Brendan responded in his beautiful, flirty voice, "Yes?"

Madelyn was instantly stunned by the young couple's tacit cooperation. Naomi must have done it on purpose. Madelyn hadn't expected Brendan to reply, let alone so ambiguously.

"Brendan," Madelyn stared at him in disbelief, as if he were a stranger. Regaining her composure, she turned to Naomi. "Naomi, you must have cast some spell on him! I wanted to spare you public exposure, but you're too arrogant. You don't even take Brendan seriously."

Madelyn then pulled out her phone, opened her photo gallery, and showed it to Brendan. "Brendan, Naomi may seem like a good girl, but she cheated on you a long time ago. I have proof. Look at this if you don't believe me." Many nearby people overheard her.

With his hands in his pockets, Brendan glanced indifferently at Madelyn's phone. The photo depicted Naomi in an affair with a man.

Madelyn glared at Naomi with hatred. "Naomi, you're doomed!"

Naomi lowered her eyes, glanced at the phone, and smiled unconcernedly. "I thought you'd taken a picture of me sleeping with someone."

Madelyn's anger flared at Naomi's nonchalant response. "Brendan, look how arrogant she is! She cheated on you!"

Brendan kept his hands in his pockets and slowly turned his gaze to Madelyn. "The man in the photo is me."

"What?" Madelyn gasped. "You're the man in the photo?"

Shocked, Madelyn examined the phone more closely. The man's figure did resemble Brendan's.

"Brendan, that's impossible…" she stammered, speechless.

Naomi, arms crossed, smiled indifferently. "Madelyn, you can't even recognize Brendan. It seems I overestimated your affection for my husband."

Everyone around them laughed. Naomi had noticed earlier that the photo was taken when Brendan had picked her up from the hospital. How dare Madelyn show it? Naomi truly thought Madelyn was unhinged.

"Naomi, you—" Madelyn's face paled with shame and anger. She raised her hand toward Naomi. "Don't you dare laugh at me, or I'll hit you!"

Before she could touch Naomi, Brendan grabbed her hand. Madelyn turned to see him. Her eyes welled up. Before she could speak, he pushed her away. "Who are you to hit her?"

Seeing Brendan's protectiveness, Madelyn cried, "Brendan, don't let Naomi deceive you! She's not a good person. Even your marriage…" Brendan's phone rang, interrupting her.

He ignored Madelyn, turning away to answer the call. The onlookers gossiped, those in the know revealing that Naomi and Brendan had been married for two years.

Madelyn felt wronged. Naomi stepped forward and whispered in Madelyn's ear, "Madelyn, thank you for helping me clarify things." Before, few people knew about her and Brendan's relationship. Thanks to Madelyn's blunder, more people now did.

Madelyn looked up at Naomi, shouting, "So what if you're married? There are so many divorces nowadays. Maybe one day it'll be—"

Naomi smiled faintly. "It's better than never being married to him at all."

"Naomi, you—" Madelyn was speechless.
