asking, "Who is this?"
"Isn't this a VIP ward? Why are you sharing it with other patients? I'll call the doctor and have the nurse move her," Caspian said.
Atlas agreed, "That's right. With outsiders around, Mom's safety can't be guaranteed. Besides, it's not convenient for us to talk. If someone overhears us and spreads the news, there will be trouble." Obviously, they knew their private conversation couldn't be overheard.
"No! What are you doing? This is Sophia!" Hannah was furious, seeing them lift Sophia to throw her out.
"What? She's Sophia!" Atlas was stunned and quickly let go. Caspian quickly retracted his hand. Sophia's body fell heavily back onto the bed, groaning in pain.
"Sophia, why... why are you so ugly?" Caspian swallowed, looking suspiciously at Sophia.
Atlas reached out to touch her face. "Isn't her skin usually very smooth? It's so rough now," Atlas said, immediately retracting his hand as if he'd touched something dirty. Caspian quickly turned to Henry.
"It's her," Henry nodded quietly.
Hannah threw a pillow at them. "There's a difference between a girl wearing makeup and not wearing it. If Sophia hears you say this, she'll be furious."
Atlas and Caspian fell silent, stealing glances at Sophia before quickly looking away.
"Where's Odalys? Didn't you ask her to come and apologize?" Atlas looked around the ward, realizing Odalys wasn't there. He was puzzled, wondering if she had run away.
"Henry, I've been asking around. The land in the East District belongs to Orson," Caspian suddenly said.
Hearing this, Henry looked up sharply. "Are you sure?" Henry's voice was hoarse with excitement.
"I'm sure. I've seen the documents. It's indeed in Orson's hands. Doesn't Finnian like Sophia? Find an opportunity to get him to ask Orson. Once this land deal is settled, the Bennett Group's current predicament will be resolved," Caspian said.
Henry frowned. He vaguely remembered that this land used to belong to the Stewart Group.
