Chapter 78
Odalys quickly texted Freya, who called almost immediately. Odalys was dumbfounded. She hadn't expected Freya to be so readily available.
"What fun thing!" Freya's excited voice chirped. Despite being 23, she remained incredibly childish.
"Do you want to go to the hospital to visit Sophia?" Odalys asked quietly.
Freya rolled her eyes and asked mysteriously, "Is something wrong with her?"
"Yes," Odalys replied softly.
As soon as she finished, she heard Freya jump up. "I'll find out where she is and pick you up immediately!" Freya exclaimed. She enjoyed seeing Sophia in trouble and excelled at rubbing salt in wounds.
"No need. She's at Central Hospital," Odalys said quietly.
Freya tossed her phone aside and, while changing clothes, said, "Alright, I'll drive over."
"Let's meet at the hospital entrance," Odalys said softly.
Freya paused before quietly asking, "Should we call Selah?"
"Okay," Odalys readily agreed. They'd planned dinner for tomorrow, but this was unexpected.
Odalys chose a loose black T-shirt, leggings, and stylish sneakers. After tying up her hair and donning a cap, she grabbed a canvas bag and hurried downstairs.
"Mrs. Stewart, are you going out?" Dorian, who was texting on the sofa, stood up respectfully as he heard the commotion.
"I'm going out for a while," Odalys replied, grabbing her car keys and leaving. She drove off in her BMW. The bodyguards outside saw this.
They immediately called Dorian. "Dorian, Mrs. Stewart is out late at night. Should we follow and protect her?"
After a pause, Dorian replied, "Go. But don't let her know; she might think Mr. Stewart is spying on her."
The bodyguards promptly followed. Henry had caused trouble just two hours ago; they feared he might attack Odalys without their protection. They saw Percival's tacit acceptance of Odalys as his wife, implicitly making her their superior. Their generations-long loyalty to the Stewarts compelled them to ensure her safety.
Unaware of this, Odalys drove to Central Hospital. Upon parking, she spotted Selah under a streetlamp, wearing a mask and looking out.
"Selah!" Odalys hurried towards her.
Selah's eyes lit up, and she rushed to hug Odalys tightly.
Freya, already out of her sports car, squeezed between them, shouting, "Hey, leave some room!"
After a long hug, Selah's eyes were red with emotion.
"What happened?" Freya asked, sensing something was amiss.
Wiping her tears, Selah explained, "Luckily, Odalys's earlier fortune telling warned me, so I avoided Lucian's trap."
"I heard Lucian bet with others after filming the variety show, claiming he could get resources from Sophia. He even made a deal with someone, using me as a tool—offering me to men. He doesn't like me; he treats all girls the same, being ambiguous with many. Several girls, like me, almost fell for it."
Selah was furious. Being offered to men wasn't just about sex; the entertainment industry was rife with exploitation. She recounted stories of girls being stripped and assaulted, their lives ruined by blackmail videos.
Selah gritted her teeth. "Luckily, his plan failed. After disembarking the ship, he was arrested. I heard he deliberately pushed you down the mountain and even tried to lure me into calling you. It's a serious crime; he'll be jailed for at least three years. But Sophia wasn't implicated, likely due to the Bennett family's influence."
She'd initially liked Sophia, but now saw her as a manipulative person.
"You betrayed Lucian, but you also got him arrested. The people behind him won't let you go," Odalys warned.
Selah shrugged. "Fine. I'll terminate my contract after the show. I'll lose money, but I can start over. That's better than being manipulated."
Freya gave her a thumbs-up. "You've got guts! I like it!"
"So, what are we doing at the hospital? Looking for trouble with Sophia?" Selah asked.
Odalys remained silent, Freya gesturing for silence. They entered the hospital, masked and hatted, and found Hannah's VIP ward.
"My face!" Sophia cried from the bathroom.
Washing her face, she saw her sallow skin and lifeless eyes. She'd shrunk.
"How? How did I change?" Sophia was shocked. She splashed water on the mirror, realizing her face hadn't changed. She muttered about illusions and retreated.
She rushed to Hannah's bedside, "Mom, look at my face. Is something wrong?"
Hannah, with a broken leg and crooked mouth, barely responded, "It's fine." Saliva dribbled from her mouth, soaking her pillow.
"How can it be fine! I saw it in the mirror," Sophia whispered.
Turning, she saw three figures at the door. Her eyes widened as Odalys entered.
