Chapter 95
“You can limit it, but you have to investigate who bought these and who handled these clothes previously,” Odalys said.
Evander was stunned. He hadn't expected that. Instantly, he was about to ask when Odalys continued, "There's something wrong with the clothes. After he wore them, he got into an accident the next day. The negative energy is very strong. I feel like a dead person wore them before."
“Someone deliberately sold you a dead man's clothes. If they were custom-made, they might have been modified with a dead person's clothes,” Odalys explained.
Evander’s mind went blank. His lips moved in disbelief, but no words came out. He seemed to have lost his voice, trembling uncontrollably. Tears welled in his eyes, but didn't fall. His voice was choked. He wanted to speak, but couldn't. He seemed to have aged instantly.
“Grandpa, the clothes…” Percival gasped.
A tear fell from Evander’s face. He said hoarsely, “I asked your mother to have someone custom-make clothes for your father. He always liked this style.”
“It’s from a hundred-year-old shop, a longtime friend of the family. However, after your father passed away, we stopped doing business with them to avoid painful memories,” Evander said in a low, hoarse, choked voice.
“I will investigate,” Percival said deeply.
He turned and walked aside, immediately calling Callum while Odalys remained where she was. She felt little emotion. The Stewart family’s wealth always attracted jealousy. Moreover, Percival’s mother was foolish, and Odalys, having died once herself, was long indifferent to such things.
Others might have hidden this from Evander, but Odalys believed telling him the truth was best; it would make him more cautious.
Evander reached out and grasped Odalys’s hand tightly, clearly agitated. “Odalys, you saved the Stewart family. Without you, I would have died.”
Odalys didn't pull away. After Evander calmed down, Percival returned.
“Put this back in the pool. I'll seal it with a talisman. You have surveillance cameras here, right? Let's see if anyone tries to retrieve it,” Odalys said quietly.
She produced a talisman, tossed it, then kicked the clothes back into the pool. Water splashed everywhere.
“Grandpa, why don’t you move to the Stewart Villa and live with us?” Percival asked quietly, concerned about Evander living alone.
Evander shook his head, looking at the large house. “This is the Stewart family’s foundation. I must stay here, no matter what. Since Odalys left me a talisman, I’m not afraid of anything. Besides, the Stewart family is never afraid of trouble.”
He quickly grasped Odalys's meaning. He said quietly, “By the way, Percival needs to find some bodyguards. I have to continue filming the variety show. What if the Bennett family makes a move? I’m afraid ordinary bodyguards won’t suffice. We need experts.”
He paused, then added, “Although those celebrities on the show are attractive, they’re far inferior to Percival. He has a bad temper, but he’s a good person, good character. You’ll see once you get to know him better.” He seemed worried she might be seduced by another man on the show.
Odalys fell silent, thinking, “Why does this feel like a date?”
“Finnian is alright, but not as good as Percival. That man is possessive,” Evander said, fearing Odalys might be stolen away at any moment.
“Grandpa,” Percival interrupted, seeing his grandfather becoming increasingly absurd.
Evander, anxious, said softly, “Odalys…”
Odalys’s lips twitched. She nodded quickly. “Grandpa, you’re right. I’m still young. I don’t like handsome men. I’m afraid of cheaters.”
Evander comforted her again, then took out his phone. “It’s fine. Ask me anything. Let's add each other on WhatsApp.”
Percival watched them exchange numbers. It had taken him considerable time to add Odalys; Evander did it on their first meeting. He felt annoyed.
“Grandpa, it’s getting late. We should go,” Percival reminded kindly. The Stewart Villa was over an hour away.
“Alright. I’ll visit when Odalys is back from filming,” Evander nodded, wanting them to leave. The place felt unclean and dark.
“Grandfather, don’t worry. That talisman is more powerful than you think. You’ll be safe even while sleeping,” Odalys reassured him quietly.
Evander’s face lit up at the mention of the talisman. “You’re the best!” he said softly, clearly pleased.
Percival wheeled Evander inside, Odalys following. The servants collected the roses and supplements, filling an SUV with gifts. Odalys wanted to refuse, but said nothing.
“Let’s go,” Percival said deeply. Remembering Evander’s injured leg, he added, “Grandpa, stay home and rest.”
“Got it. Don’t worry,” Evander quickly waved, fearing he’d stand up if the conversation continued.
