Chapter 83

“We’ll talk about it when the time comes. I might still stay in this industry,” Odalys said softly. After her rebirth, her focus had been solely on revenge. Money and reputation were inconsequential.

Her phone vibrated. Odalys glanced at it, surprised by the message from Percival. It read: "[Are you not coming back tonight?]"

Odalys replied: "[No]"

Percival: "[Be careful.]"

Odalys: "[Okay.]"

He didn't reply. She stared at the screen for a moment before putting her phone away.

“Did you hear? Finnian’s ruined! I don’t know if it’s true about him and Sophia. Do you think they’re having an affair?” Selah gossiped.

After interacting with them and becoming more familiar, Selah was less reserved.

Freya mused softly, “Sophia doesn’t seem interested in Finnian. With her ambition, she’d aim for a richer man, wouldn't she? Finnian’s an illegitimate child. Abandoned by his family, he’s nothing.”

“Sophia wouldn't be with an illegitimate child. Besides, the Bennetts wouldn't allow it. They prioritize profit and have a history of shady dealings.”

As she finished speaking, the doorbell rang.

“Who is it?” Selah asked.

The doorbell didn't ring twice; it continued ringing incessantly.

“Is it the police investigating prostitution? That’s impossible. We’re three women. They wouldn’t search our room,” Freya said, bewildered.

She quickly opened the door to find a drunken Finnian standing outside. The strong smell of alcohol hit her.

“Finnian, what are you doing here?” Freya asked sharply, speaking loudly enough for Odalys and Selah to hear.

Finnian didn't answer. He tried to enter. Freya panicked, attempting to close the door, but Finnian forced his way in. In a desperate move, she turned and bumped him with her hip, slamming the door shut, trapping him in the doorway.

Finnian groaned in pain. His bloodshot eyes fixed on Freya as he gripped the doorframe, saying coldly, “Tell Odalys to come out and see me.”

Odalys and Selah approached, their mouths twitching as they saw Freya holding Finnian against the doorframe. When Finnian saw Odalys, he struggled to enter fully. Freya panicked, trying to push harder, but Odalys pulled her back.

“Odalys, don’t fall for his tricks!” Freya warned anxiously. Remembering the suggestive scene between Finnian and Sophia on the variety show, she knew he wasn’t a good person. Odalys patted her shoulder and approached Finnian, smiling.

He grabbed her arm. “It’s you, isn’t it? You did this, didn’t you?” Finnian said urgently.

Yesterday, he’d tracked Odalys’s phone. He couldn’t recall what happened afterward, only that he was in serious trouble.

“What did I do?” Odalys sneered.

Finnian hesitated, unsure how to explain. Admitting he'd installed a tracking device and followed her would implicate him in a crime. Odalys slapped his hand away.

Finnian stumbled back, hitting the doorframe. Odalys grabbed his collar, her smile deepening.

“Are you asking if I deliberately led you to the building? Or if I was the one who prompted you to call Mrs. Lark and expose yourself?” she asked.

Finnian's pupils constricted. He hadn't expected her to know. His earlier doubts vanished. He wanted to escape but Odalys held him firmly.

She threw him into the suite and slammed the door. Seeing him rise, she approached, her coldness forcing him to retreat in fear.

“You put a tracker on my phone to follow me?” Odalys said coldly.

Freya and Selah stared in disbelief and shock.

“You…” Finnian felt as if struck by lightning. His phone had just vibrated, locating Odalys. He'd used connections to find her room number. He looked at Odalys, his expression worsening.

“Did you do this on purpose? Lure me here?” Finnian stammered, his voice trembling.

Odalys laughed softly, raising an eyebrow. “What else could it be?”

“Odalys, you bitch! I’m a Lark! How dare you plot against me?” Finnian shouted, clenching his fists.

He lunged at Odalys, but she kicked him hard, sending him flying into a table. He clutched his side, kneeling in pain.

“Does it hurt? Good,” Odalys said, a fake smile on her face. His face reminded her of her past life, manipulated by him, suffering depression and ultimately dying a tragic death due to his and Sophia's actions, along with the Bennett family's interference.

The hatred in Odalys’s eyes intensified. Finnian, terrified, retreated and collapsed to the ground.
