Chapter 84

“Odalys, don’t do anything rash! Don’t come over!” Finnian was so frightened he tried to get up. Odalys, however, raised her foot and ruthlessly stepped on him. He groaned, feeling his kidneys crushed.

He groaned in pain, saliva seeping from the corner of his mouth. He grabbed the carpet, struggling to crawl forward, but couldn't move. He quickly pulled out his phone to call the police, but Freya rushed forward, slapping the phone away and grabbing his hand.

“How dare you track a woman’s phone? Finnian, you’re fucking disgusting!” Freya fumed. She hadn't expected Finnian to be so terrifying. Tracking someone's phone not only violates their privacy but also puts them in danger.

“Odalys, should we call the police?” Selah was anxious, her eyes red as she glared at Finnian with hatred. Someone had previously tracked her phone, almost leading to her rape. Only Lucian's intervention had saved her from a terrible fate. The memory clenched her fists.

“Did you see that? There are no coincidences. If there are, it's a deliberate scheme! Many things are man-made,” Odalys said quietly.

Selah stared in shock. Odalys's words seemed to explode in her mind. “You mean…” Selah's pupils constricted. She stumbled back onto the sofa.

Her voice trembled. “Yes, Lucian tracked my phone then. That's why I was surrounded by men in a remote place…”

“Otherwise, how could those men target me where there were no surveillance cameras, and then Lucian appear? No wonder he gave me a new phone afterward—he'd tracked my old one, right?”

Freya, trembling with anger, glared resentfully at Finnian.

“Isn’t that obvious?” Freya asked. Selah, enraged, leaped at Finnian, kicking and scolding him. “Scumbag! How dare you…” She didn't care about her image, finding satisfaction in her rage. She slapped his face repeatedly until he groaned, quickly rising to flee.

“Come back here, you scumbag!” Selah yelled, chasing him barefoot. Grabbing a bottle, she pursued him into the corridor, throwing it at him as he bolted through the door. Finnian grunted, the bottle hitting his back. He staggered, nearly falling.

He didn't dare hesitate, rushing into the elevator. He saw Selah charging after him, her expression ferocious. Fortunately, the elevator doors closed.

“What a bunch of lunatics!” Finnian, terrified, leaned against the elevator wall. He felt like he'd survived a calamity. Dazed, Odalys's words echoed in his mind. He was utterly confused.

Finnian gritted his teeth. “How did this happen? How did Odalys know I tracked her phone? When did she become so skilled? Does she know something? Impossible! I hid it well. She must be lying! She's worried the Bennetts won't value her anymore, that no one will want her if they abandon her. That's why she's trying to destroy me. Odalys, you bitch, how dare you cheat me!”

The pain made him unsteady. He put on his mask shakily and hurried out of the hotel. In his car, he lit a cigarette and took a long drag.

“The number you have dialed is switched off?” Enraged, Finnian threw his phone aside and gripped the steering wheel tightly.

Sophis turned off her phone. The Bennett Group's scandal was causing a huge uproar; the company was facing its most difficult time. If he helped, monopolizing the Bennett family might be possible. His ambitions lay outside the entertainment industry; he'd used it to network with the wealthy, planning to return to the Lark Group and reclaim everything. But now, with the Lark family suppressing him, he needed an ally. The Bennetts were his best bet. He drove toward the hospital.

In the hotel suite, Odalys crossed her arms, looking at Freya and chuckling.

“Did you see that? She’s quite capable,” Odalys said.

Freya was stunned, then reacted. “So, you brought us out to dinner tonight to let her vent? You lured Finnian here to indirectly tell her about her phone being tracked!”

Odalys gently poked her forehead. “What else could it be?” she whispered. She'd been harmed by a scumbag, leading to severe depression and ultimately, her family forcing her to her death. As a woman, she didn't want Selah to suffer the same fate.

“She needs to vent. Suppressing it will cause problems later,” Odalys said. Selah deserved to know the truth. Blind trust in Lucian could be deadly.

“Odalys,” Selah entered, having overheard. She cried, rushing to hug Odalys, who offered silent comfort.

When Selah calmed, Odalys patted her head. “Don’t trust others blindly. On the deserted island, I warned you that misplaced trust ruins lives.”

Selah said emotionally, “After his arrest, I stopped thinking about him, feeling only indignation. I didn't expect everything was planned by him. But it's been six months, and I have no evidence to sue him.”

Odalys pulled Selah onto the sofa. “Don't take things so hard for a man. Life is short. Live for yourself.”
