Chapter 91
“I’ll do it,” Odalys said. She produced a talisman and placed it on the red cloth. The cloth exploded with a bang, revealing a black box inside. The box slowly opened, revealing a red note.
Percival reached out and picked it up. He saw Exander’s name written on it.
“Grandpa,” Percival’s voice was hoarse. His fingertips trembled as he looked at Evander in disbelief.
Seeing this, Evander quickly reached out to take the note. When he saw what was written, his eyes darkened and his fingertips trembled. “It’s my name and birthdate,” he said, turning to Odalys.
She glanced at it and said, “This is a Locking Cure. The tree has a lot of energy. Burying this with your name and birthdate siphons your life force. After a long time, you’ll be exhausted and eventually die.” She explained in a low voice, then rubbed the note until it ignited with her fingertip. She threw it into the wooden box, burning both box and cloth.
“Not many people know your real name and birthdate, and they're in this location. Think about who it might be,” Odalys said quietly.
Percival and Evander exchanged glances.
Evander said in a deep voice, “Seven months ago, when I was reminded of my dream to get Percival married, you were brought home by the Bennett family. After your marriage, this was buried under a tree. When I tried to see you, I inexplicably broke my leg.” His eyes turned cold. “Someone is preventing me from seeing you and trying to kill me silently. If I die, it will be Percival’s turn soon. Since the Bennett family dislikes you, you’ll naturally be manipulated. What role does the Bennett family play in this?”
Percival exchanged glances with Odalys. Percival said coldly, “Grandpa, Odalys was abandoned. The Bennett family replaced her with Sophia. Now, they’ve found her and sent her to the Stewart family. It doesn’t matter what role the Bennett family plays; we won’t tolerate them anymore. I’ve cut off all their avenues; I can do whatever I want with them. If they dare to make another move, I will destroy them.”
Odalys was surprised. The atmosphere in the Stewart family was very good; Evander was unassuming, and Percival respected him greatly.
“Odalys, if the Stewart family were to deal with the Bennett Group, what would you think?” Evander’s voice was hoarse.
Odalys smiled calmly, rising lazily to enjoy the breeze, admiring the roses and watching the fish in the pool. “Grandpa, the Bennett family has nothing to do with me,” she said quietly. “In my previous life, they forced me to undress and made videos, causing me to commit suicide. Since then, the Bennett family has been nothing to me.”
“Good. I’m relieved to hear that,” Evander laughed heartily. He waved his hand. “It’s about time. Let’s eat.”
The butler approached, announcing lunch was ready. Percival pushed the wheelchair, Odalys walking beside them as they entered the house. Evander was clearly happy, eating more than usual. He even asked the butler to serve Odalys luxurious food. Watching her eat, his joy was evident.
Evander said, “If you like it, take it all with you.” He turned to the butler. “Pack the lobsters, truffles, and other luxury food in the storeroom.”
“Yes,” the butler quickly responded.
Odalys wanted to refuse, but Percival turned, whispering hoarsely in her ear, “Just take it. Grandpa’s old and doesn’t like to eat these.” His hot breath brushed against her ear, making her feel a little itchy. She looked up and saw his Adam’s apple bob.
“Grandpa, are you going back to your room to rest? I’ll take you,” Odalys quickly said.
Evander, though surprised, nodded slightly. “Alright, I’m old and my health isn’t as good as before.”
“I’ll do it,” Percival said, going forward to support the wheelchair. Odalys followed.
They took the elevator to the third floor. Evander’s room was on the east side.
The moment the door closed, Odalys said, “Grandpa, let me give you a talisman.”
Odalys took a bag and poured its contents onto the table. Percival was surprised. Women usually carried cosmetics; Odalys had talismans, magic dust, and a brush. She picked up the dust and brush.
“Lift Grandpa’s pants,” she whispered. Percival quickly stepped forward, lifting Evander’s pants to reveal his leg in a cast. Odalys waved her hand; the cast split open, revealing bulging veins. Frowning, she dipped the brush in magic dust, drawing a talisman on his leg. She bit her fingertip, dripping blood onto the talisman's center.
Evander groaned. The magic dust turned bright red, then was absorbed into his skin, disappearing completely.
“What’s going on!” Evander was surprised. He hadn’t expected his skin to absorb the dust.
“Try to stand,” Odalys whispered.
Evander and Percival exchanged glances. Percival supported Evander. The moment Evander stood, Percival whispered, “Grandpa, how’s your leg? Does it still hurt?” He asked tentatively. Odalys never played by the rules; when they first met, she’d unbuttoned Percival’s shirt and done strange things to his body, suppressing the poison within him, leaving him dazed for a long time.
The final “BEND GIFT” appears to be unrelated and likely a typographical error.
